Chili cheese tater tots and buffalo gator tail.
    Brandon H.

Great little restaurant with a great view. Buffalo gator tail isn't on the menu but they made it for me anyway. Our service was fantastic. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely be stopping by.

Be ready and be hungry they have a 1/4 pound cheeseburger, a 1/2 pound burger, and a 1 pounder cooked order with all the fixes. They also got a great patty melt an excellent Philly steak.

This is a hit or miss kind of hole in the wall. It's usually pretty good but it's never been bad.

Great Philly cheesesteak and the best fried catfish. Took the boat all the way from Wyboo just to have lunch there.

Captains Quarters is just across the street. Yelp showed great reviews and the menu was super appealing. Mix of seafood, steaks and just good home cooking. It opens at 5pm for dinner weekdays. We got there about 6 to a pretty large crowd already. Apparently the locals know . Gypsy was our amazing server. Sweet and super knowledgeable. She's this places best advertisement. She had great tips on the whole menu. She was spot on for the red sauce. Chicken parm was perfectly tender. Sauce was like Nonnas. Recommendation to do the shrimp blackened was perfect. Way too much food for sure but she did warn that we would not go home hungry!! Beer was cold. Wine recommended was perfect and did we mention Ms Ellie? Ms E is an amazing young lady who stood watch on the whole dining room. With a hawklike gaze she quickly recognized a table needing bussed or a chair needing straightened And didn't need a prompt. Her quick action ensured table turn times were super Low. Please recognize her hard work. She's making everyone money!!! We stopped by to show her our appreciation on our way out and she lit up . Two big meals. Beer and wine and I was embarrassed how small our bill was. What a great bargain and great find. We booked the same hotel for our April trip so we can come back here!! See ya soon Gypsy!!

There's something about the name "Acme" and good seafood when it comes to coastal restaurants…read more Along the Gulf, you think of Acme Oyster House. On the coastal Atlantic, we recommend Acme Low Country Kitchen. You get five-star food in a rustic setting that could benefit for a bit of a makeover -- but only a touch or two. Excellent service compliments the food. On our plate: The "Light: House, including sauteed shrimp, seared scallops and a house-made, fresh crab cake that comes with a caveat that a shell chip or two might be mixed (we call that authentication). All were perfectly prepared and ample sized. This wasn't a shrimp-and-chips drive-through; this was a meal. Our sides: Collards (this is the low country) and fried Brussel sprouts, again well prepared. Price: $38.25 and among the higher-priced items on the seafood-heavy menu but worth it. Others in our party, including two non seafood eaters, chose the pecan fried chicken (two breast with one each going home because of the size) with another going with the Carolina Duo of the chicken and short ribs. Will we return? Yes. There are other options we've yet to try as our visits to Charleston increase but this was a real treat. Even better, it is near the fabled Dingy beach bar where we ducked in to watch the Kentucky Derby. We could spend our retirement years at The Dingy but that's another review to come. Acme is a 4.5-star review with the only points shaved because it just needs a little updating (after the season, perhaps). The food and service more than make up for it.

We walked in and the place was emptier than a church on a Wednesday night, yet somehow we were told to head on over to the bar, wait for a table, and go ahead and order ourselves a drink. Didn't make much sense, but we did as we were told. Then we stood there a good 10 minutes while the bartender, who let us know he's studying to be a dentist up in Spartanburg, was busy chatting away with another customer like we weren't even there. When he finally got around to us, it felt like we were more of an inconvenience than paying customers. But the real kicker came after we finally got our drinks. The manager came up, and I kid you not, told us we had to leave the restaurant and go out to the parking lot to finish them. No explanation, just attitude, and not a polite one either. To be honest, the manager seemed like she might have had a little too much Easter spirit, if you catch my drift. The whole interaction was downright combative and made us feel completely unwelcome. What really got me, though, was the poor hostesses and waitstaff. They apologized to us over and over and quietly let us know this kind of situation is something they deal with on a daily basis. We even heard her speaking sharply to another customer, which made it clear this wasn't just a one time issue. Honestly, the whole experience felt like a bad trip to the dentist and cost about the same as a root canal. All in all, it was a mess from start to finish, rude, confusing, and about as un Southern hospitality as you can get. I would think twice before going back, y'all.

Well, a friend is in town visiting, and wanted to go to dinner. We're both carnivores, so steak was the order of the day. I did pick a spot off the beaten path, but at the last minute snagged a reservation for Halls, and figured I'd "check off the box." I'm extremely happy I did. Last year I cursed myself by going to The Oak, which was like Outback Steakhouse 2.0; Halls (at least in my experience) was top tier dining at its finest in terms of presentation, service, hospitality, and overall vibe. Yes, it's incredibly loud in there, but that's life. My friend ordered the filet and I, the dry aged ribeye (with black truffle butter accompaniment), both medium rare. Lobster macaroni and cheese and the roasted jalapeño corn, along with the crab cakes and onion soup. The ribeye had fantastic flavor, though I secretly wished I grabbed the NY strip instead. No real reason, but it's a genius marketing move to display the cuts of meat to the table before ordering. That's what screwed me up. But, to be fair, I do that everywhere I eat ("maybe I should have ordered that"). Cannot say enough about the service. A+. Along with our incredible server, no less than two members of management came to our table asking if we needed anything, and that was in a full house. And they all seemed GENUINELY interested in making sure we were happy and satisfied - I didn't feel any of them were going through the motions. I don't usually drink, but I polished off two pineapple martinis and probably could have had five more. Also, I have to note we NEVER felt rushed - it's a hectic room, but the chaos is under control. Totally relaxed and comfortable. Halls Chophouse absolutely delivered for me, and I will certainly be back without a doubt. If you're staying downtown with limited time, I'd definitely recommend it if you can grab a reservation. And, after experiencing Halls, give the little guys a try down the line.

I got the tuna tartare to start, which was very fresh with the right touch of acidity.
