I, too, don't know what people see in this undersized, ordinary greasy-spoon luncheonette. Folks desperate for a hotdog might consider this angry joint, but anyone hoping for a civilized, sit-down meal here can forget it! Three of us stopped in here for the first time today since our usual breakfast place was unexpectedly closed. We, too, sensed that unwelcome vibe they give to "city people" here, along with a few muffled comments, yet we chose to ignore it. This place is so tiny, yet cluttered with more old, creaky tables and chairs than it should be. The whole place was like a steam room, with no ventilation whatsoever, and with Covid and the flu avidly going around, I wanted to flee, yet was cajoled by my mates to stay. We waited a long time for the pudgy, lazy waitress to drop 1 menu (not 3) on our table, sans greeting, and an even longer while for her to return to take our orders, even though she could see that we were ready, since she was standing behind the counter directly next to our table. She dropped our plates off without ever uttering a word to us. We got a Spanish omelet with cold, raw veggies inside; eggs over easy that were gooey and runny with raw eggwhite, and a "well-done" burger that was red\raw in the center. She never returned to see if we needed anything, or to refill our water. The most annoying thing, however, was the coffee: It arrives with a spoon already stuck in the cup! Ugh! That was the final straw in determining that this place was, indeed, a dump. Unpleasant, unhealthy atmosphere, bad service, questionable cleanliness, and a hostile staff. I'd rather starve than ever go through this experience again. read more

A local gem! Every single aspect of this place is top notch. They have a pretty expansive menu for a wiener place- salads, wraps, all day breakfast, bagels, pancakes, homemade soups, etc. Their burgers are hands-down my fave- juicy, perfect size, always super tasty! We were visiting Catskill the other day and stopped here for a quick lunch. We loved it! We tried two different hotdogs, the homemade chicken orzo soup, and a bowl of chili. Everything was really good. Best of all it was super fast, inexpensively priced and the waitress was very sweet. What a great little lunch place! Don't understand what all the fuss is about? It's a hot dog joint. Actually, it's more like a wannabe diner. A decent breakfast was had here, but the attitude of the staff made it more than unpalatable! While discussing business with my associates awaiting a meeting in the legal offices next door, we were told we were loud, fast talkers, and actually was told "you must be city people," which was snarled and meant to be an insult. I find it fascinating that they are a breakfast hot dog joint that closes at 3pm, but they are fantastic! Funny enough, I came here with a group of four a couple weeks ago, and none of us ordered a hot dog. Instead, we got ham and cheese or turkey clubs, grilled cheese, and the beef barley soup of the day, which were all wonderful. The staff is just lovely! We are looking forward to coming here again, perhaps to actually try their namesake haha. read more

There are not a ton of quick lunch options in Catskill, so this has become my go-to place for a bite to eat! I'm a vegetarian, and I have gotten the grilled cheese and egg salad. Sometimes I get a side of sautéed veggies too. This place is cheap and very fast. I wish they had a veggie dog or veggie burger, which is why I am giving it 4 stars and not 5. The service is great here.
