Yesterday, January 15, 2019, I'ved experienced terrible customer service from the owner's wife. She's a light skinned older woman with a NASTY attitude. She doesn't need to be working at the register at all. She needs to be in the back somewhere, away from the public. My friend also had the same experience months ago, but I wish she would've told me sooner. Oh well, she NEVER HAS TO WORRY ABOUT MY BUSINESS EVER AGAIN....EVER!!!! I will report her. Some of the best catfish in Memphis. Food is always hot and cooked to order. Customer service is good. Only complaint is sometimes you have to call multiple times to be able to place your order and the parking lot is usually full. But that just goes to show how good the food is. read more

Not bad, not great, but good enough to enjoy. I tried out the catfish and the white fish basket. It was good, but it didn't stand out from any similar places you can find in the Memphis area. The one thing I did really enjoy was the key lime pie. I really enjoy a good slice of KLP and theirs was perfect. read more

Over last couple years, went to AJs many times for takeout. Fall 2020 ( not on yelp that time ) I take out several catfish filet dinner's when arrived friends house all orders were whole catfish. Called told to return would fix, inconvenient but understood this happens did not give any grief / complaint over phone. Arriving handed order to young girl ( later told was owner's daughter ) I stated in calm but direct manner "I want to keep the sides" .. immediately she quipped "I don't give anything to anyone who demands" ... I replied "what did I demand" ( did not mention hey paid for those sides no need to toss them just want replace the fish order ) assumed that would be common sense to minimize waste and again already paid for those sides so why would I need to demand something already paid ? Think she has emotional issues .. not one second did I disrespect anyone, nor have an attitude, that girl ( manager ) just is immature can't handle a direct statement without major knee-jerk reaction. She grabbed order off counter and with vigor tossed entire returned food ( 3 dinners ) in trash ! Turned to register handed me refund ( minus nice gratuity I had applied to original purchase ). I replied "what about my replacement" she turned to security and quipped "he needs to go" ... I just responded "my god, this is insane" then walked out. Sure felt unfairly slighted but thing that helped me was thinking "AJs not only place to find catfish and thank god I do not have emotional issues like that girl. So if owner reads this a understands my review is truth and knows I have always given respect to anyone at that location and would like to continue having my money spent at his business, he is welcome to call me with assurance I will not be treated so rudely, I am open to be a returning customer. Great catfish. I had the lunch special, 2 filets, fries, hushpuppies, and ice tea for 9.86, tax included. I'll be back at least once a week. They do a lot of takeout business and I know why. Great find for me. read more

A&J's Catfish Station always has great food and services. The food is cooked fresh so of course there is a slight wait unless you have a call in order. Lunch time can get busy but everyone is always friendly. The fish is fresh and hot when served. I saw our local comedian Prescott enjoying a hot meal during lunch today. This was my first time trying out this place but I will never go back. The lady taking my seemed like she did not want to be there. Before I could complete a question about the menu she was already shaking her head. Plus no alternatives were suggested. One guy order was not taken properly so he had to wait. Whatever frustrations he expressed the same lady at the register gives him a refund and begins to yell at him. He was not loud nor disrespectful and he and the guy sitting next to him were shocked. This food was bad, I was so disappointed. I just got a 5 piece hot wing meal. The chicken was not hot but sweet. Then they said they had peach cobbler and without checking had me pay for it, had my mouth ready for it and he said they didn't have it would I like a damn butter roll. If you're looking for a great place to eat some good ol country style fried fish then this is your spot. I had seen the flyer laying around the house, so I wanted to see what all the rage was. So my aunt took me to het Friday night cheat place. I ordered the platter and let me tell you, it was AMAZING. The proportions were generous and the fish was fried to perfection. The manager was very rude to tge employees it took 30 minutes for 12 wings and a poorboys. Then the fries were old.

I have patronized this business previously, but today's experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. My co-workers and I placed a fairly large order and paid making three separate payments. We did check the order before leaving, which was not separated as it should hv been. However, we discovered one meal was missing when we returned to work. The owner refuse to gv us the order when we called to let him know the situation. We spent over $100 & had the owner been concerned about cust service or keeping any us as customers, he would have done the right thing. You have lost a customer.. read more

I have eaten here twice in the past month and was not disappointed either time. The fried catfish was very crispy, tasty, although the 2 strip lunch special left me hankering for an additional strip. Just picked up lunch special 2 pieces catfish. The hushpuppies were great, the fries were burnt and the fish was burnt and you can tell it was cooked in old oil. Why do you use old oil to fry fish. It should be a golden brown color. What a disappointment to today for lunch. read more

Visiting from Visalia, California, had to check out A & J Catfish Station. The best catfish, EVER. The sides were fab as well, I haven't had green bean like those since my mom passed, bought back loving memories. Everyone was so nice and pleasant, just like like you would expect, southern hospitality. I will definitely be back for a visit. read more

Tried it after reading about it online. We got the catfish -1 large and 1 small with 2 sides each and the Crabcakes. It was all great! Very well seasoned - just right. The price was kind of high I thought but it was well worth it. The fillets were so large and meaty we could have gotten 1 large for 2 people with an extra side. The green beans and coleslaw were especially good. Oh and the hush puppies were so delicious I could have gotten an order of them, alone! Although, the potato salad was good, it didn't seem homemade- but then everybody makes their potato salad differently. Will definitely return. read more
