I truly enjoy my seafood at Redhook! I always get the same thing either an M3 or a Weekend Special. The M3 has 1lb of crab legs, corn, and potatoes. The Weekend Special had a lobster tail, crab legs, and pound of shrimp along with corn and potatoes. I always get the same sauce, the Redhook Special hot sauce. You can't go wrong with it. I also had a drink. It was really good. This location has a DJ each Wednesday night. They play a variety of music. The atmosphere is fun and laid back. The staff is attentive and super friendly. The price point is pretty good. They also have coupons if you order online. The service is always quick and food served hot and fresh. They did enforce COVID safety measures. Mask are required, social distancing, and sanitizer is available for customers.

There are a few Red Hook locations in Memphis, but I have not been to one until tonight. They just opened this new location in East Memphis on Hacks Cross Road. Wow, the food here is amazing! I highly recommend it if you like seafood. The Combo Basket with Shrimp and Oyster was great. I loved how crispy and light the batter was. The Shrimp and Oyster were flavorful. They were good, even without my condiments. The Red Hook Specials Combo B is a must. I got it with the Red Hook Special Seasoning spice level medium. It's was so tasty! Full of yummy flavors. It was not that spicy, in my opinion. Next time I will have to get the extra hot spice level as I like an extra kick. The service was excellent! All of the staff, from the hostess to the waitress to the person who clears the tables was amiable. The floor manager checked on us multiple times during our dinner to make sure we were okay. I'm not sure why I didn't come sooner, but I'll definitely be back.

Order extra SAUCE! I purchased a 1/2 snow crab, broccoli, and corn. For me, a boil bag is supposed to Be really saucy and this was wasn't. After ordering one extra sauce I was good to go. The food was cooked well and my strawberry mimosa was tasty! I noticed how clean it was and how helpful all of the staff was to each other. Giving it 3 stars because of the lack of sauce and smaller crab legs.

Ladies, gents, and everyone else, please lower your expectations of service. This place has a basic inexperienced bartender, plastic utensils (with shellfish), and terrible service. However, the Red Hook sauce is AH-MAZE-ING. Worth the food, just order out or order two drinks immediately. Do NOT get the oysters, they taste muddy. Were served with three cups of hot sauce and horseradish, no cocktail sauce? So confused. If we come back I'll come in pajamas or workout clothes. That's the vibe. Clean and not too loud, though!

I am giving a one star because I can't give a zero. King Crabs were soft shells and undercooked. The menu price is $42.00 my receipt was 52.00. This was terrible. The service was good. Food bad. Price was Bait Switch. Once I brought this to the Manager attention he said the price on the door as you enter, and the menu price was incorrect. If you are dining inside a restaurant, what price are you going by? The Menu they give you once you are seated or the front door that you never looked at because you were to hungry. Never again. Never again. Thank God a family member gave me the money for lunch.

    Father's Day special

Father's Day meal deal was perfect for our party of three and our service was great. Unfortunately the mussels appetizer was too salty. My husband has high blood pressure and couldn't fully enjoy them because of the high salt levels. I love salt and it was too much for me. I'm giving 3 stars because this is an important issue for me. My recommendation is that keep the flavor without adding too salt. Cajun should not equal salty! The rest of the food was good, just had to stay away from the sauce, smh.

Highway robbery lol the drinks are very watered down and disgusting, "The Manager" basically told me that it was against the law for him to take my drink back so I asked for him fix it atleast and he told me that fixing it was also against the law lol I've never heard of this and I also will not be returning to this establishment. It's basically a club and security don't even do his job and I know for a fact there are guns and kids in here. I only gave it one star because I couldn't post my review without it.

I feel like this place embodies the essence of my inner peace somehow. It was born as a overflow bar for Iris from the lore I hear. To me, as I see it, this place became Chef Kelly's escape to reality as far as food, atmosphere, and service are concerned. I think this place presents his personality in his relaxed more chill version. If you have ever been to Iris, specifically, when it was next door, you would understand what I mean. When it was the tiny place it had some kind of pretentiousness to it that just turned me off. I only ate there once. It would take weeks to get a reservation before he moved it and the constant limelight had to be a lot of pressure. This place though.... I could come here three times a week no issue. In fact, I actually wish that I could eat here three days a week. Second Line is moving soon. They are going back to being next door to Iris in the newer Laurelwood location. In some ways I wonder if Chef needs that jovial comfort of a place next to Iris to keep him grounded. I do hope the charm of this is somehow transferred, but looking out the windows into Cooper the last time I was here Dec '25, just will not be a possibility in that shopping center it's headed to. That will be lost. He's a great guy! Hell of a Chef! World class employer! Tremendous philanthropist! A leader in the City of Memphis! Please go support him in the new location. Now.... All that BS and I ain't said shit about the food and why I like this place so much. If you scroll through my photos you will see almost every dish that has ever been on the menu here. Some are fantastic! All are very good! I have had nothing but great food here for many years! I have only had one bad meal here. Catfish Picante and it is long gone it seems! I wrote a long ass draft I never published (thank god), after that visit. I do believe it was my first time here and I almost didn't return. What a waste that would have been. My favorites now are Sweet Heat Oysters, Chicken Livers with pepper jelly, that lobster knuckle sandwich from waaaay back, spinach Madeline, and of course... the Red Beans and Rice. The desserts are always killer as well. I guess I'll catch you at the new place soon! Love you guys!! '25 - Finale

So, let's being the reviews back to the here and now 7.26 The place had a bar feel with a restaurant as a second thought. The tables were kinda small. The menu was packed with many choices. Something for everyone for sure. Our waiter was on the ball. He was constantly coming by and checking on us. We started with the spinach and artichokes dip. Small but good. Turns out, it was the perfect size. We then ordered our entrees. We had an order of catfish fingers, shrimp and grits, and chicken and shrimp pasta. The catfish was real good. Crispy and tasty. Fries were good also. Next, the shrimp and grits. Good flavor. And then the shrimp and chicken pasta. Excellent. Creamy and a little bit spicy. Good flavor. Someone said shrimp were small. Not this time. Shrimp were as expected. All played were huge. There was allot of food. Easy more than any of us could finish. And we were hungry. So make sure you bring your appetite. We finished with an order of beignets. A little bit over cooked but the interior was nice and fluffy. Very crunchy. In all, this place rocks. Everything was way better than expected. I love Cajun food and this place did not disappoint. I Recommend this place.

I can not believe I have not reviewed Soul Fish as of yet. I am a huge fan…read more Let me preface this review by saying ... My grandfather owned two successful catfish restaurants. As a child I grew up on fried fish filets and hush puppies until my grandfather had to retire and sell his restaurant due to his Health. He still cooks up a mess of catfish for us about two or three times a year when we visit. Yum! My standards for good catfish are extremely high. Good fried catfish is not greasy, light cornmeal batter, tender flaky inside, and slightly crispy on the outside. Sounds simple enough but the truth of the matter is... Good fried catfish takes skill. After an epic searched for any decent catfish in Memphis and surrounding areas that took a few years ... My family and I decided to give up. And when I heard about Soul Fish it took some considerable convincing to get them to go. We where, none of us, disappointed! Soul Fish is without a doubt the best Catfish in Memphis. It is perfectly fried... Hushpuppies are tasty, coleslaw edible if not always yummy, fried pickles crisp and tart, pickle green tomatoes so yummy I could swim in them, and vegetables always cooked and seasons well (special recognition to the cabbage, broccoli, and black eyed peas). The service is always friendly, fast, efficient, and correct. The blackened catfish is pretty tasty too ... Sometimes they get a little heavy handed on the seasoning. Deserts are pretty great as well. My sister loves the Mississippi mud chocolate thingy they have (I'm not a chocolate fan). I've introduced many people (about 40 or so) to Soul Fish - locals and visitors alike - and no one ... And I mean not a single one of them where disappointed. So why four stars instead of five? True... the catfish is the best in Memphis - however it is not the best I've ever had. And Sometimes a filet or two at Soul Fish fall short of perfection... However ... I'm a regular and a fan of Soul Fish Cafe. If you have spent hours and disappointed meals trying to find good catfish in Memphis ... Look no further ... This is the place for you. I promise you will not Be disappointed!

Memphis is a slight detour on our way back to Texas, but there was no way we were settling for fast food along the highway. We wanted good seafood--fresh, satisfying, and worth the stop. So glad we chose this spot. From the outside, it's simple and unassuming. Inside, it feels like a slightly bougie fish cafe--clean, cozy, and well-kept, with subtle holiday decor and that warm Southern hospitality greeting you at the door. Our server, Denise, was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The one-page menu keeps it simple, and she walked us through it along with the daily special. We ordered the gumbo, salmon burger, and a grilled salmon plate--everything tasted fresh and cooked to order. A perfect seafood meal in Tennessee. We left full, happy, and already planning what to try next time. Definitely a spot worth revisiting.

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!
