A&M Atlantic Seafood- Cocoa- 4 Stars First, it was the phone call, then it was the sign (see photos) I first saw upon entering A & M Atlantic Seafood that brought and kept the late, great comedian John Pinnette to mind and his famous "Chinese Buffet" routine. It was a packed house for lunch, and as no one else seemed to be paying any attention to it, I turned mine towards what I can only assume was a shrine to the All Holy and Mighty Pineapple, sending a quick thought westward towards the Holy Land (Hawai'i) I approached the counter to place my order. What I found behind the counter only solidified my belief that I was in Mr. Pinnette's bit. She can only be described as the stereotypical "Dragon Mom" made famous in the book by Janet Gonzalez-Mena. She was of Asian descent, unsmiling and slung tough love around like she was chumming for sharks. She had everyone on their toes, focused and performing their assigned task with efficiency and pride. What is the result of all this bossing around and frowning at her employees? Only the best fried Conch I have ever had! It was so devine that I had to go back a second time just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Rest assured, I was not. It is real and very, very delicious. The sweet tea is homemade as it is written in the Florida state constitution (a little-known fact). The Catfish and Shrimp dinner that I ordered was just as out of this world fresh as the Conch. Everything was perfectly breaded and fried to an amazing golden brown. The crunchiness of the batter combined with the tenderness of the Catfish and the Shrimp was an obvious sign of a well-run ship. I will definitely head back a third, fourth and most likely a fifth time just to make sure for my readers Dragon Lady still has everyone on point. It's the least I can do. The Big Boy says, "For an exciting cultural experience and the absolute best fried Conch around, head on over to A & M Atlantic Seafood in Cocoa. Just don't stay longer than four hours!"

Snow Crab Legs and Shrimp Boiled Eggs with Garlic Butter fried shrimp

Doesn't look like much when driving past but we were craving crab so we stopped, the place aesthetically leaves more to be desired but the food more than makes up for it. While slightly on the saltier side the crab had a good flavor profile and the garlic butter was great! We got 2.2 pounds of crab for around $50 and then a bunch of add ons for a total of $70. To say we were stuffed was an understatement. Also note worthy the young tall man that works there was supper nice and even included a free sampler of the crab rice for us to try. It was amazing!

We started with the New England Clam Chowder, and it was rich, creamy, and full of flavor -- the kind that instantly transports you straight to the coast. The calamari as an appetizer was hands down the tenderest I've ever had -- perfectly cooked, light, and addictive. The raw oyster selection was amazing--delicious, meaty, sweet, and not gritty at all. But the star of the meal was the Connecticut Lobster Roll: warm, buttery lobster piled high and paired with a refreshing tropical slaw that balanced everything beautifully. Absolute perfection. Add in a Dr Pepper oyster shooter and their signature oyster shooter, and it was a full-on flavor experience. What truly elevated the visit was Sophie, our server -- an absolute gem herself! Attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely made us feel welcome. Service like that is rare and so appreciated. This place truly earns its hidden gem title. (Glad to report several more arrived in the time we were there.) The place is adorable, clean and well lit. We ordered several items the hush puppies, garden salad with grilled chicken, the Florida Heat Lobster Roll, and the Connecticut Lobster Roll. The rolls came with fries, baked beans and Coleslaw. We enjoyed everything! The baked beans were Boston style and flavorful. The coleslaw was vinegar based - the way I like it. The rolls were perfect. Misty was our server. She was just attentive enough. Sometimes when restaurants are slow servers will over do it and she was great. She helped us with our selections. The food came fast and hot. It's an inviting place and would be a great place for groups. My Lobster Roll meal came out in a timely manner and looked very good. However unfortunately, there wasn't much taste to it. It was extremely dry. I did order a gluten free bun so maybe that was the problem? Anyway, I was not impressed. The beans, coleslaw, and fries were very good.

We decided to have dinner when they had soulfood Sunday. The original waitress we had was cool and friendly, but the 2nd was not friendly, never took a drink order, never told us what was still available. We orginally ordered yams, after 15/20 of waiting we were told there weren't any left and what would we like to replace it with, but luckily they discovered they had enough for at least one serving. The peel & eat shrimp is literally too salty to eat. Following this dinner we had full blown headaches and suspect it was from this salty dish that we could not finish. The catfish was cooked well, and seasoned well, yet also salty along with the collard greens. The mac was good and balanced, the bite with some catfish was perfect. I was happy they did bring out the yams because they were made perfectly, soft, not too sweet and complimented every part of the meal. The smothered porkchops, a bit too smothered for our liking in a salty gravy. Trying to eat the porkchop itself was a challenge not worth much because you may be getting fatty piece. My wife, being the kind person she is, decided to try dessert. She has been looking for real banana pudding, what they had left was red velvet cake. It was pretty good, not much to say on it honestly I was beyond done. That said, we will not be returning. I really wanted a po boy, but its not worth getting a headache over due to high sodium

Marker 24 is in a residential area and accessible by land, as this restaurant is on a waterfront, and most diners pull up in the little boats. There is indoor and outdoor dining; we saw a few people outdoors but it was chilly when we were there, so we opted for indoor seating. A few stalls for parking across the street, parking stalls divided by little fish painted on the ground, which was a cute touch. Happy hour was spectacular, with buy-one-get-one-free drinks and the food prices were super reasonable to us (coming from Hawaii, where everything is super expensive). My husband ordered a Spicy Mahi Sandwich with Potato Chips (instead of fries, that's how it came) for $20 and I got a roasted mushroom flat-bread pizza for $15.00 and our appetizer was the smoked fish dip for $15.00 which came highly recommended, and we did love it, but when we saw the crackers, we were laughing. We were expecting bread or flatbread, but that's just fine, being a waterfront casual restaurant. Total bill = $70.62 without tip. Everything was delicious, no complaints. Service was attentive and friendly. After dinner we took a stroll out to the back of the restaurant onto the pier and watched the sun go down. If we lived in the area, we would visit frequently!

My partner had the chicken Madras with regular rice. ($14.99). It was also good. He ordered medium spicy and honestly I could only dip my bread in a couple of times because it was so spicy for my taste. He got through half and was sweating so much that he gave up and brought the rest home. Next time he will order the mild! The restaurant space is beautiful. The only bummer for me is that we looked at the menu online before going and I was so excited that they serve Dosas, because they are hard to find. Unfortunately their online menu is incorrect and they do not serve most of the southern Indian dishes on the online menu. Boo! Also the menu that they do have lists all the curries and other dishes but with no descriptions to help one decide what sounds good. I've been eating Indian food regularly for over 30 years and there were several dishes I didn't recognize but would have loved to discover what they were. And asking a waiter to explain the entire menu would take all night. But other than this frustration, it was a good meal and I'm sure we will be back.

Unfortunately, the service was again, spotty. It took about 10 minutes for the server to come to the table to acknowledge us and take drink orders. All in all, it took over an hour and a half for a slow house Sunday lunch. Although I know that the server is not responsible for the food that comes out of the kitchen, they are the last to set eyes on the food before bringing it to the table. On to the food. Four 4 adults and one child, we ordered peel and eat shrimp, kid's chicken tenders with fries, a cup of soup, the salad special, a regular salad from the main menu and a regular sandwich from the main menu. Each order of fries that were brought out had obviously been pre-fried and held to be served later, rather than fried to order. We had asked for the child's food to be served ASAP, rather than waiting for the rest of the order. When it was brought out, the fries were obviously old; they were unevenly warm, limp and had obviously been under a heat lamp for some time. The fries were returned to the kitchen and a fresh order requested. The fresh order was hot, crispy and perfectly golden brown. When the sandwich came out it was served dry, with no dressing or aioli, and the side of fries were again, old. The server commented that the slaw should have been tossed in dressing. We again asked the server to bring fresh fries, along with aioli which per the menu should have been on the sandwich. The peel and eat shrimp were served raw. Not slightly under, raw. We requested that the shrimp be brought to temperature and said we didn't need them to re-fire a new order. The kitchen could just bring the same order up to the correct temperature. The kitchen could have done it by putting the shrimp in the microwave or the flatiron for a minute. Instead they threw them back on the grill and incinerated them - and then the server brought out the burnt offerings. The manager was kind enough to take the shrimp off the bill when he stopped by the table and we brought it to his attention, but again, the server is the last person to put eyes on the food. The old limp, cold fries and the raw and then incinerated shrimp should never have been brought to the table. This was a failure of both the front of the house and the back of the house. The ambiance at Dolphins remains wonderful, this is a terrific location. Relaxing with an adult beverage and watching the boats go up and down the canal and the draw bridge open and close is entertaining for everyone. The only thing lacking is good food and good service.
