We had been here about a year ago and it was very good. We thought they had closed, but apparently we were wrong. We ordered the tomato soup which was incredible. The flavors were just amazing. We both were commenting on its unique flavor as we waited for our main course. It was also a decent size serving. Our main course was the Paneer Tandoori. Something my wife had been looking for since having this dish in New York. The flavor of this was also just amazing and she commented it was better than the NY experience. We have eaten at a number of Indian Restaurants in the area, but none has been as tasteful as this. For us it was just in a different league. We'll definitely be eating here more often. read more

The food was very good, and so was the service. The prices are great, the portions are generous. I had the Paneer Tikka Tandori ($14.99) and it was delicious. It came with saffron rice and a tikka sauce, both delicious. We shared a garlic naan bread($4.99 I think). It was soft, garlicky, and buttery. Delicious. My partner had the chicken Madras with regular rice. ($14.99). It was also good. He ordered medium spicy and honestly I could only dip my bread in a couple of times because it was so spicy for my taste. He got through half and was sweating so much that he gave up and brought the rest home. Next time he will order the mild! The restaurant space is beautiful. The only bummer for me is that we looked at the menu online before going and I was so excited that they serve Dosas, because they are hard to find. Unfortunately their online menu is incorrect and they do not serve most of the southern Indian dishes on the online menu. Boo! Also the menu that they do have lists all the curries and other dishes but with no descriptions to help one decide what sounds good. I've been eating Indian food regularly for over 30 years and there were several dishes I didn't recognize but would have loved to discover what they were. And asking a waiter to explain the entire menu would take all night. But other than this frustration, it was a good meal and I'm sure we will be back. read more

Waited for next course, didn't show up, finally waitress asked if we wanted anything else. We said we're still waiting for what we already ordered. Waitress was apologetic. It came out, no naan. Finally the naan came out when we were just about done with the plate, and it was burnt on the bottom. The couple next to us ordered some chicken item, ended up sending it back because it was raw. I'll lead off with the positive. The ambiance was very cool. Indian music was playing on speakers facing the street so you heard it even before walking in. Then, as you walk in it is a fully decked-out restaurant with a full bar. There are tables, booths, and a buffet section. We made a Yelp reservation for 5pm on a Friday evening. It wasn't necessary at all. There was a ton of seating available. The staff were receptive from the moment we walked in. All of this to be said, I really wanted the food to blow me away. Instead, it was just ok. The portions were small and very oily. See the pictures for the visual of portion size. The Gobi Manchurian and the fish curry was the complete serving on the plate. The amount of fish seemed like less than a 5oz filet. The flavor was nice, but the excessive oil coated our mouths. If you have tolerance for food with high oil/fat then this will not be an issue. I have a friend who goes to dinner once a month with me-willing to try new places and new food. Tonight we chose the Royal Peacock. The location has been there a little over a year. The place was very clean. The service was extremely helpful and answered all of our questions and gave recommendations. I chose the chicken masala with no spice and a side of garlic naam. My friend is a vegan and found a delicious choice of veggies and rice with an onion based cashew cream sauce. The prices were reasonable. Even since they opened I come at least every other week. The food actually goes so crazy it's hard to explain. The madras, coconut, Rogan Josh, andhra, avakai, tikka masala, and butter chicken have all been repeat orders. The garlic naan is a consistently good pairing and the veggie samosas are fresh and flavorful . Stumbled upon a new gem in historic downtown Cocoa Village: Royal Peacock Indian Kitchen (in the space formerly known as Murdock's). We shared a Samosa appetizer, smooth in flavor and texture, perfectly spiced and fried to flaky perfection. We followed that with Saag Goat (myself) and Chicken Tikka Masala (Danny). The Saag Goat was perfect - the meat juicy and soft, the spinach sauce perfectly seasoned and the rice light and fluffy. The Chicken Tikka Masala was wonderful - delightfully spicy and earthy in flavor, the sauce smooth, smoky and slightly spicy. The service was formal yet friendly and relaxed. Raji and staff tended to us in a timely and inviting manner - our drinks never went below half full, appetizer and meals were at our table within 10 minutes of ordering. We're told there's a buffet Saturdays and Sundays and they also serve breakfast. Can't wait to get a taste! This is going on our Top-5 Favorite list! Someone else posted about a new Indian Restaurant on Fruitville a few weeks ago. I decided to give it a go today and I beyond happy with my meal. I've never had butter chicken. As soon as I did my ceremonial naan dip into it, I said aloud "wow!" It was so flavorful! The curry has a hearty portion of white chicken, no extra fillers. My experience at Royal Peacock Indian kitchen was overall very good but not great. The service was top notch and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. it was however a bit pricey when compared to other Indian restaurants we enjoy in Fort Lauderdale. My family and I started with the vegetable samosas, which we all agreed were the most plain tasting samosas we have tried in an Indian restaurant. Then, my daughter ordered the boneless chicken vindaloo, extra spicy. My wife ordered the chicken tikka masala at medium spice and I ordered the malai kofta spicy. The best dish was the chicken vindaloo, but the malai kofta was very good as well. The chicken tikka masala was quite bland. We all ordered varying degrees of spice but they all seemed relatively tame. We finished up with the meal with the nutella dosa with ice cream which was very nice to share. In my opinion, RPIK is a solid choice for Indian cuisine when visiting Sarasota. read more

I wish I could say the food was as good as the aroma an what we saw other patrons had on their table but that was not to be. We arrived ~630 to a very light crowd 3 four tops eating and a 2 top placing their order. The waiter left us standing in the doorway for quite a while without acknowledging we were there. He then sat us with menus and told us it was going to be 20 minutes before we would get food, OK. Four more came in, they were told 30 minutes, and were seated in the back, three more were then told 45 to 1 hour so they left. Meanwhile 10 minutes have gone completely ignoring us, finally we got his attention and asked for a beverage while we were waiting, he literally turned his back and walked away! Not a word! At that point the four folks that were seated after us gave up and left. Meanwhile several pick up orders were given to folks. We again tried to engage the waiter to ask if we could get a beverage, he again turned his back and started to walk away, so we asked him if he just wanted us to leave, he turned around shook his head waved his hands and vanished into the kitchen. Wow. We really wanted to try this place and were willing to wait it out with a bev and appetizer but we ended up leaving after a half hour. We understand things happen, but that is no excuse for the total lack of polite communication and complete disregard for patrons that ​we experienced. It was like an episode of Fawlty towers! We were trying to guess if they ran out of food or the chef walked out on dinner service! To be clear, I can't remember the last time I left a negative review for an establishment, and while I can't comment on the fare, if there was a negative number for the service - ​I'd give it. read more
