I find that the root beer quality is highly inconsistent depending on the franchise location. For example, the Sheppard and Birchmount A&W location has some of the best root beer in the GTA. They serve you the root beer in CHILLED glasses and the root beer is also very fizzy. Perhaps it was because this A&W is part of the food court? The burger patties could've also been hotter when biting into them. I must echo what one other reviewer said about the temperature. Also, while the sides tasted good, the sweet potato fries should've been in the fryer longer (a lot of them were limp and not crispy). The onion rings were also not battered well. The coating was basically flaking off of each piece when I picked them up. I'm still gonna come back to this A&W for the $2 mobile app order (teen/mozza burgers) on Maple Leaf game days, but if I was really craving A&W it wouldn't be at this location.

The regulars have two patties while the little ones have just one beef patty. The fries were hot and fresh. We got some of the Cajun spice on the side so we were able to try it with and without. I prefer it without the Cajun spice. The poutine was good, although it could use a bit more cheese and gravy. We were gonna get a shake after we ate but we were so stuffed. We'll have to go back and try all the crazy shakes that they have. I ordered the burger "all the way," which is ketchup, mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms, and I got some jalapenos on the side. But you can choose your own toppings. Service was fast and lots of parking in the plaza. I needed to use the washroom, so I made a left to use it. There are two single stalls. The door handle tells you whether it's vacant or occupied. The one that I used before and after my meal was clean. I headed over to the counter to place my order. I got Sarah, who was super patient and friendly. I looked at the combos menu. I went with the rude dude combo. The rude dude is a double cheeseburger. I got it with bacon, which meant that my burger was tattooed. I liked that I got a small poutine as the side because the poutine at Rudy's is excellent. I also got a fountain drink. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. She let me know when my food was ready. I found a table by the wall with windows. I filled my cup with ice and Diet Coke. It was so refreshing. I went back to refill my cup because I needed more of it to wash my food down. It is drafty in this eatery. Most folks had their coats and jackets on. There was a heater in the corner, which did little to heat the entire eatery. I looked at my receipt. Sarah had asked for my name. It was Marrie on the receipt. Close enough! My order was number 71. I thought that I'd hear the number called out and fetch my order. Nope. Sarah brought my food over on a tray. So nice! I thanked her and went to town eating my late lunch. My rude dude burger tasted yummy and fresh. I loved the buttery leafy lettuce, juicy sliced tomatoes, two slices of cheese, sauce, and bacon. The two smashed beef patties were flavourful and perfectly grilled. The bun was soft and held everything together. I loved being reunited with this burger! The poutine was excellent. The gravy was perfect to melt the cheese curds. The fries were perfection. It is the perfect side with the rude dude. I love that this Rudy location is in Aurora. It's incredibly rare to find a chain restaurant that's run with all the love and personality of a warm neighbourhood favourite. The staff here make everything.... in particular Jimmy. We're not regulars, but he always remembers us and our orders... right down to our son's preference for cherries in his Shirley Temple and cotton candy on his ice cream. It's always clean and well maintained. Everything is prepared literally as well as it's pictured. I never thought I'd be saying this about a Swiss Chalet. Because it sounds absurd... But every single time we walk in the door we feel like welcomed guests. And it's always a lovely experience with the family. And we always want to go back. It's not Swiss Chalet. Also my first time trying poutine - the gravy was okay, salt is the main flavor profile, and the cheese didn't have that "squeak" everyone talks about. That didn't stop my sister and I from inhaling it, though. Decent enough to get the job done, I'll be trying other items if I get a chance to return.
