Phil Original Poutine (cheese curds galore!)
    Matthew H.

4/5 Put me down as a fan of the cheesesteaks. Visited on a Friday around 12:45, where there was one person in line and a few groups seated and eating. The location is close to work and parking is not a problem in this plaza. Ordered the Phil Meal and got the poutine as well. The cheesesteak was awesome - the only regret I have is not ordering the Philthy size! There was a lot of steak, and it was easy to chew. The mushrooms, onions and peppers, provolone cheese as well as the Philthy sauce (much better than your regular bbq sace) made up for the slight lack of flavor on the steak. (edit: I got lettuce and tomato as well, but thought it didn't fit too with the cheesesteak and ate them on the side.) The poutine had plenty of cheese curds considering its size, and the fries did not seem overly oily. At 9.99 for a 6 inch cheesesteak, fries (+$2 for poutine) and a drink, you can't really go wrong (dare I say the value is Philthy?). I was hoping there was an option to upgrade the size of the cheesesteak similar to the fries, but it was a good mix of both of the main offerings. Even as a fast food sit down spot, the service was attentive and friendly. I remember one person walking in and asking for recommendations and the staff carefully went over the menu with him. Will definitely return when I have a cheesesteak craving (similar to this visit).

    So small

I just payed 12$ for a really tiny sandwich as size if my hand why so overpriced and not much

Classic poutine and philly cheese steak poutine (regular size)

I ordered the classic poutine and the philly cheese poutine in the regular size. The fries were not greasy and the gravy and cheese curds were perfect. We ordered our food a bit before noon, and it seemed as though we were the first customer of the day. But it picked up very quickly. Definitely will return if we are in the new market area.

Philthy size poutine is a must try!! Its huge, you have to be sharing it. I think it looks like a pound of fries! Place is nice and clean. Staff is friendly. I can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu! 4 stars for food and service.

Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I love poutine and I'm very picky about it. This was pretty good. They used real curds and used fresh ingredients. I felt like the gravy could have had more flavour. It's a great place to stop for a quick bite, prices are pretty good and the staff was very friendly.

"Philthy" size is quite huge! For 2 people it was dinner and breakfast. Very tasty, we got pulled pork Poutine. There was a lot of meat, a lot of cheese curds, and gravy was even through out the massive amount of fries. Great value too. It's nice to see the kitchen space, where everything is cooked and prepared in front of your eyes. The restaurant is clean. It's probably really nice in summer, as there is a huge "window garage door" that probably stays open on warm summer evenings

OK Newmarket and GTA, it's time for me to lay some northern knowledge on all a y'all! Something is happening in Newmarket... something wonderful. From Davis drive to Mulock new business is booming and they're throwing away the healthy trends in exchange for big unadulterated flavour! After losing my left and right leg to Home Outfitters moments before, I was looking for tasty, comfort food at a decent price. It was then that I noticed the large Philthy Phace of Philly's on a bright orange sign only a few doors away. If you're not familar with the area, it's located in the Goodlife plaza on the South -east corner of Davis Drive and Yonge street. In a world where up is down, black is white and bad is good, then Philthy is clearly code for PHREAKING PHANTASTIC. No Phucking around!! (see it doesn't count as swearing if you don't write the actual word). It's a simple take away joint, the first of it's kind offering two main menu items and that's it: Poutine and Philly Cheesesteaks. D-LISH! There are approximately 8 different varieties of poutine ranging from original to a bacon steak burger (yes bacon and steak on poutine). And if that's not enough food for you, you've got about 6-8 variations of cheesesteaks to choose from as well. I always feel it's best to evaluate a food style on it's basics and then expand from there. I went for their supreme philly which was PHILTHY (in a good way). It's exactly as they're made in Philadelphia right down to being coated in Whiz (cheese Whiz that IZ...). You get 6oz of steak, sauteed mushrooms, onions and green peppers all on a fresh top cut bun, and if whiz iznt your thing, no worries you have 3 other cheese options available to you (Cheddar, Swiss OR Provolone). For my money this was a fantastic sandwich, and for only being 6 months young, they've got a concept that I know is going to be a huge hit here in the 'burbs and beyond! Looking forward to many a philthy meal in the phuture! Eatcrest Out!

We just ordered first time from you guys... seriously it was truly awful! The meat was so dry.. could barely find the cheese I ordered on it- Sections of the sandwich were just the dry bread??! And not only am I still starving , but holy hell- I should not be still hungry after spending that much money? The size of the piece of carrot cake for the 8.99??! (I'm afraid to even try it- if the quality is anything like the dried 'meat' that I just ate-I seriously cannot even call it a sandwich ) Seriously? You guys should be ashamed to be putting out food like that- worst 'meal' ever - I feel like I've been robbed-

We made a bit of a snap decision on a hungry Friday night, and without much thought, decided to head up to Philthy Philly's with a Groupon we had. Turned out to be a great decision. Before I say anything about the food, I want to emphasize just how amazing the staff was. We wandered in and showed our Groupon, and proceeded to look over the menu as we had no idea what we wanted. Not only did the young lady who was taking orders have suggestions for us, she was also helpful in describing everything, and on top of that, went out of her way to try to get us the best deal she could. And after everything, also told us that we got a free pop with our order (which I never would have known). Helpful and honest is a really good combination, and that alone would have me coming back for another try. And now for the food. I'll say one thing for sure: make sure you're hungry if you're coming here to eat! We decided to share a regular sized sandwich, and get our own poutines (I got the regular size, and my wife got the small). We barely got through it. They certainly don't skimp on anything here. The sandwich was something called The Big Texan. We chose chicken (you can get steak or chicken), and it comes with bacon, pulled pork, onion crisps, and onions on it. Probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I'll be going back for one of these for sure. I just got a regular poutine. Nothing to write home about, but it was good, and there were lots of cheese curds, and a good amount of nice hot gravy to melt them. She got the Greek poutine, and it was really tasty. I had the pleasure of finishing off what she couldn't eat. This place is definitely a must visit. I won't be frequenting the place, simply because the food is so good, and the portions are so big, that my heart wouldn't be able to take it. But anything I'm feeling like a hearty comfort meal, this is where you'll find me

    Philly Supreme with Original Poutine

I was a little apprehensive about trying this after seeing the less than savoury sandwich that was posted shortly after this place appeared. My friend and I popped in on a whim. My expectations for this place was a bit of a roller coaster ride. The staff is extremely friendly. Service was great. The lady that took our order managed to convince my skeptical friend that cheese whiz is the way to go for a Philly cheesesteak. Mmm...cheese whiz. Being light eaters, we opted to share a Philly Supreme and Original Poutine. Our food looked pretty damn good and I was super excited. The taste, however, was a little lacking. I expect big beefy taste so I was a little disappointed. The Poutine was loaded with cheese and gravy but again, the taste was just okay. Overall, the service was great and food was okay so I'd go back, albeit with steadier expectations.

Great sandwiches and drinks. But nothing to comment about device or ambience as mostly I ordered through Uber eats.

I did a quick search to see if John Catucci had been to the area with either of his shows, and it turned out Philadelphia Kitchen was featured on You Gotta Eat Here. Decision made! We decided to try a couple of their cheesesteaks, one with wiz and one with mozzarella. After a wait of about 15 minutes, both sandwiches were brought to our table. My first impression was that hey, this doesn't look like a traditional cheesesteak. The wiz one especially only seemed to contain a small line of cheese whiz, which, if you've ever had an authentic cheesesteak, you know is absolutely incorrect. Anyway, even though I wouldn't call either of these sandwiches cheesesteaks in the traditional sense, they turned out to be tasty meat sandwiches regardless. The meat is cooked very well, and the fresh bread provides a nice crunch. Do I wish I'd been served an actual cheesesteak? Yes, definitely. But I did enjoy this for what it was, which is a well-made steak sandwich.

The burger was assembled carefully (it helped that I was the only customer). The burger sauce was good & Goldilocks-applied (not too much, not too little) & the cheese was properly melted onto the patty. The toppings were good & the bun was a black & white sesame bun, though it was a touch dry. The fries were Cavendish fries & they were well-fried, so there was a nice exterior texture & savoury taste. Philthy Philly's was one of them. This eatery is in Clarkson, just south of the GO station. Clarkson is growing on me as a neighbourhood. It is roughly twenty minutes away from my workplace, so it's quite a distance from my home. I drove over here after work on evening. I pulled into this plaza, which has a bunch of stores that I want to check out when I'm back. I parked and walked in. There is plenty of parking. There was one person placing an order. It was enough time for me to review the menu and figure out what I wanted to get. Philthy Philly's has recently introduced Broad Street burgers to its menu. I love a good burger, but I was craving a cheesesteak more. I was pleasantly surprised to see the Grow-Op burger, which is a veggie burger. The person helping me with my Groupon was helpful and cool. The redemption was straightforward. I ordered a regular cheesesteak. I got steak, with green peppers, onions, mushrooms, swiss cheese, and apple butter mesquite sauce. I also got a Phil-sized bacon poutine and a Diet Coke. I got my Diet Coke and waited for my order at a table. It gave me time to observe the artwork around me. My order was ready. I picked it up and thanked the guy. I was ready to chow down. I was hungry! The bacon poutine is the best at this Philthy Phil's. The bacon was crisp. The gravy was perfect, melting all the cheese curds into the perfect cheese pull with every fork helping. One word: fantastic! My cheesesteak was so good. It was my first time trying the apple butter mesquite sauce. It has so many complex layers of flavour. I loved that it was almost different with each bite. Yum! This place has a single women's washroom, which was spacious and clean. I saw two guys go into the men's, so I can't comment on that and don't want to speculate! I thanked the staff here when I left. It's my favourite Philthy Phil's so far in my cheesesteak journey within and around the GTA. (304)
