Shamrock Burgers, located in the Highland Creek neighbourhood of Scarborough, has been around since 1970, feeding generations of customers. It's one of those rare family-owned businesses that has enjoyed much success over the years. They have a rich history of sponsoring local sports teams. There's nothing fancy about this place. It's just warm and comforting, making customers feel very welcomed. In addition to their cozy dining room, there are a couple of picnic tables nestled under the trees outside. I've dined here a few times over the years and the food has been good. This time around, it was REALLY GOOD! I had their Canadiana Burger, a huge towering delicious mess, stuffed with BBQ pulled pork, peameal bacon, side bacon, and poutine, all on top of a beef patty in a great bun! This location is slightly off the beaten path near the UofT Valley in Scarborough. It's mainly a takeout spot but there is a bit of seating inside. Really good selection of free toppings available. Order: Classic 4oz Combo. A regular combo includes fries and a canned pop. Their fries are really good, handcut and crispy, serving size was huge. The burger was also really good. It's a nice seasoned patty that wasn't dry and love the brioche bun. My only complaint was the really rough chop on the lettuce and onion. When this thick it makes for a messy sandwich and huge bites of raw onion don't make for the best experience. Otherwise, I'd definitely recommend this place and will return. read more

Shamrock Burgers is one of the oldest burger spots in town, operating for 50+ years. I tried the Classic Rock burger combo here on a weekday evening. You need to pick out the toppings you want for the Classic Rock burger, so I picked out lettuce, jalapeños, chipotle bbq sauce, crispy onions, and mushrooms for my burger. If you're not sure what combination of toppings to try, they offer Signature burgers where you don't need to pick out the toppings as well. For my side, I got their crispy onion rings. I loved how crispy they were, but they're on the oily side, so I would try to dab some of the excess oil out with napkins. Their combo also comes with a choice of canned pop or bottled water for your drink. Overall I enjoyed the food, but it's definitely very filling, so I would not recommend getting the combo if you have a small appetite or not super hungry. Another Family Fave!!! Anytime we are in the Highland Park/Port Union area of Scarborough, we always make it a point to stop into Shamrock Burgers. It has been a family favourite for a few years. What is awesome about Shamrock Burgers is that the food is always consistent. The meat always fresh, juicy and flavourful, and the fries and onion rings are always cooked to perfection. The kids love their milkshakes too! Like most great burger joints you have many options for dressing your burger as well as a few Shamrock Signature Burgers as well as beef, chicken, Beyond and Veggie burger options. I love their hand cut fries and always get them with a side of gravy. The onions rings are home made and always crispy, and we always get an order of their waffle style fries as well. We enjoyed a Classic Rock Burger combo with fries & onion Rings on a nice afternoon. The burgers were seriously delicious but I must say you HAVE TO add the secret sauce, crispy onions, caramelized onions and sautéed mushrooms... so many amazing flavours and textures.. It was ok. We have eaten here at least a few times before and I guess it didn't merit a review...hmm...I wonder why. I like my burgers to be juicy. Not dripping fat juicy but at least not so dried out that even a slathering of bunch of sauces can't save it dry. My classic was just ok. Would I pay $10+ for this burger again. Heck, no. My husband seemed to enjoy his farmhouse burger so maybe it was the way I ordered mine that made it not so palatable??? Bought the classic shamrock combo, $11.95: Classic 4 oz burger Fries Can of pop EXTRA order of their "famous" onion rings, $4.65. Everything for less than $20. No dine-in yet. Pandemic Toronto 2021. Into my car, ripping the brown paper bag with excitement and hunger! The burger had a thin patty; unlike the photos shown in Yelp. The burger was ho-hum in taste, no charbroiled taste or anything out of the ordinary. The secret sauce was secretive in taste. Missing in fact. The fries were OK. Fresh-cut. Limpy not crispy. Onion rings were definitely homemade with half doughy/half crispy batter. More batter than onions. Drink was cold. SAME with the other reviews, the rings were only and darker than usual (old oil). I did not have the Monster Sham at Shamrock Burgers & Pizza! I do think I might be up for the challenge one day but not today as I just had some fish and chips for lunch..... Monster Sham ($10.60) is Two 10oz meat patties with cheese on a kaiser bun. And If I am hungry enough to finish that myself by completing the challenge I would have a $5 gift card so I can stuff my face with my burger! I instead settled on the Classic Rock ($4.10) with my choice of condiments of fried onion, Rock sauce, tomato, and jalapeno pepper. My burger was cooked to order while I enjoying watching how the fat caught on fire while it was on the grill....... It was kind of messy when I started biting into it but the patty was moist and was just cook right. If you do want yours well done, please request that and they gladly did it for some of the other patrons. The Classic was good... I want more after eating that. My first experience was pretty good, I enjoyed my classic 6oz but I went today and had the same burger. Not quite the same. Today's burger was salty and I love salt. But it really bothered me when the cook/server was using the same gloves. She took raw meat and then touched the cooked fries to put in the bag. I told her she just crossed contaminated and she yelled back at me and blamed her boss. She asked me if I wanted her to change her gloves and I said yes please do. She touched everything with this glove and it looked so dirty and looks like she's been wearing all day. Her attitude was not very nice and I will never go back ever again. Please change ur gloves every task or just simply was your hands. Coz wearing a glove actually creates more bacteria. By the way I ordered 3 combos and spent more than $50. Not worth it. Tried Shamrock Burgers (Highland Creek) for the first time yesterday, for lunch. Onion rings were the star of the show. Huge rings with a thick beer batter, different from most places, and they use very sweet onions. However, the burger did not impress. It had a spice mix that reminded me of Lick's, which is not a good thing. If I wanted Lick's (I don't), I'd go there. Very stingy with the toppings. Barely enough lettuce to notice. Bun did not hold together well at all and fell apart after just 3 bites into the burger. We won't return unless we just want great onion rings. read more

Well their staff's customer service skills are so bad I actually had to wonder if they are trying to give bad service on purpose like it was a theme for the chain or something. I've had bad service at the Ajax location but I would never give a whole chain a bad name for just a single worker who doesn't own the business but since this isn't the first time I've experienced it and I've heard the same from others I'm going to declare this place dead to me. The food is ok, they have really good milkshakes, but the reason for my 3-star rating is the main person/woman (and I'm assuming manager?) who works there looks absolutely miserable every time I walk in and appears to be genuinely pissed off that I have the audacity to walk into her establishment and order food (and I know it isn't just me... look at some other reviews). I can't in good conscience go back there knowing full well how I'll be treated (the cashier is always friendly, it's just the lady who I'm pretty sure is the owner/manager who is always miserable). I'd like to give a better rating , however over the past ten years I've noticed a decline in the quality and experience in this place. They've really spruced up the interior and brand but while doing so, they took away the "history" of removing the classic pacman/aliens arcade table game and discontinuing the Shamrock stamp card. The prices have skyrocketed and the quality has decreased in the product over the past few years (except the Shamrock Shakes) . I feel that the only "homemade burger" they have now is the Famous burger since the size and quality has been the only constant in their burger selection. I still can say that the burgers are good, but it used to be able to say that they were great. I remember as an early teenager coming here to a jammed packed place where the original staff/owners would be so friendly and inviting. Now it's the total opposite. All the staff seem friendly, but lack the guest interaction. The manager/supervisor had to be the low in the whole experience. Seems like every time I've ordered she acts as if she hates her job by lack of personality and tone of voice when I ask for a combo. I feel bad for the staff because I can tell she brings them down. And for some reason two years ago, a cashier that was just hired there that I knew personally was told by that manager not to talk to guests, even though I was the only person there at the time. Kinda weird eh!? My only real highlite now in coming in is seeing my team picture on the wall by the entrance and remembering when they had us come in for free meals at the end of our season. read more

This is a place I have been going to over 30 years. I stopped in tonight with a buddy and was told it was a 15-20 minute wait she was the only one there. That's fine its. Worth the wait. I have been in a situation like that before and if it was me I'd be....... any how she was a pro. Very polite efficient, since she was by herself.. She must have had a few extra onion rings, so she gave them to my friend and I for waiting, and they were the best onion rings I have ever had, and most times I don't like them, because people use frozen ones, yuck. I've definitely had way better burgers for a fraction of the price. 2/5 Onion Rings - Came here specifically because I was craving onion rings and I was again disappointed. The batter was incredibly thick that I honestly don't even know if I even got any onions. Because the batter was thick, it was very greasy. Onion rings shouldn't be THAT greasy. I've had thicker rings with big rings of onions that weren't as greasy. The amount of grease actually left me feeling a bit ill in the middle of the night. Very small location. Maybe 6-8 seats. Friendly staff. Easy to read easy to select in confusing menu. Not too many options. In my opinion one of the best burgers in Toronto.
