Came across this place when I was on my way to Gatlinburg, TN. Now the only thing I had ever seen from A&W was the root beer but I knew for years they had actual restaurants it was just none were by me. So I had to take this opportunity right?.... RIGHT?! This one in particular we visited I believe I was told was the first one ever built. Pretty cool. Service was good and quick as well. Now for the food. I just got a burger and fries as you can see here. This was hands down probably the worst fast food burger I have ever had. This thing was tasteless and dry but had a weird aftertaste almost like a school lunch burger (if you know you know). I couldn't take anymore than 2 bites before I flat out just couldn't eat it anymore. 1/10 The fries were okay. Crispy with a slightly weird texture and I think that comes from whatever they are battered in. 5/10. Hands down would absolutely never ever try this place again. Do I regret it? No. I am happy I can actually say I've had it but I just don't ever want to have it again lol. read more

I have eaten here several times. Out of LC, Vonore, Loudon, and Madisonville they have the best burgers and onion rings hands down!

Ol' School Car Hop!! I liked the vibe and brought back nostalgic memories. I ordered the "Papa Burger" its a double cheese burger with the typical fixings. I don't tend to gravitate to charbroiled burgers due to their taste. I did find the burger a bit dry due to minimal amount of condiment sauce (mustard, mayo....etc). Would rate the burger a 2.5 star. I did find the fries to be fresh, hot, and the right amount of crispness. Overall a decent experience. There menu does have a lot of classics that should fit everyone's needs. read more

This is an original location not just a pop up chain. The service is always friendly and prompt, the food is consistently good, and the restaurant and drive up area is always clean. We go to this location several times a year when passing through. I believe it is better than the competitors drive in chain. read more

I've heard about their hotdog. Was prepared for something at least the size of your average hotdog in grocery store. More like 3/4 at most. It was tiny! The average person would definitely more than one, at $5.+ each. read more

This is a great A & W...love the 50's themed car- hop vibe!! The burgers here are pretty good, better then most chains. Came for the root beer floats! Very cold with quite a bit of vanilla ice cream. We got a tray with the mugs mmmmmmmmyummmmm!!!! The restrooms here are located in the back and they are very clean. Would definitely recommend stopping in. read more

I've been coming to this A&W for years. It's very rare that it disappoints. Sometimes everything I order comes out perfect and yummy. Other times it's sloppy and cold. However, I have had more good experiences than bad here and that is why I am giving it a 4 star review. read more

Every single time we order it ends up being wrong. Paid almost $40 for 4 bacon cheeseburger combos that had no bacon. Second visit we ordered slaw dogs but got no slaw. And you're treated like you did something wrong when you come back. Poor service and quality. Will not be back. Too expensive. The wait is long. And you're order is never right. I stop by here on my way to visit family in near by Maryville, Several times over the years since about '95. Not really sure why or how, but this old time drive in location always has the freshest and most flavorful tasting A&W Root Beer I have ever had. My review is based on that alone. I have never once eaten here, or had bad or slow service. My rating is straight up if you are a connoisseur of Root Beer then you have to swing by. I always purchase a gallon jug of it. This does not taste like the commercial store version, or the cans or bottles at the quickie mart. The flavor profiles are what you would expect true Root Beer to taste like. read more

We drive about 30 miles to enjoy this drive-in.....what a wonderful place, like stepping back in time to enjoy a Papa Burger and a cold A & W root beer, which is the very best root beer on earth, in my opinion. The service is okay, the burgers are good and meaty, tastes like a Mom and Pop burger joint would make. Yes, you sit in your car and eat, push the button and order the food, they bring it out....It has always been prompt on our visits. The root beer milkshakes are awesome and soooo filling, you will feel stuffed all day !! The fries are okay, nothing special.....we have even ordered a gallon of root beer to go, which did take a few minutes for them to prepare. They apparently have a classic car "drive in" on Saturday evenings I think the sign says......show off your classic car I guess.... Anyway, we'll be going back. read more

The fries are always hot and crispy. My favorite fries come from this A&W. Good shakes and burgers. The bacon burger is amazing.
