I attempted to connect to a few highly rated services in my area via Yelp but everyone was booked. I went back to Yelp's search feature and found Justin and A Better Appliance Repair. He got back to me very quickly and was able to squeeze me in to his busy Friday schedule. He showed up within his estimated window (which was late this evening) and went right to work diagnosing the issue with my Maytag. Thankfully he had parts on hand to repair it (new capacitor). He also offered a cleaning service for under my fridge, which it desperately needed. Justin's work was methodical and his manner was professional and friendly. He also did a great job cleaning up and everything he moved to do his work he carefully placed back exactly where it was before he moved it. My fridge that they repaired broke again with the same problem in less than 5 months. Although I have a one year warranty from this shop, there's no way I'm going with them this time. I ended up calling another repair shop. The new tech said the defrost board is malfunctioning and has to be replaced. I told him about what I went through with Better Appliance Repair and he was shocked to learn that I was charged close to 1K for my repair (which didn't even fix the issue), and that Better Appliance Repair replaced the parts that weren't even related to the core problem. Even a fellow appliance repair technician thinks these guys are a bunch of BS. So yeah there it is. read more

This is my second time using A Better Applicance Repair and this time was equally as good as the first time, This experience was on my gently used Whirlpool Cabrio platinum model for it started to sing, squeak and scream at me though functionally it was performing just fine. However I needed to close both doors to the laundry room and turn up the music for sanity sakes. I googled the symptoms and pretty much nailed the issue in about 30 minutes or R & D along with giving me two other possible but not probably issues. So I went with the primary and started calling around! Geez, everyone is having Applicance issues it seems for attempting to get a tech to call you back takes 1-3 days per se and then another 2-3 days to get scheduled was my experience. Found out Justin has been very ill and has not been able to get to his other jobs much less get calls. So on Tuesday after a few more calls, he called me back and he still wasn't 100% he came out Wednesday. btw, no one hardly gives out simple non-guaranteed cost estimates. As a customer you just have to blindly have them come out and if not happy with the price there is little you can do for you now have too much invested. Justin did confirm my guess as to what was broken or ailing the dryer, so I felt good about that factor HOWEVER I was not fond of the price to repair. However it seemed EVERYONE IS USING THE STANDARD LABOR BOOK which quotes times, parts etc and they are all charging visitation charges which can be applied to the work if you choose them to repair it. Imagine the costs if the official Maytag or Whirlpool rep came out for repairs so given my previous experience withh A B-A-R Co. So, I said just fix it. During the repair Justin asked me to come look at the inside of the dryer and he showed me that the high amount of dust/lint that had accumulated on all the parts and within the base of the machine and it was HUGE which will lead to FIRES, and he showed me the burnt spots where the lint was actually burning due to the high heat. He told me as owners once a year we must tear off the front and vacuum out all the lint to ensure out machines and houses do not catch on fire. This is more that I knew for I do keep the lint collector cup and screen clean BUT THAT IS NOT ENOUGH IN MY VIEW. SO, Justin gave me an moment of wisdom, insight and education that cost me nothing and was priceless!! I will use Justin in the future, recommend him and THANK HIM for Fixing my dryer when he was just getting back to health and getting it done in a couple of hours. Thank you Justin! This was my worst experience of all vendors on Yelp I worked with so far. It all started on Jan 5th and a visit was scheduled for Jan 6th due to flat tire issue visit happened on Jan 7th. Then I was told he will come back on Jan 10th but when I followed up I was told he will be back on 14th. Then, I was told he had fever, which then turned into something else and could not come. since then it turned into no show and no fix. I sent couple texts (Jan 31 and Feb 5th) with no response but the $75 initial consultation check cleared 2/11 very promptly. Interaction felt like it was just a way to make quick money and did not demonstrate any ability to diagnose issue but above all no regard for customer issue and customer communication. I would not recommend this service to anyone. read more

I found A Better Appliance Repair through yelp as I needed some repairs for a stove. Our flat top stove had stopped working and the "hot surface" light was stuck on. We made an appointment and Justin arrived very casually dressed and just with a backpack of tools. He took a look at the stove and discovered the issues of a dead logic board and a faulty heating element sensor. He was able to replace the logic board but had to drive to a warehouse to get the additional part for the heating element. He worked quickly and while it took about an hour for him to get the heating element, he was finished soon and we were happy with the work. We would recommend this company if we have to use them in the future. read more

Setting an appointment was easy and he called 20 minutes before arrival. He quickly diagnosed the issue but because my washer is over 25 years old, the part is not available. He spent time refitting the case I had messed with and gave me some recommendations for a replacement washer. Here's the weird part - he wouldn't take payment even when I insisted. Just "give me a call if you need to use my services again in the future"...Who does that??? Wishing to avoid the hassles of appliance repair (phone tag with repairman, multiple appointments, etc), I ignored a leaking washing machine for weeks. Knowing the leaking water may be causing more extensive damage, I finally called justin. I placed a request for service because my Maytag Neptune clothes drier had not been working properly. I explained the situation and Justin from A Better Appliance Repair was the first to respond to my request. (I had placed about 10 requests on the 29th of January before the holiday weekend.) I scheduled an appointment with Justin for the next afternoon as soon as I could get off work. I ended up being about 10 minutes late due to traffic, and Justin was so polite and courteous about it. I was in constant contact with him and let him know what was going on (I hadn't expected traffic at 1:30 on the 60, completely my fault), but Justin was very understanding. He began to diagnose everything right away, and told me the drier itself looked to be heating ok, but that the vents leading to the outside had become extremely clogged. He said that even if I purchased a brand new drier, the vents would still need to be cleaned out or a new drier would have the exact same effect. He was extremely thorough, answered my barrage of questions, and even rearranged the doors on both my washer and drier so they are now like French doors instead of opening backwards like they used to be. I never knew the doors could be switched out like that! Justin explained that my drier had been too close to the wall and that had caused a lot of the duct work to become clogged. He told me that a lot of the lint was also very wet in the duct work due to the partial soft vent work that was placed when the house was built. Needless to say, this man knows his stuff. He had all of the necessary parts to complete everything for me and replace the damaged tubing. He also made recommendations for preserving the drier in the future and told me what I might expect from a unit of my driers' age. Seriously, look no further, this is your appliance repair go to guy. Our 4 year old LG refrigerator stopped working on a Friday early afternoon (#justgreat). I first called Sears appliance repair, who, after a game of 50 questions, told me the earliest they could send someone out would be in a week and a half. WHO can wait a week and a half for their fridge to be repaired?!? I hung up the phone and started looking for alternatives on Yelp. Justin answered the phone and asked a few questions about the problem we were having with our fridge. He kindly explained that he was driving, but said to text him a few details and he could be out to our house later that day. I texted him our address, the error code I was seeing, and a picture of the model number / tag and we were set. He showed up to our house later that day as promised, took a look at the fridge for a bit, and then informed us what the problem was (which was what I suspected based on my internet digging using Google and the error code I was seeing). He said he had already picked up the parts and could repair it immediately if that was what we wanted (#betterthanbuyinganewfridge). The fridge was up and running, good as new within an hour or two of his arrival (and within about 5 hours of my original distress call to him). Justin installed our Ikea oven cos essentially Ikea's installers, all subs from the Traemand service, said they would not hook it up for us, so we rang folks all over the east valley. Justin did his due diligence, went out to get the parts needed, and got the job done. Took a while cos he had to do some necessary and unexpected work to get the thing ready and safe to put in, and was totally transparent about what was needed. I was having problems with the Whirlpool washing machine in our new house so I came to trusty yelp to find someone that does repairs. I chose A Better Appliance Repair based on their great reviews, and I was not disappointed! Justin called me back minutes after I left a message, he was able to come out the next day that we were available to be home, he let me know when he was on his way, he was on time, professional and friendly...you can't get better than that! After taking a look at our washer, Justin explained what was wrong and what all of our options were and the cost. My LG dryer stopped heating the other day. This being the first time I've needed an appliance repaired, I had no idea who to call. So I googled "appliance repair reviews Chandler" and Yelp showed up on the first page so I browsed through some listings and reviews. I picked a company and wrote them for a quote. Once I hit the send button yelp offered to send my same request to several more companies. Why not, right? So I did and by the end of the day I had 6 responses. All sounded reasonable and similar but I decided to call Justin (and incidentally, he wasn't the company I initially wrote). There was just something in his initial response that made me feel I should give him a shot. I called, he answered, and an appointment was made for the next day. He called 15 min before the appointment to let me he was on his way. He got to work and soon offered his assessment plan for repair and total costs, which sounded correct and to which I agreed. Before long I had a working dryer again. He was prompt, thorough, and professional. For my first appliance repair experience it couldn't have been any less troublesome. Unfortunately, we hired A Better Appliance Repair because of their 5 star reviews on Yelp. We previously had our refrigerator diagnosed by another company but wasn't able to have it fixed through them. When A Better Appliance Repair arrived, we told him exactly what was wrong with our refrigerator. He said that wasn't the problem, and replaced a more expensive part and charged us $300. It worked for a few days and I bought over $100 of groceries, then lo and behold- we wake up to a broken, stinky refrigerator. We call the company and he is out of town. He says he won't reimburse us for replacing the wrong part and misdiagnosing our refrigerator. He even got quite rude with my husband. Now, we are out $400 and a lot of frustration for no reason.
