Communication with this company is seriously lacking. I called multiple times to schedule my initial repair and my calls were declined and I was sent a text saying, "can't talk. Call me later?" From then on out the only form of communication has been via text and it's always "I'll have to check tomorrow" or "I'll get back to you when I'm in the office" and then there is ZERO follow thru. I have been without a washing machine for over 7 weeks. My parts are always either "not approved yet," "haven't arrived" or are "sitting on my truck." My home warranty company has confirmed all parts have been approved and Jim's Place acknowledges they have them yet again I've been told he'd contact me today to schedule my repair. He has not contacted me at all. I would highly recommend avoiding this company at all costs and if you're assigned them by your home warranty I'd request a change of repair company before they even come out to do their initial inspection. read more

A lifted full size truck pulls up, 2 very young guys walk up my walkway and I'm thinking, who is this? Kyle introduces himself as the owner and hands me his business card. I had never met nor spoken to him to this point as Yelp arranges the appointment through the app and txt messages. Stunned and confused I let them enter the home. He began to triage my concerns with the unit-not pumping water to the front door or making ice any longer. He then disassembled our fridge, tested some water and electrical connections and quickly diagnosed our issue-faulty water inlet valve/motor. He called back within 1 business day with a final quote, I accepted. He ordered the parts and returned within a week. New part was cleanly installed and now a week later, we are still making ice and have running water from our fridge. Just in time for summer tea! Don't be intimidated...Trust them!!! read more

I called this morning after speaking with my 2-10 home warranty company and the contractor to schedule an appointment for someone to come out to fix my dryer that was making a clanging sound. The contractor from 2-10 would not be able to come out until Monday, which today is Wednesday. They were booked. Asked 2-10 if they had another contractor they could have come out, but that meant canceling my work order and risk whomever they would choose to come out to have a later service call. They could not give me any service contractor name and numbers without canceling my work order. I asked if I had a service contractor, can I use them if they're available. They said, yes. Found Jim's Place through their Yelp reviews and he was able to squeeze me in today. Called 2-10 back and they told me what the process was with non 2-10 contractors. My portion would be to still pay my normal $60 fee, but getting the work order would be different. Called Jim's Place a little after 9 am. I told Kyle the problem with my dryer. He said he could fix it. I asked what the normal price would be. He said $99. I told him I would go through paying via 2-10 since that was less expensive for me. 2-10 gave me the okay to use this company so I sent an appointment with Kyle, sending over the details of my dryer to him via text. Kyle texted me that he would be over in about 45 minutes, so 11:30 am, which he and Sebastian were here a little after that. I asked if they had shoe covers, but they said they ran out. They took off their shoes to come in, as we only wear house shoes or go barefoot or socks. Within probably 5 minutes or so, he found the issue. A loose screw wedged in some area between the seal and tub, causing a metal scraping sound/clanging. I believe my son had screws or nails in his pocket and it went into the dryer. Next time I'm charging my teenage son for being careless. They put the dryer back together. I think the whole time being in my home was approximately 15 minutes. They were very nice, professional. Oh, when I said let's call 2-10, Kyle said he would drop his fee to $60 so we don't have to go through the home warranty company. That saved time, too. I liked his willingness to be flexible and do what made sense to save both of us time and money. Will keep this company as a list of companies to call for future appliance repair. Being available and doing a good job, with reasonable prices are HUGE!!! Also, because of CoViD19, they were careful to only touch what they absolutely needed and kept their distance from me. update.. well it turns out the fan didn't fix the issue, and the fridge is actually kaput :(. however, I commend Kyle for taking the time to customize a different fan model since they no longer make the part for my fridge. Unfortunately, there ended up being more wrong with it than what was initially discovered (and no way to know til the new fan was installed). Referred by a friend who used them a few years ago. I have an older Kenmore washer/drier unit(s) and washer leaking. Was told previously by others that I had good units. Called Kyle and he agreed that these were good and worth repairing. Came out same day as he had cancelations. He and his helper had washer disassembled in no time but had to get part nearby. I asked for tune on drier as well so please get needed parts as well. Both units working good as new now and hopefully will last a few more years. Wasted $89 on a service call for my dishwasher last week. Kyle diagnosed the problem as the drain pump but did not have the part. This was last Friday morning and he said that he would check warehouse for the part and call me back for possible install that afternoon or Monday. He did not call back, so I called him late afternoon that day for an update. He said he had been busy but would check and call me back right away. Here we are a week later and I have never heard back from him. I'm still without a dishwasher and now need to start over and pay another repair company for another service call. We have a large built in refrigerator and had several issues with it- freezer wasn't working, no water coming out and ice sporadically. We had another company come out and they claimed to fix all the issues but they did not- and they even broke the door on the freezer but claimed it was fine- even After multiple attempts and fails at fixing it. After many months of frustration we finally contacted Jim's Place. They quickly identified the issue and came back two times with the correct parts to fix the issue. He and his partner practically took the giant fridge apart to reach these parts and replace them. We had to wait for the parts for quite some time because of factory delays due to Covid, but Kyle kept us updated on the delivery and came out the same day the parts arrived. The center bolt was completely rusted and he needed to take the machine back to his office to weld a bolt on. He returned it when he promised and it works great now.
