This is not really a moving company, it's a criminal theft ring. I had the only 3 valuable items in my entire shipment stolen, including a valuable and irreplaceable painting. The costs were not accurately estimated and neither was the delivery timeline. Terrible service and company. read more

A Better Tripp moved the contents 5,000 square foot home from the suburbs of Houston to the inner loop. My furniture was in storage for a few months. They packed everything meticulously and made sure all was safely stored. When they arrives with my furniture at my new place, they carefully unpacked and placed all my beautiful furniture. They also assembled all my beds. They worked diligently and efficiently. Excellent value for my money. Not one thing was broken or left out of place. I highly recommend. I hired A Better Tripp Moving to do a long distance move into a storage unit for a temporary move back in August 2020. After receiving multiple quotes from other companies, A Better Tripp Moving came it on the lower-end (although, I do believe they were running a promo at the time), didn't inundate me with calls to get me to choose them like multiple other moving companies, and I had always heard raving reviews about this mover in the past. Melvin was fantastic. He was alway friendly, quick to return my phone calls and provided an accurate quote after the in-home estimate. Day of the move, the movers arrived closer to the middle or end of the time slot they provided for arrival but were some of the most efficient, hard-working movers I've ever worked with. I can't recall how long it took for them to move my items, but they did an excellent job. Once my items were loaded onto the truck, they were going to be loaded onto the semi the next day that was heading to ATL. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough room on the semi so the shipping of my items was delayed by a few days. However, it wasn't a big deal since the items would be sitting in a storage unit in a different state, so it really made me no difference. Even though Melvin knew that I didn't have a strict date in which these items would need to be in ATL, he was completely empathetic when he told me the news. I received updates from the Better Tripp Moving team once my items were loaded and they provided an accurate ETA on when the semi would make it to ATL. This was important since I wasn't in ATL at the time and needed to coordinate everything with a friend. For as many logistics were involved in this move plus the added fun of moving during a pandemic, A Better Tripp Moving made this is a seamless process, communicated with me at every step of the way, and really helped calm any nerves or anxiety I might have. In terms of the state of my items, there was a broken vase (I packed everything myself) and a broken desk drawer. But, for as many times my items had to be loaded on/off the truck and by other movers (not just A Better Tripp's Houston-based team), it's really difficult to say who was at fault. It's also rare for a long distance move to have absolutely 0 damages and I still felt incredibly satisfied with the overall experience and service I received that they are still well deserving of a 5 star review. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!! I had several issues with the move, including them not packing and moving everything (which cost me several hundred more dollars to hire a second moving company). Below is exactly what I sent to A Better Tripp in an email immediately after the move. They have done nothing to rectify this situation other than to say "we are within our legal window to respond." Wow, what great customer service!! The email is below: 1. As I explained to Dan this was supposed to be a complete pack and move, with the exception of a few items that I specified, including to the movers. Specifically, the closet in the guest bedroom and certain items in my son's room were to be excluded. While the movers were there, I was able to remove all of the things from my son's room that were excluded and instructed the movers that EVERYTHING else in the room was to be packed and moved. Unfortunately, there were multiple non-furniture items in every single room that the movers neglected to move. Just by way one of many examples, there were two trunks to moved and only one was moved (see picture). They were within five feet of each other. Just a note that, with the exception of one chair in the master bath, all of the furniture was moved; the movers were instructed not to move the table in the 2nd picture. Also, I had already personally moved several boxes before I took the pictures, including six boxes I loaded as the movers sat in their trucks waiting to depart for the new house. None of the movers offered to help me with those. 2. Movers are not packers and packers are not movers. Having a mover pack makes no sense. Things, such as small Rubbermaid containers, were unnecessarily very carefully wrapped. This was not only unnecessary but it also added to the materials cost. 3. Boxes were not properly labeled. Seven boxes were labeled as kitchen. This was not helpful in trying to find silverware. 4. A glass was broken and not cleaned up (see picture). 5. When I heard the trucks start, I went and checked the storage room on the back of the garage (something I had discussed in detail with Dan and shown him on the walk-through) and it had not been touched. When I brought this to the attention of the foreman he chastised me and scolded me for not telling him about it. 6. My daughter's headboard was damaged by, apparently, oil that was on the moving blanket. Even though someone had attempted to clean it (it was wet with chemical) nobody brought it to my attention. When I brought it to the foreman's attention he also seemed to be unaware of it but assured me "I will tell my boss." When you and I spoke on Monday you were not aware of it. These are the things that come to mind, at the moment. Needless to say, after paying $3,300 for a move, the most tedious and hardest part remains. This is not what I paid for and far from the experience I expected. I have now schedules another moving company, at an expense of at least $500 and my time and my wife's time, to come back in and do what I expected A Better Tripp to do. read more

I have worked in self-storage for many years. As a result I have observed and worked with, quite literally, dozens upon dozens of moving companies. When it came time for me to move, I used A Better Tripp. It's also one of a select few companies I recommend to my customers (even over other moving companies who offer commissions to people in my line of work for referrals, yes this happens) because when I used them they were professional, quick, and friendly. They moved me from a third story apartment to a house about 40 minutes apart and I was very pleased with what I saw. Their rates were reasonable as well. I've also had them move my brother and close friends who had similar experiences. Moving is stressful and ABetterTripp made their part of it hassle free for me. Also, just be aware, and I say this as a general moving tip no matter who you are or who's moving you: Have as much done as possible before they arrive. Pack smart. Move the small, expensive, or super sentimental things yourself. Be friendly and kind to the movers, just like you would a chef or waiter in a restaurant. Don't assume it'll take the minimum amount of time. In the three-ish years I've been recommending them, I've yet to have a complaint. read more

A better Tripp is in my experience a very honest and reputable company. I had made a mistake and went online to look for a company to move us from Houston to Waco. I was inundated with phone calls immediately. It was almost bordering on harassment. Some other companies were reasonable and other simply weren't. If you are new to getting a mover then there are guides online. I looked seriously into perhaps 1 or 2 other companies. One was quoting an insane figure to move us and another we would have to list every single item or it wouldn't be included in the estimated price. I was getting desperate but somehow remembered about seeing a better tripps website. I called and quickly discussed my situation with a moving specialist there. He was very patient w me and explained the ins and outs of what I went through and fully answered my questions. Allen saw me through the planning stages. He referred me where I could buy boxes as well as a very responsible agency to clean the apartment after the move. Tracy I believe was her name was a very responsible employee. She was I believe in charge of logistics for our move. She and the employees were very competent and professional. One of the movers only helped pack the truck and didn't travel to Waco w us. Tracy worked with us to give him a tip. All of the movers were very friendly and we actually tipped them more than we planned because of their attitude. All in all a very positive experience and if we moved again I would use them again. I found that a fixed price move as well as not having to list each item to go on the truck ideal. A better trip did just that. Allen even came to our apartment to make sure what items we had to prepare the movers and make sure we didn't need something packed special so it wouldn't break ect. It took 14 hours costing $2,200 to move a 2bed/2bath and 1/4 garage with the excuse that it's because they had to use stars to get to the second floor instead of an elevator. They charged me for their lunch break as well until I said something about it. As I'm unpacking I'm missing several items. I'm going to have to pull the boxes out of my storage unit to find my stroller, new dishes and several other items. However Linda Fowler is less then a pleasure to deal with every time. Linda seems frustrated with any questions. I assume she is the receptionist, however she is not even pleasant, seems arrogant and in a rush to get off the phone. She has no care about customers concerns or feelings. After being burned by the previous moving company I used, I was a bit apprehensive to go with A Better Trip Moving & Storage; however, I have zero complaints! I called and organized my move from Houston to Austin with Melvin. He ended up giving me a flat rate (that was much less than the competitors) and said my three man moving crew would arrive between 8-9am. The guys arrived promptly at 8:15am on moving day. They were quick and efficient. They wrapped my fragile belongings and were careful not to damage anything. Prior to their arrival I called the office and requested a few wardrobe boxes which to my surprise they did not end up tacking on any additional charges for. Let me start by saying this was our 5th long distance, cross country move. As such, I feel like I am qualified to do a review based upon experience with the overall process and multiple moving companies. A word of caution, NEVER POST OR REQUEST MOVING RATES ONLINE. Evidently your name, contact info and move specifics are shared (sold?) with dozens of moving companies. You will regret that decision very quickly. Also, do NOT believe what you are told over the phone when speaking to one of these sharks. I can honestly state the company that moved us from Charlotte to Houston should be shutdown. They were beyond awful and the help to pack, load and unload were all from a craigslist ad that was posted, no kidding, really no vetting, no experience. They stole my camera and lenses, and a couple of small paintings on the Charlotte side. In Houston, they stole my extension ladder and my change bottle with a couple hundred dollars in it... the items came into the house, were checked off as delivered and went straight to someone's car, or more likely, the delivery truck since it was a huge ladder. Ok, enough of me ranting about the company that moved us from Charlotte to Houston, this review is about A Better Tripp movers. I did my homework and contacted Melvin to start the pricing and overall requirements of the move from Houston to West Palm Beach, FL. Melvin came out and did a walk through to determine the price point for this pack & move.we partially packed some of our items but I would say that A Better Tripp packed about 70-75% of our 2900 sq ft, two story home. We have some really heavy items, a LOT of antiques and a smattering of unique, irreplaceable antiques with either extreme emotional attachment or priceless in that you just could find that item at any price to replace it if broken, lost or damaged. We received the quote and then had to wait a few weeks to determine when the items could be delivered. When we got the quote it felt a "little" higher than we expected. In all of my communication with Melvin he was extremely professional and I felt they would do a good job so we went ahead and booked them for the move. BEST MOVER DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE!!! The driver stayed in touch with us during the drive and was prompt with delivery date. They hired a crew of movers from a moving company here in WPB. They were extremely professional and knew what to do and why. They were helpful in every way, moving furniture from one place to another if requested. We moved from 2958 sq ft home into an 1810 sq ft home. It has taken us 2 months to unpack and figure out what to do with our excess furniture and other items from a much larger home. Out of everything that got moved there were only 2 items broken. TWO. That is beyond normal, that is exceptional! Really, you could make the argument that only 1 item was broken because the second item was a MDF (particleboard) bookcase. They rarely make it through a move. I would use this company EVERY TIME I MOVE if I could!, they are great and they have mad packing skills! Hat's off to a job well done. A Better Tripp moved some of my furniture and breakable items from Houston to California for me. They were very professional and did a great job. Everything made it safely. I was in frequent contact with the truck drivers on the morning of the delivery and the day of the pick up. Every time I called their office leading up to the move everyone was very friendly and helpful in addressing my concerns. There are two items I'd like to note (1) They sent me a quote that needed to be updated (they had assumed I wanted the minimum insurance, which was incorrect, and did not include packing material), and I never actually received a paper copy of the update until the day of the move. They did give me a quote on the phone and it was the same as the paper copy. (2) It was hard to nail down a pick up date with them. They gave me a 2 week window and called the day before to say they would be picking things up. They were prompt and on time, it was just a bit of a rush to get everything coordinated in the end. All in all, everything went GREAT and I am very happy with A Better Tripp. The reviews posted before me on Yelp are not great, but if you search around on the internet you will find additional information on them from a lot more people. read more

A better Tripp moved my belongings from Houston to Washington, D.C., 3 men came to pack up our furniture and pick up things we chose to pack up. They were very professional and very careful with our things. Our things arrived without any issues. My only complain was that the driver took a little longer to let us know on the status of his arrival to DC, but once we spoke he clarified when to expect our things and time. Summary: Shipped goods from Houston, TX to Pleasanton, CA. Loading and unloading were performed by the shipping driver and assistant. Cons: The fellow who packed and drove the truck broke three legs off of a 1200$ cherry wood and leather bench. Bench beam (attached to legs) was also split in half. On arrival in Pleasanton, the fellow argued that since it could be fixed, it wasn't broken. He refused to document the damage on the form and drove off. He was unprofessional and extraordinarily rude- and told the shipping office that I broke the bench (an outright lie). The shipping company gave me $54 (per the insurance agreement) to repair it. Tried to find a furniture repair company in the area- all required me to deliver the bench to the facility. So, I've an expensive, broken bench. Pros: The office staff were very helpful and professional. It's probable, judging from the other reviews here, that this was a pretty rare accident involving one absolutely awful employee. The company offered to pay for repairs (beyond the $54 insurance) within reason- but I couldn't find anyone to repair it. Overall, I'd bet that this is a great company and that we just both got unlucky with a really unstable employee. read more

A Better Trip Moving & Storage is the worst business that we have ever come in contact with...because: 1. Requested max price prior to the move and was told they don't give a max price on local moves------that should have been my first clue that this was going to go badly, but they came highly recommended. 2. Requested a 4th person prior to the move to help speed up the move time, they said yes that would probably save us money-------the 4th person stayed on the truck the entire time going through our possessions and opening our boxes searching for items to take 3. They sent a truck that was too small for the items such as refrigerator, antique armoire, wine fridges and dishwasher that we listed in the contract for the move. In the end they refused to move any of the appliances because they told us we would have to hire their appliance movers if we wanted it moved. 4. They (4 movers) took 14 hours to move a two-bed room apartment that did not include our clothing, china, crystal or kitchen items. We had already moved those items to storage prior to the move. 5. They did not complete the move - we had to hire a new company to complete the job they were hired to do. The new movers All My Sons moved all of the appliances with no issues and arrived with a large moving truck 6. they overcharged for services not rendered 7. they purposely slowed actual move time by wrapping items that did not require wrapping 8. they lost valuable items saying someone else must have taken them while they left them unattended at the elevator landing 9. they left many of our items behind-some we found on different floors of the apartment complex the following day and some we never found 10. they damaged valuable items 11. they damaged the new house that was the destination for the move ceiling and wall damage from the first floor stairwell through to the 3rd floor bedroom moving our king size mattress. 12. We paid them $2,550 for a move that was not complete and had to pay another mover to finish the job at the cost of $800 making the move of a 2-bedroom apartment $3,350 But worst of all there was a complete lack of empathy and professionalism. No return calls and no resolution from the complaints; just cold-hearted smirks. There was no response; no apology from "A Better Trip" when confronted with the shoddy work. A Better Tripp is an AWESOME company. I researched for MONTHS and because I had a VERY small long distance move (MA to CA, and only about 5 items), it was hard to find a company that would move my stuff at a reasonable price. The reason I decided to go with a moving company instead of just selling and re-buying my stuff is because I have a very big, very heavy, VERY expensive Tempurpedic bed due to chronic back pain. It requires special care and ABT did just that! Allan was my move coordinator and he was very communicative and helpful. The movers on both ends were AMAZING - so fast and kind and good-hearted. It did take about 3.5 weeks for my things to arrive, but it worked out because I had my things picked up a bit in advance so they arrived only a few days after I did. The driver also made sure that he was able to park the huge truck in front of my apt in Oakland so I wouldn't have to pay the extra fees that it would have required to get a small "shuttle bus" to get my things to my apt which is on a main'ish street in downtown Oakland. The overall cost was definitely out of my budget (roughly $3,300) but it was worth it given the great customer service and the great customer reviews. I'm very happy! read more

The movers arrive promptly! 2 men movers however Princeton kept flirting with me the entire day of the move asking me multiple personal questions throughout the day from the moment he saw me even his colleague mentioned to him to stop before he get in trouble with "my boyfriend" felt extremely uncomfortable and just wanted to get it this day over with. Seems like he's was more focused on me than moving my things which even lead to him breaking my candles which aren't getting replaced due to the company "protection policy" they didn't pack my boxes so whatever is broken they are not responsible. Mr.Haynes dropped my box then persist to show me his mother's instagram stating that she has a candle business and that they will be replaced. After the move I heard nothing back from him, I contacted the company and the manger wasn't any help. TERRIBLE COMPANY. Do not use unless you want to experience every negative thing you have heard about moving companies. They are expensive which I hoped meant it would be a good experience. They loaded my things on Thursday morning and the following Sunday as I was expecting my things to be delivered to me in Arizona, I received a call from the driver that his truck broke down. Apparently they only have 1 truck because they towed the truck back to Houston where they supposedly tried to repair it. All the time my belongings are in the truck in 97 degree heat and 90% humidity. Eventually my things arrived 10 days later! When I asked to have my bill to be adjusted to reimburse me for 4 extra days I had to stay in a hotel, they passed me from one person to the next with no resolution. On delivery day they threatened to hold my belongings hostage until I gave them a credit card number to pay the bill. I'm not even going to go into the damage to my furniture and the lack of customer service during the unloading. read more

A Better Tripp was recommended to me by a friend. I called them and Melvin Parker assisted me. He came out and surveyed our home, gave us a quote to move in the same zip code with packing, loading, moving, unloading and set up of furniture. They only cover basic insurance (they recommended I check with my own insurance company for loss information and did so). I received phone calls from the office staff and emails as well to keep me in the loop. The crew that came was 4 men. Several packed while the others took apart the heavy furniture. The packing was done very well, they used a lot of paper and wrap to protect our fragile items. They did a great job in all aspects and got it all done in one day. Used this company twice, and both times they showed up late. With having to reserve freight elevators in buildings, it makes the move very difficult and more expensive when they miss the reserved window, so I was VERY specific that the time frame was critical. First move, they were an hour and a half late. Second move, they guaranteed me an on time start because it was the first move of the day, and were late again. Once they show up, there is 15 minutes of paperwork despite filling it all out in advance and submitting it to them. For both moves, I had to run around trying to apologize to the building management and smooth things over while they tried to fit in the move outside the window of reservation time. The movers speak very little English, or choose to, so communication is difficult. The second move cost 1.5 times the estimate. I won't use them again. read more

I had a really good experience with this company especially after I was assigned to my moving consultant Melvin. He not only calmed my stress with his personable attitude, but he was always available for whatever I needed to discuss and that was a plus for me. Like the last reviewer stated, getting a exact moving date nailed down didn't happen until close to the move date, but they did give me a window. So that's the only reason I wouldn't give 5 stars. The moving men with Jose at the lead were so nice, quick, and helpful, they also really made the experience seamless. I moved across the country and all of my items were recieved in the same condition they were packed. I was very skeptical about moving companies in general based on all the negative reviews online, but I must say this experience was a winner. read more

I was initially somewhat pleased with the move by a better tripp. The movers wrapped all of my stuff and seemed to take care of the items when I moved. I was also pleased with the department where you called to book the move. I was not as pleased that the movers took a 45 minute lunch/dinner break during our move and did not, at least to my knowledge, take this off of the time charged for the move. We had to actually call the facility and ask where the movers were because they were taking so long. I was willing to overlook this, however. I am now not as pleased with this company. I initially moved my stuff into a storage unit. I had to use a different moving company to move the stuff from the storage unit to my new house. The other moving company (3 men movers) was just as good, but they took much less time to move my items. It is my opinion that some of this was due to the fact that the items we were moving from a storage unit, but not all of it. I am now displeased because I had a box missing from the move. I don't know who lost the box, which was full of toys, but I contacted a better tripp and 3 men movers (which ended up costing me less money). A better tripp did not seem very concerned about locating the box, but keeps telling me its movers "do not steal" and that "they are not responsible because we moved to a storage unit." They also told me perhaps it was because I had not unpacked everything (I had unpacked everything). I told them, twice now, that I do not care who is responsible. I care about locating the lost box. I am not looking for their money, but I am looking for the lost toys which are important to my daughter. I am frustrated because in my opinion they are more concerned with denying liability than making extra efforts to locate the missing toys, or at the very least, being apologetic. After I wrote this review, a better tripp did refund my money for the lunch/dinner break, so I am pleased with this response, but I am still unhappy with, in my opinion, the seeming lack of concern over locating the toys. read more

Moving to me is a major hassle, like going to the dentist. Well I did some checking and found many companies in Houston were not listed by BBB, Angies List etc. so that to me was a quick NO, when I found A Better Tripp I asked several people where I work if they had heard of them, many said yes and that they had a great reputation. OK, I will call and see. 1st they have a real person that answers the phone, not press 1 for..., representative gets on phone and is very professional and asks many questions related to the move, then because of the size they made an appointment to come and do inventory, "I do not pack". Got the bid and said it was good to go. The crew was great, careful and on time. Plus the rep called the day of and the day after to be sure I was satisfied, plus gave me there cell number just in case. Excellent they are. Almost makes me want to move again. read more

Let me start by saying that I have used some really, really bad movers. I mean bad. Like, "I got ripped and I am still finding personal belongings broken and just totally gnarled" kind of bad. After my last move, one of the helpers literally walked out shaking his head at the "lead" guy while he sat there asking me for a good review (which they did not get.) So, when my mom hired ABetterTripp Movers to move her things to her new home with me, I was apprehensive to say the very least. And.... these guys were cautious. They were courteous. They smiled. They wrapped furniture. They did not stack things one on top of the other and then do wheelies in the truck on the way to the new house. (I can only assume that's what my last mover did.) They asked if there was anything else they could do before they left. They did not show irritation with our questions or when we added an item - only patience, respect, and patience. I recommend this company 100%. If only the others would take a card from their deck... Don't take a chance with your things - just go with these guys right off the bat. Their prices were competitive/in line with other companies - but their service completely bypassed every mover I've ever had. read more

When my grandfather passed away, A Better Tripp delivered the furniture I inherited. The items were very sentimental, especially an enormous, antique French armoire that was made of solid wood. I live in a second floor unit, and the angle of the stairs and the corners of the entryway made it impossible to get the piece in through the front door. However, knowing the piece was special, Shaun J. and company simply would not give up. They re-secured the armoire and hoisted it up and over the balcony railing. A special thank you to Shaun J., Terry and the staff for their efforts. It was nice to have the piece in our home during our first Christmas without my grandfather. read more
