And so let me tell you about my experience here. When I arrived there was lots of parking in the rear parking lot. Upon entering the studio I noticed it's been nicely renovated and the staff was friendly and energetic. I came for a full body massage and let me tell you - If you need a massage, Birna here is the best. I work out 3-4 times a week and was really tight feeling lots of discomfort when I arrived. And I can confidently say out of about 10 people throughout my life that I've been massaged by, Birna found all my knots without me telling her where it hurt and she applied the right amount of pressure to get through them without the it being too light or too painful. I found Studio Elle online and booked with them, since they were very close to where I live. Originally I had it scheduled for one day and changed it because something came up. They had availability that evening so I went in. To preface, their website is pretty simple, shows the services they offer and the prices. Single process color - $70. I get there and I meet Jose - now if you look at the other two reviews on here for Salon Elle, Corene S. HATED Jose's work so I was a little nervous, even though this was color, not a cut. Jose was...eh, not that friendly. I am TALKATIVE. I love when hair stylists talk to me, ask all sorts of questions. Yes, I'm the weirdo who loves small talk. But I expect it when I go to a salon. I go over to the chair, he offers me no spot to put my bag or jacket (I ended up putting them on the ledge where the mirror was). I told him I was there for color and tried finding a photo of what I liked from a few months back. Meanwhile, while I'm browsing facebook for photos, he's going back and forth with an employee/boss/coworker about someone having a pricing issue. Yeah, don't discuss that in front of customers. Eventually I show him photos and he brings back two shades of red and says he's going to combine them to get the shade I'm looking for. Sure, looks good. On the phone, they said the appointment would take 1.5 hours and it pretty much exactly did. He seemed to be evenly spreading the color, then I waited about 30 minutes, then he washed it out, all normal. During color and after he asked a few times what I thought - I told him both times my glasses aren't on and I can't see. (A previous salon had these little glasses 'gloves' that you can put on your glasses to prevent dying..guess they don't have these here. INVEST IN THEM, THEY'RE REALLY NICE FOR BLIND CUSTOMERS LIKE ME). He asked if I wanted my hair dried. I asked the cost ($25) and skipped it. He put some product in and then blow dried it for 30 seconds just to make it not soaking. I went over to put my glasses on and look at the color. It was DARK. And also really really really tangled - what did you put in my hair???? I got home and blowdried and flat ironed my hair and it's definitely a lot darker than I was hoping. I really wanted a dark red, but not much different than what I had (just fixing roots and all over one shade). It's black-ish now and though I have very dark brown hair naturally, this is a smidge too stark for me. I leave and he says "Okay, $75." I paid and tipped him but uhhhhhh where's the signs that tell prices? No where! I REALLY DISLIKE when a list of your services and prices are not visible to the customer. Let's just make up random prices! I like you, $50. I don't like you, $80! Tip me! Ugh. A good salon is up front about prices and services. Yeah sorry guys, I'm not coming back. Also their website has no hours, nor does google. It says "By appointment or by chance." Hey, they're honest.

I went here for a fill of my acrylic nails. The technician who worked on my nails did not appear to…read moreknow what she was doing. She fumbled around with the equipment, switching things out when she could not make them work. I chose a cat's eye polish that requires a magnetic drawn across the nail to produce the cat's eye effect. The technician didn't do this step and when I asked her about it, she had no idea what I was talking about. I told her to just forget it as long as I wasn't charged for the process. Two days later a huge part of a nail fell off. My nail beds got chewed up so much that any time she put a solution on my finger it stung. I have a visible scab on my thumb from the over aggressive cutting. I will not be back.

Why not five stars? They offer massages when people are drying but lace the tip jar with twenties and fifties .... is it a strategy? Sure!! But I find it kind of tacky...all almost all polished an up garage? Yeah.... that gets me a bit ... Does it stop me from going back? Not it all!

I went to Capello's a year ago for a highlight and trim after I bought a Groupon deal…read more Imagine you're in high school sitting with a bunch of strangers at a lunch table. That's how it felt to be at Capello's. The stylists were wildly unprofessional.. gossiping and bantering back and forth with inside jokes and juvenile sex-related conversation that made me feel really uncomfortable. It was like I wasn't even there.. just a wig head at a beauty school in one of their classes. They were dressed sloppy, were really immature, and really loud and annoying. My stylist kept taking breaks highlighting my hair to text someone on his iPhone. The salon was filthy. Hair all over the floor, laundry baskets inexplicably strewn about with dirty or clean towels in them, not sure which. I was given no consultation to speak of. This was another red flag... he just began highlighting my hair. I was offered no coffee or water as I waited, and I waited for the longest time I've ever had to wait for my highlights to develop. There was no music playing or anything. I wasn't asked if I wanted a magazine, and I didn't see any to pick up. End result: my hair was fried with really bad zebra stripes. I've never received worse highlights. When I got home and looked at the back of my head in a mirror and saw the GLOBS and circles (!?!?) of highlights inches away from my scalp, I basically cried. He also cut about 4 inches off of my hair when I asked him for just a trim. I had spent a long time growing out my hair and the stylist chopping it all off was a real bummer. To explain just how bad my experience was.... I've been getting my hair cut and highlighted at various salons for over 5 years. I've had so-so and great experiences in that time, but nothing like this. To convey how bad this experience was.... I HAVE NOT BEEN TO A SALON FOR COLOR SINCE. I was basically traumatized by this experience. I went back to my natural shade, I freshen my color at home, and I just go to supercuts to trim my ends. I am THAT afraid of salons now. So yeah. Avoid this place. It needs to be closed down.. which is probably happening soon since I was the only customer there on a Thursday afternoon.
