I had a gel manicure in late January and it was done by a young woman. The owner was critical of her throughout, and it seems the woman doing my nails was unsure of what to do next multiple times. I felt very bad for her and it felt like she was being treated like a child by the other manicurist. The gel chipped in less than a week and it felt like the whole thing was done with materials that didn't actually work. I could not go to my regular place which is why I tried Sunny but I will not be back. read more

I typically come here for pedicures, but was in a pinch to get my nails filled. (I normally get them filled at Pink Nails in Hamden, but didn't have the time to drive there) Sunny herself attended to my nails so I was confident that they would be great. I was wrong. You would think that she would see the condition of my nails when I first came in and worked off of the shape and length based off of what she saw, but no. She made my nails way too short and rounded them too much for my liking. 6 out of 10 nails dried with bubbles in the polish. I read that a UV Gel fill was I think like $40, but when all was said and done, she said it was $55, because she charged be $15 extra for something that I couldn't understand what she was saying. Since I was in a rush, I didn't argue because I quickly needed to get out of there. I will only be getting pedicures from here from now on. read more

I get a gel manicure, usually French. They always look great. Had a pedicure before my most recent vacation and got so many compliments about my nails. I am very flexible with time but have never had any issues with appoints or just walking in. Have been going here for about one year and have never had any problems. My first visit here was great! But my second visit was terrible!!!! I got a gel manicure that took almost two full hours. The woman clipped at my cuticles for over 30 minutes making three of my fingers bleed and swell so badly they still hurt a week later! Each time she caused me to bleed she would try to hide the blood from me along with trying to sneakily put something to make me stop bleeding but would hide it when her boss walked by. I was in so much pain I almost walked out and left. Half way through the manicure the boss came over to complete the job, making the woman watch her and showed her every spot she messed up. While the nails came out fine, I typically find getting my nails done relaxing but this was a torturous experience!!! Never going here again! read more

I recently moved to the area and have been here a few times. The mani/ pedi special for $38 is pretty good. It includes a paraffin wax on your hands and feet. The reason for the two stars is because they are extremely slow and give unrealistic wait times. Five minutes = twenty five minute wait. If you have a few hours to get a simple mani/pedi then this is your plaice. It will no longer be mine as this last customer experience was not so pleasant. read more

I called and made an appt for a manicure - when I arrived they acknowledged that I had called and then I waited for 45min, even left to run errands at one point. They never communicated how long the wait would actually be, otherwise I wouldn't have gone back after I left the first time. I drive over 20 mins from Madison just to come here even though there are several salons that are closer- Sunny's is that great! Extremely good quality and very reasonable prices. I've been to many different salons to get acrylic nails; after coming to Sunny Nails & Spa for the first time about two years ago, it's guaranteed that I will never be taking my business anywhere else. If you call in ahead of time to make an appointment it makes it a lot easier for every one- they will most likely have whichever time you desire available and you won't have to wait at all once you arrive. The workers here are so nice and really care about the quality of their work along with the satisfaction of the customer, I highly recommend this place. read more

My daughter needed a pedicure, without polish for an athletic event. I just wanted my lip waxed. Because the owner was working on a woman, and is the only one who knows how to wax, I decided to get a simple manicure. The young woman who worked on me was very nice, but needed some assistance. I was in a hurry, but was very patient because she was obviously learning. When the owner finally got around to waxing, she laughed hysterically each time I winced as she pulled off the wax. When I got home, after stopping at 2 stores, I was appalled at all the wax still on my face.I had thought people were staring at the redness! I can't believe she'd let a client leave her 'spa' looking like that. When I called to complain, and to ask how to remove the wax(oil), she laughed abd told me if I came back,she'd give me 3 dollars. Mani- pedis are the best and I wouldn't go to anyone else for my eyebrows- Sunny always does them perfectly. I just had a fab day with an Asian man named Vic. He was so excellent. They have a mani/pedi special for $37 and it includes paraffin wax on both hands and feet. He is a quiet man but very into his work. The spa is clean and new. I couldn't even smell chemicals or nail polish. They did have the back door open. I recommend the upgrade to the spa pedi with hot stones and massage. With the price so reasonable for the amount of time they spend with you, bring some extra for the tip. They completely ignored our bridal reservation and took all the walkins! We called to confirm multiple times the week of, and the morning of we were hung up on twice just to find the place full of clients. I am completely disappointed and we had to split up all over town. We were offered no apology or compromise. Don't expect professionalism from these people. They didn't have the space or atmosphere to accommodate paying customers, no a/c, no clean pumice for the feet! I had to leave to a cleaner facility and leave the bride with only one of her bridal party because I couldn't accept that disrespect! I wish I could say better about this salon, but I need to be honest for potential future customers who don't have the extra money to spend on something not worth it. While I found the salon to be clean (to the eye) and every employee I dealt w/was a pleasure to deal with, the pedicure I got was just not worth it. My feet were in need of some pampering, I hadn't had a pedicure in a couple years. I was disappointed that the end result looked just like when I paint my toes at home myself. Also, the amount of time it took to do the pedicure was a bit ridiculous. I've never had one that took as long, I actually think I've gotten a manicure and pedicure at other places in less time that came out much better. I really don't like saying negatives about a place w/such nice employees, but I personally don't have the extra money to spend on these types of things, so it was very disappointing to go here and not leave satisfied and I wouldn't want others to go through the same thing.
