The two puppies we found Hades & Echo
Keana H.

Me and my fiancé had came across 2 puppies who were sadly dumped by their owner. At first the task of taking on two babies overwhelmed us & we worried we wouldn't be the right fit for those dogs to have an enriched & fulfilling life. After booking a consultation appointment at A breed Apart Dog Training we almost cried with happiness because we're confident these babies are ours. Sean clearly communicated not just with the dogs but with us as owners on the work taking on two puppies can entail. We're both very excited to continue with him & put in the work to make these puppies apart of our family & loving home. Would recommend him to anyone!

We had a home consultation with Sean and he patiently helped us through ALL of our highly-sensitive 2.5 yr old chihuahua/dachshund mix (Frida)'s issues which included: anxious tail-chasing/spinning at mealtime, rushing the door to play outside, demanding barking at us to get us to do things, not fully potty trained (still uses wee wee pads). I honestly did not expect that anyone could help us SO COMPLETELY, I would have been happy to have solved just one or two of her issues but Sean covered it ALL. Unbelievably, before Sean even left our house, Frida was a different dog. I know it sounds crazy. I honestly thought Frida was beyond help - I would not believe it if I didn't see it with my own eyes. Sean never put his hands on Frida, and he only briefly walked her on leash. In OUR CASE, the problem was US as her owners. She was responding negatively to US and how we were trying to help her. Sean taught us how to interact with her, in a way that SHE needed so that she could understand us and change her behavior. With the help of Sean, we learned that Frida responds best with non-verbal body language, a light snap of fingers, an approach with hands open -- its incredible. Sean helped us change OUR behavior and Frida's behavior changed immediately as a result. Immediately! He gave us homework to help her learn potty training and we are changing her feeding schedule to set her up for success. He showed us how to prepare for behavior trainings and the importance of a proper walk, and how to properly walk her. You have to be willing to do the work, and you have to be ok with the fact that the problem with your dog is not all on your dog - its a relationship - and we as owners have to make changes to do our part in that relationship. Obviously some of her issues like the potty training isn't going to be fixed overnight but the majority of her issues are now manageable and trainable. We are able to diffuse problem situations much more quickly and effectively. How do you put a price on this??? She's a new dog. She is more calm and we are less stressed. We feel equipped to help her in a way that actually helps her. Sean is a professional dog behaviorist. What he does for you is FAR BEYOND the typical sit/stay/down/heel dog tricks. And the best part, as if ALL THAT wasn't enough, after the home visit, you may text or call Sean with follow-up questions for your dog. The home visit is packed with information and learning. Having Sean in our corner helping us through the new ways of doing things is absolutely priceless. We will also be attending his socialization classes at his facility and are so excited to see our baby girl blossom even further. She was a pandemic puppy so she didn't get the socialization she needed. If you've got serious behavior issues with your dog, CALL SEAN.

Maple at the winery! Being calm and friendly.

Sean is the best! Sean personalizes what you & your specific dog breed needs. He teaches you how to become the dog leader you need to be--whether you know it or not. He is great at helping you create an environment necessary for you and your pet to thrive. Sean is true to his word about always being there to support with any questions after the training. He gives us his time, patience and support. He also never makes you feel like you're a bother based on your many forms of communication with him. He begins with a survey asking what our "dream goals" with our dog would be and we fulfilled one of our dream goals recently! The goal was being able to take our pup to a winery without constant worry over her behavior. This goal was achieved within a few months of meeting Sean! Thank you!

A can't begin to express the gratitude I have for Sean and his expertise. After the in-home session I saw remarkable behavioral changes for the best with my three Havanese pups. Excessive barking stopped by the next day. Sean taught my husband and I the importance of understanding Pack behavior and where we fit in. We had to learn to be leaders in the house. It takes the pressure off the dogs and in turn they become more obedient and calm. We visited Sean at his home to discuss and practice loose leash waking and the importance of that. Just took a few minutes to adjust me and the pups followed suit. THANK YOU . If I could give 10 Yelp stars I would. I Highly recommend Sean!!!!

We always request the outside kennel because it's roomy, protected from the weather, and basically their dream suite. They stretch out, roll around, and act like they're on an all‑inclusive resort package. The second I turn onto the road leading to the hotel, all heck breaks loose in the back seat. They're scrambling, whining, trying to launch themselves out of the car like I'm driving them to Disneyland. And when we walk inside? Oh, they don't just enter. They strut. They walk in like they own the deed to the building, nod at the staff like "yes, yes, our usual room please," and then march straight to their kennel as if they're checking into their penthouse. Honestly, I'm just the chauffeur at this point

The exterior looks quaint, but inside, you may as well be taking your dogs to a shelter. The environment was incredibly stressful- dogs were continuously barking from their small kennels down the hallway. The family that was picking up their trio of small dogs actually had to chase and corner one of them because he was so scared and stressed from the sounds. When they retrieved our dog, it took her a solid minute to come down the hallway, despite being able to see me, because she was so confused and scared by the barking. When she arrived, I immediately noticed she had a been bathed, a service we did not ask for. The female owner mentioned "her fur is so soft, did we give her a bath?" and the male owner shot her a look like you wouldn't believe. It was fishy. Our dog had been hacking up a lung this entire time, something that had previously never happened under any circumstance. My concerns (which I would caution any good pet owner about): -Your pet is not getting 1x1 care here. They go in a big yard two times a day and the 1x1 time promised on the website is a greeting through their kennel door while 50 or more dogs are just barking their heads off. -Every dog I saw in this facility looked miserable and scared. Imagine all of those dogs you see in shelter videos- that's what this feels like. -Our dog has not stopped coughing, which means they have a Kennel Cough issue OR they used a choke collar we didn't provide to restrain our dog in a bath we didn't request. If it's the later, we were never informed as to why our dog had gotten so dirty and that she had to be restrained, potentially causing damage to her trachea. -There are no safety protocols for escape out the front door. When you come to pick up your dog, they just "release it" out of the kennel, so if anyone comes in after you, a scared dog could bolt Out the door. They even told me "not to open the door again" after entering because they had already released the dogs. I've seen other reviews of dogs escaping their care and that is unacceptable. Overall, for a large dog, it's $40/day to board them. You get what you pay for- this is a budget kennel service, your dogs are not getting any love or special treatment here- if you care about your dogs, I urge you not to make the same mistake we did.
