Birthday cake
Kainani K.

I was lucky because the bakery already had the design I wanted for my daughter's cake. The process to place my order was easy and they got back to me right away for payment. The cake flavor was strawberries and cream, and it was absolutely delicious! Not only was my daughter happy about the design, she enjoyed the flavor of her cake. I'll definitely go back when I need a delicious and beautiful cake.

Gender reveal cake! It's a boy!!
Samantha B.

My husband and I ordered our gender reveal cake from A Cake Life back in April after previously ordering both our wedding cake and first anniversary cake from them. We had a friend send over the gender information, and the entire process was so smooth. We couldn't be happier with how the cake turned out and are already looking forward to ordering many more cakes from them in the future!

Pre-designed Fresh floral cake. Yellow buttercream with whipped vanilla cream filling.

Thank you for letting me pick up the birthday cake straight after working a night shift. Thankful you are located so close to Kapiʻolani Medical Center for Women and Children. I ordered the pre-designed fresh floral cake. The cake was well packaged and made it all the way to the North Shore in one piece. The birthday girl was ecstatic when she saw the cake. I had to go to work before celebrations started. I was told the yellow butter cake with layers of light whipped vanilla cream filling was delicious. It was the perfect size for a small gathering.

I had A Cake Life do a dessert bar for my wedding. I worried we would have leftovers but almost every single dessert was gone by the end of the night. Everything was delicious (but the strawberry and cream/coconut cake was my absolute favorite)!

Got a custom cake here for a friends birthday. It was easy pickup, a tasty cake, and aesthetic! Taste itself was pretty solid, with nice a cream to it.

I ordered a test box with 6 different flavors and I loveeeeeed the yellow butter with strawberry and also 2nd yellow butter with vanilla. So I did not hesitate to order a full cake of yellow butter with strawberry. Well, they covered that cake in the thickest heavy stuff I wouldn't even call frosting. It was so gross that everyone was wondering why I even got that cake... and it cost almost $100!! Such a waste of money and time. The cake sure was pretty though.

Our cake was one of the easiest and yummiest choices we made for our wedding. I also loved that they offer cake pops! Who doesn't love a bite size cake that is easy to eat and doesn't make a mess! I loved the choices of flavors. Kristin was super easy to work with and everything we had was delicious!

I'm extremely happy I found Cake Life. Kristen responded to my email fast. Not only was she super nice ,but helpful and very professional. I wanted a baby shower cake for my daughter, but really had no idea what design I wanted . Then she asked if there was a theme for the shower? I showed her the invitation and told her the color scheme. From that Kristen 's creative vision came to Cake Life! It was "A Little Lumpia on the Way" neutral colors ! The cake was so cute and adorable! Also delicious!! Thank you Kristen for your creativeness, professionalism, and overall kindness! it was a very Happy Shower!!!

My fiance ordered a cake for my birthday and it came out perfect!!! It was the vintage heart with strawberry cream cake. It was the most beautiful cake and we loved it so much!

There's no way to say this enough, OUTSTANDING! Kristin's cakes were made with such divine freshness and love. It just melts in your mouth but made our hearts happy with their beauty! She hand-delivered these to my parents at our hotel for their 50th Anniversary celebration with our family of 17. We traveled from Alaska to Hawaii and ordering these cakes was so easy and just made their Golden Anniversary perfect. Mahalo and hugs Kristin!

 Classic White Cake

Summary. Delicious cake! Real ingredients. I will order from them again. Background. Tough to find a quality custom cake around Christmas time. So many better bakeries won't do it, as if no one is born or gets married in December. A Cake Life came through. Plain vanilla was preferred and the Classic White Cake fit the bill. There are a number of other flavors available. Ordering the smaller size (5-10), thought it would be a moderate sized layer cake. It was huge, so heavy, I weighed it, five and a half pounds! Many more servings than ten. Quality. The real buttercream icing was slathered on like buttering brick mortar, thick. Believe the cake had at least three pounds of butter. The cake layers tasted buttery, like homemade from scratch. Cost. Yes, it was pricey, but worth it. Looking through their photo gallery, there are other options, including sheet cakes, that may not be as massive and costly. One quibble, tried to convey that I wanted a holiday motif, red and green decoration. A simple Christmas tree piped across the top would have been fine. But couldn't get that across over the phone. Instead, they offered red, white and green floral decorations. Thought that meant flowers made of icing but turned out, they were real flowers and foliage. Not Christmassy at all, BUT classy. Location. Thought I knew where the bakery was. Stopped by there years ago, unsuccessfully seeking a ready made cake. They only make cakes to order. But this time, it didn't appear to be clearly marked. It's in the interior Makai-Ewa corner of the strip mall. Look for signs that say knock for deliveries. Think that's the kitchen door.

Rose shortie cake, cake bento, sugar cookie
Mari T.

At first glance, you might be in a bit of sticker shock when you see the prices on the menu. However, the attention to detail and communication from this business is totally worth it. I have dealt with many businesses who are unresponsive or curt with their responses to inquiries, but this one was very quick to text back, very professional, and the appearance of the cake was just beautiful! I got my husband a birthday cake and he was so touched. He helped me pick it out and he loves flowers. His favorite flavor of anything is strawberry, so the strawberry filling was perfect. The roses and gold flecks were so perfectly crafted and the letters were gum paste which he enjoyed eating as well. I also got a sugar cookie which was very pretty and tasted ok. The cake bento was fun and I got to try a bunch of flavors. Top 2 were the devil's food with peanut butter and the red velvet with cream cheese. Pickup was super fast and easy, just text them and they came right out! Great service, great experience.

I've walked out of the way from hotels just to get coffee and pastries here. I'm not even a pastry person, but this place made me care. The coffee, the croissants, the sandwiches. It used to feel expensive but justified because the quality was there. This last visit felt like the magic was gone. We came back during a long family trip with our two young kids, and the service was cold from the start. One employee seemed more interested in her phone and side conversations than the customers in front of her. The coffee was handed over messily, with liquid spilled on top like nobody cared enough to wipe it down. My wife also asked for a cup of ice when there were barely any people in line and instead of simply helping, the response was curt and dismissive, as if asking for something small was an inconvenience. The frustrating part is that this place built its reputation on details. Great coffee. Excellent pastries. Long lines that felt worth it because you were getting something special. Now it feels overpriced, indifferent and tired. Maybe the pastries are still good. Maybe the coffee is still technically good. But when the hospitality disappears, the whole experience changes. What used to feel like a destination now feels like another expensive Waikiki coffee counter coasting on reputation. I hate writing this because this place used to be a must visit for us. But after this trip, I'm done making the trek.

Since it was their anniversary on Sunday, also got their celebratory funfetti cupcake which also like their baked goods did not disappoint. The croissant base of many of their pastries is flaky. When fresh it crunches with every bite that you take. This time around we had the cinnamon roll, mango danish which had a chocolate mochi filling, and their char siu bun. It's such a neat take to have char siu in a croissant. We are used to having it in the doughy bao bread but in a croissant, savory with a crunchy outside tastes so much better. I love sweet but this one wasn't overly sweet, who would have thought that mango and chocolate pair so well together. It's the summer months, fresh mango on pastries. It was the perfect ripeness. For the cinnamon roll, you honestly cannot forget get their cinnamon roll...It's flaky and again the frosting is not overly sweet. Can't wait to get another box of their pastries again soon.

I have been to several Malasada places in Hawaii but | love…read morethere's the best for the following reasons: 1. the size of the malasadas: some restaurants tend to make their Malasadas smaller and when places do this it ruins the overall texture and quality of it. The bigger the malasadas size the more airy and fluffy and more bread layers that will be inside. 2. their malasadas always taste fresh and the same quality each time. 3. their malasadas don't feel oily or heavy at all Overall I would highly recommend this place for their Malasadas! I'm so happy to have found them. I can back multiple times on my trip. They also have other desserts too that I have yet to try. They have ice cream, cakes, and other desserts Also tip: if you are ordering a malasada also order a coffee or a matcha drink to go with it. The cinnamon sugar from the malasada just matches so perfectly with a drink this restaurant is also a nice place for walking! There's lot of stores and restaurants to walk around! However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. FOOD - 4 stars... the malasadas were good, but that ube dessert was next level AMBIANCE - 4 stars...really a takeout operation with a lot of temptations SERVICE - 4 stars...very calm and orderly TOTAL - 4 stars...yet another spot for sweet Hawaiian decadence RELATED - Exploring Hawaii? It was tasty, with a unique spice blend reminiscent of other beef soups I've had in the past. However, I was particularly wowed however by the complementary bread and raspberry jam. Call me simple, but the bread was actually the star of the show for me, perfectly soft and buttery. The location in Waikiki is perhaps a clear reminder that it is a tourism city.
