I had such high hopes for this bakery, first visit the staff was really nice it was very busy and she made some time to help us. After discussing we picked a size and style, we took cupcakes home to sample flavors. Cupcakes were all really good, we decided on our two flavors and with the suggestion from the staff i researched cake designs on Pinterest and found something spectacular. I sent them an email with the chosen cake flavors and a pic of the design I had found. I stopped in the week the cake was ordered for to finalize everything and pay ahead of time. I was a little surprised that they had not even looked at the email so I showed her the picture off of my phone, she said they couldn't do it exactly that way but after discussion she said they would put in great detail on the design and it would be really nice. When we picked up the cake it was so plain and simple I could have done a better job, the cake flavors were on the wrong sides and the cake itself was dry and stale. For almost $90 I was extremely disappointed. We won't be back to this bakery which is too bad, I think they could have produced something really nice but just didn't care enough to try on this one. read more

Cake looked terrible! icing didn't match throughout, was not what we designed, logo's were left off, writing was left off, had to have everything added while waiting there when I picked it up. Said the printer was having issues when I asked to have the logo added and instead of saying that it wouldn't be the same color because the ink was running out, they stuck a non matching logo on it. Had an edible ladder on it that was broken and lopsided. Paid a fortune for a two layer cake, almost $200 and was too embarrassed to bring it out at the party. Ended up throwing it away! read more

I have used A Cake Occasion for the last 13 years for birthday cakes but NEVER again. I am very upset and in shock. My husband ordered a rather simple cake from them for my birthday. Chocolate with raspberry filling and icing on top, no flowers just H- Bday and my name. He should have ordered in a more timely manner (2 1/2 days), but they did say they could make the cake for him. When he got there to pick it up, it wasn't ready and they smeared the top trying to finish. Not a huge ordeal I guess. So the good points: 1) it was moist, 2) the icing had good flavor and was smooth. The bad points: 1) that filling was NOT real!! it was gel. I know cake and I know fillings. 2) If you can't make a simple cake in a short manner just say sorry I can't. 3) The price for that cake was ridiculous!!! I can make better and will at home. My husband just didn't want me to make my own cake this year. We won't be back. I would give 3 stars if my husband was more timely in ordering. read more

I ordered a cake for my mom's 65th birthday and it came out looking like a child's birthday cake. It was a travel themed cake, and I had asked for fondant cutouts on the sides. It came back airbrushed, with modeled fondant animals on top. It did not have the fondant flowers I had specified either, rather some hot pink, blue, and yellow ones instead. I am embarrassed to present this cake at my mom's party and since the bakery is not open on Sundays, I am having to find another bakery last minute to fix it. I am extremely disappointed. read more

Terrible! Ordered 20 cupcakes for pick up the next day. Cupcakes weren't ready when arrived. Waited 20+ minutes to finish frosting and decorating. Finished product ended up being wrong- wrong color frosting and very sloppy. The edible images I requested looked like they had been cutout by my pre-schooler and thrown on. I understand they were trying to hurry since they were behind schedule, but seriously, the finished product was embarrassing. I could have done better in my own kitchen and saved money to boot. Was hoping that they would at least taste good, but I was wrong. They were awful -- terribly dried out and no taste. I am all for supporting small family owned businesses, but sadly we will not be a customer again. read more

The cake arrived on time and was exactly what we wanted the design to look like. The cake itself was delicious and we received many compliments on it at the wedding. I ordered a cake here this weekend for my daughter's adoption party. I was so excited about the design that I asked for, it was my favorite part of the party. I was initially really disappointed when I got there and the person that took the order had it written down wrong and the cake was not what I ordered. Ruby made it right! She asked for my address (as the party was starting in an hour) and completely re-decorated the bottom layer of the cake. It was delivered to the party as soon as they were finished and the cake looked incredible and tasted even better. For me a great business is not made when everything goes right, it is about what happens when mistakes are made. They went to great lengths to make it right. What I didn't tell them was that I am getting married in 8 months and was wondering if I should order my wedding cake there too. When I got there and it was wrong, I was so upset and thought for sure I would never be back. But they way they handled it made me happy and they are back on my top choice list for the wedding cake too. read more

I have always had great service and the best tasting cake you ever had. I could not have been more pleased with our wedding cake. It was not only a beautiful cake but it tasted even more amazing than it had at our tasting! We had very little left over and what was left over was eaten quickly by friends and family that couldn't make the wedding! To top it off it was amazingly affordable! We had a three teir almond poppyseed with strawberry filing cake and it was less than $500. I would have paid twice that for the quality of cake we ended up with! It was phenominal! Wow the worst customer service I have ever came across from a professional bakery owner. I will never buy any more cakes from A cake Occasion. They quote you one price and then when you go to pick it up they charge you more. They out of the blue decided to charge me a additional $10.00 for decorating. You should be told that is extra. Isn't putting icing on a cake, and decorating it why your in business? The owner treated me like I'm making prices up and basically called me a liar. Then the owner proceeds to ask me if $10.00 really makes a difference. Yes it does when your treated poorly. If your going to quote someone then you need to honor what you said and not treat your cusomers that way. Then to have the nerve to call me back and say I was not ever welcome in the store again and tell me a few more rude things that I can't say on the internet is a poor excuse of a business owner.
