The repair itself is flawless, panel gaps, paint match, everything lines up like it came off the line that way. On a G-Wagon that's not a given; plenty of shops will happily take a swing at one and hand you back something that's almost right. This isn't that. But the part that really made the difference was the insurance side. Dealing with the at-fault carrier is normally a part-time job you didn't apply for, endless calls, lowball estimates, supplements that go nowhere. Alex handled all of it. He knew exactly what to push back on and how to document it, and I basically just got updates instead of headaches. Zero fighting on my end. He also does diminished value reports, which I didn't even know was a thing I should be asking about. A car like this loses real money on paper just from having an accident on the record, and he walked me through recovering that. I hit up numerous auto body shops and got various quotes. Todd gave one of the most reasonable estimates right off the bat. This was all via yelp photos and videos. When I was deciding between a couple of places that also had great reviews and similar initial estimates, I decided to bring the car in to some shops so they could give me firm numbers on what the cost would be. It is hard to evaluate the extent of the damage just from the photos. As expected, the initial photos I sent didn't do the damage justice and the quotes I had received on yelp were all increased. One place DOUBLED their initial quote. However, Todd's quote only increased to a few hundred more plus he was the ONLY one to fully explain why the change and exactly what work was required to repair each bit of damage. I take pride in my ability to read a person and Todd gave me good vibes right off the bat, that were solidified as we talked more during the drop off/inspection. As a woman going into an auto body shop it's easy to be dismissed as someone who knows nothing about cars and would have zero idea if they were being ripped off or taken advantage of. I did not worry about this at all with Todd! He was not playing any games, and he made it super clear he is just someone who genuinely loves cars and treats his work on them like an artist would a painting. The scheduling coordinator (Catherine) reached out to me soon as I designated them as my desired shop from the insurance company's database. The initial assessment (Robert/Vartan) were professional accompanied by explanation of the process and estimated repair time. All throughout the repair process, I received multiple updates both from the scheduling coordinator and the automated system. In the end, the car was done ahead of schedule. The paint matching was spot on from what I can tell. Everyone in the office was professional, friendly, and most of all, they took care of all the paper work and back-and-forth with at-fault party's insurance company so I didn't have to do anything other than picking up the car. After I flagged this with my insurance adjuster, the shop issued a revised estimate, but the replacement parts were still wrong: a black bumper instead of my vehicle's original bronze one, and a red tow hook that does not match my Jeep at all. When I came to pick up my vehicle before authorizing any repairs, I was told I owed $138 for the estimate, though I don't recall being given a written estimate or signing an authorization for that specific charge when I dropped the vehicle off. My insurance adjuster ended up covering the fee so I could get my Jeep back. I was glad to get my vehicle back without repairs I didn't approve, but between the repeated part errors and the surprise charge, this was a frustrating experience.
