Tried this new skewer spot and had a pretty good experience. We got beef, lamb and pork belly skewers, grilled cabbage, grilled chives, stir fried beef noodles, and crispy eggplant. The best item was definitely the eggplants which had a crispy and light later, and creamy on the inside. The skewers had good grill flavour but not enough of the BBQ powder. Also not very spicy, even at medium spice level. The noodles was so-so as the noodles were all tangled into a big knot. Space is bright and clean. Service is pretty good.

Glad they opened a skewer place in this location! The restaurant is bright and clean and quite packed! We got an assortment of skewers and my favourite was the chicken cartilage. Seasoned well and so crunchy! The lamb and beef were good but nothing spectacular. I loved the cabbage as well! Portion was big. We also got a braised beef noodle and it was pretty good. Lots of meat and noodles. Will be back to try more on their menu!

    Braised beef noodle soup

This restaurant is inside the FreshCo plaza off of Bur Oak and McCowan in the corner where Ten Rens once existed. The space was newly renovated and opened at the end of July. The furniture is new and everything feels clean. We tried the braised beef noodle soup and lamb skewers which was a good portion for two people. We customized the noodle soup with mid-flat noodles (there were many options) and mild spicy. There were plenty of noodles in the bowl and it was a great portion for $16. We ordered mild spicy for the lamb skewers and if you're used to the Chinese spice blend that they usually use on these skewers, I'd probably recommend getting the medium spice. It's a great place to get skewers outside of Asian festivals. The servers were very attentive and paid attention to all our needs. We asked for hot water and they served us hot tea which tasted quite good. They can take your order or you can scan a QR code to place your order. A good place for a quick lunch in the neighbourhood.

This is a convenient neighborhood spot for noodles and skewers. My favorite is the sweet and sour pork and eggplant. The noodles were good too! If you like it spicy. This is the place for you! They also serve soups in clay pots which are nice and hearty. Huge portions too!! You won't leave here hungry that's for sure!!

Stir fried pork with green peppers

Came for dinner as we were in the neighborhood. We ordered the stir fried pork belly with green peppers, the special eggplant, Grilled bone marrow, steamed chicken with chili sauce, and the grilled beef skewers. All in medium spicy. The pork belly and green peppers were not bad. The special eggplant was really good and crispy. The grilled beef skewers were pretty good and tasty and had decent sized chunks of meat. The steamed chicken in chili sauce was a good size and was tasty. The bone marrow was ok but had too much cumin sprinkled on top and was very fatty. Service was efficient. The restaurant was very bright and seating was comfortable.

The food here is absolutely delicious, and the prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. Every dish we ordered was flavourful, well-prepared, and made with fresh ingredients, you can really taste the difference. The restaurant is bright, clean, and beautifully decorated with a warm Chinese theme, which makes the whole dining experience very comfortable. It's a lovely spot to enjoy a casual meal with family or friends. The service was wonderful as well. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready with helpful recommendations. The highlight of our meal was definitely the spicy fish pot, a must-try dish! The broth was rich and aromatic, the spice level was perfectly balanced, and the portion was generous. We also loved that most dishes allow you to choose your preferred spice level, which is such a thoughtful touch. This has become one of our favourite dishes here, and we'll definitely be coming back for it again.

Paint peeling off the furniture, cracks in the fixtures, etc. service was standard for a casual Chinese place. Nothing to write home about our but still fine. Food was fine. Nothing spectacular. We ordered: Radish cake - served in cubes and fried with chili. Pretty good. 4/5. Fried tofu with crispy peas. Not sure what it was called exactly but the tofu cubes were coated in something making them super smooth but crunchy. Served with fried peas. Those were too hard but the tofu was great. Overall 4/5 dish. HK style chow mein. A classic. Sadly they noodles came out mostly soggy and mushy already with only a few edges still crispy. The greens in the dish were overcooked. The proteins were mostly fine but some of the bbq pork in it tasted stale bordering on foul. Like they tried to salvage leftover bbq pork that should have gone in the trash. 1/5 due to the pork. Otherwise it's a 3/5 dish. Overall 3/5 is fair, giving them some benefit of the doubt for the noodles. Abundant free parking out front. No wait at lunch time on a weekday.

Steamed, boiled, or pan‑fried, everything is made fresh to order with a great variety of fillings. The steamed dumplings are the standout--juicy, flavorful, and exactly what you want from a dumpling‑focused spot. They do offer other dishes, but most of them feel just okay. Honestly, I'd rather save the stomach space for more dumplings. The Xiao Long Bao was only so‑so for me; the wrapper was on the thicker, chewier side, which took away from the experience. There are also some great-value specials--like the $2.99 braised pork neck bone, which was surprisingly tasty. Note: they accept cash or debit only. The interior is spacious, and service is fast and friendly, making it an easy and satisfying stop when the dumpling craving hits.

The food here always been phenomenal and now they have a dining room that is way more comfortable for family style meals. We've tried about half of their menu and there has not been a single item (which is saying a lot) that we did not enjoy. We were there to celebrate a 85th birthday and birthday-man (?) enjoyed all of his favorites! We especially loved the braised pork hock in brown sauce and stir-friend lamb with ginger and scallion. The dumplings (XLB and other steamed kind), sour cabbage soup, fried rice, sweet and sour pork, crispy eggplant dish, stir-fried bok choy, smashed cucumber salad...etc were all very good. Everyone was stuffed and we had plenty of leftovers to bring home. The bill for this very satisfying meal came to $245 for 9 people, which is fantastic value! To compare, when our family of 3 (2 adults and 1 pre-teen who barely eats) eat out at Ding Tai Fung (Scarborough location), our bill easily comes to $120. We'll return to the King for many more delicious Northern Chinese fare at a very reasonable cost!

Service: Friendly but not very attentive. We had some of our 'test' dishes, the ones we use to compare. Mapo Tofu. 2/5. The tofu was fresh. The pork was very sparse and it was over thickened. It was almost jelly. Let's just say, it was like when you have a cold. Beef rice noodle with black bean sauce. 4/5. This dish had a good 'wok hei' flavour. This dish was also over thickened. The prices are reasonable especially for these days. If they can ease up on the corn starch/thickener, it could be much better. I will give this place another try.

The items are similar to that of Congee Queen. Everyone in our party ended up getting some sort of soupy noodle dish and we were all very happy with what we got. I got the "build your own" fish noodle for $16.50. You can choose your soup base, your preferred type of noodle, 2 toppings, and a drink. You can also add on an 2 extra side dishes for a minimal charge. We chose the fish cutlet which was pretty salty. The portion for my Fish Noodle Soup was huge and the beef was really good. We also got the beef brisket noodles which can be a hit and miss - but it was a hit in this case! The beef was tender - the perfect taste & texture. We peeked at what others ordered and the family-style dishes looked pretty good as well, so we'll try those next time.
