I was craving dumplings one day and am glad I tried this place out. The steamed veggie dumplings were not just pretty (half green and half white) but the filling was yummy and not bland. We also had the pan fried cuttlefish dumplings which were also good and had a nice texture to them. Will definitely be back to try some other dumpling varieties!

The restaurant is spacious with lots of seating. The dumpling menu was extensive and there was a variety of other dishes. The dumpling skin was good but it came out barely warm. The siu long bao skin was too thick. The braised pork bone was good, there was a specialty for $2.99 before 5pm.

Great dumpling option in Markham. Lots of variety and noodle options too! We tried their abalone dumpling and each piece had a mini abalone in it. Our favourite is the pork and corn one steamed. The potstickers are fun too! Lots of seating and there is an open kitchen in the back to watch them make the dumplings.

Lots of spacious seating and a big parking lot. I highly recommend the L5 Sautéed Eggplant w/ Minced Pork on Sizzling Plate ($19.99). So SO good! The eggplant was crispy and soft on the inside and it paired really well with the sauce, pork, garlic, and onions. On the other hand, the smoked chicken ($11.99) and crispy pan fried cabbage & pork dumplings ($12.99) were mediocre. I would not order these again. Service was fast and the staff were nice! I would honestly come back just for the eggplant dish. 5% off if you pay cash

Really large venue with many tables and seats. There were minimal front of house staff, so expect to be agressive to get service. Pan fried buns - Expecting juicy pork on the inside, thin bun walls and cripsy at the bottom. This was the exact opposite. No soup in the inside, bun was thick and the bottom was soggy. Would not recommend. Sticky rice rolls - Expecting sticky chewy exterior from the sticky rice, crispy inside from the dough fritter and flavour from the pork shreds + pickled vegetables. This was 1/3: sticky rice was undercooked, dough fritter was soggy, but sufficient shredded pork + vegetables to make it somewhat tasty. Would not recommend. Pork and chive dumplings - This was pretty good, good amount of filling and thin skin. Sauces that you can mix together is black vinegar, soysauce and chili oil. Would get dumplings again. Braised pork rib special - Good deal for 4 bones of pork ribs. There was good flavour coming out of the meat. Would get again. Pretty good value for what you order, food quality was subpar but could be on me for not getting more dumplings.

We decided last minute to come here and no wait time on a Friday nite. Plaza and parking is a bit chaotic tho we had to park at the back and bit of a walk. Not fun in winter. But yea lots of cars cuz lots of restaurants are on the plaza. Service was quick tho. Everything we ordered was good and filling. Would definitely come back

3.5/5 This is our always go to place for dumplings. This time we tried the smoked chicken, it's not bad with smoky aroma. The pan fried dumpling was also not bad. In this place, most dishes are quite mediocre with no surprise, decent food with decent price.

Overall, a pleasant experience, quick service, and good food. Docking 0.5 star for some items being solely in Chinese, not very user friendly for non-Chinese literate patrons. It was midday around 2pm, with fewer patrons going in, but service was still prompt. Order by yourself on the slips of paper with the menu numbers. A few items, such as the Rainbow Soup dumplings, have a variety of fillings, but it was all in Chinese, so I'm not actually sure which fillings we tried. The classic soup dumpling was still my favourite, though all were tasty. Around 3pm, the staff sat down for their break, so we waited until we saw one finish and went up to the counter for our bill and a small takeout box for our leftovers.

Finally came around to trying this place on a saturday evening. The parking lot was absolutely stuffed and I had to circle at least 10 times before lucking out w/ a spot. The resto itself is big and fits a lot of customers. We were sat right next to the entrance (which was chilly at first because of the entrance opening and closing constantly, but once we started eating and sweating, the wind actually helped out a bit). The service is pretty no frills. You write your order on a paper and a server will just take it. The dumplings were good! I think I actually liked the pan fried/crispy dumplings over the boiled ones more (if I had to pick). They were juicier. This place also does an excellent beef pancake. I've been to so many places where the pancake is stale and the beef tough, but this place nailed it (perfect amount of hoisin sauce inside too). If I'm craving dumplings, I'll be back here for sure! P.S. The beef noodle soup from the menu picture is calling out to me. I might try that next time.

What happened to this beloved dumpling place? We were here to try the following dumplings that are highly reputed. # A1 LEEK, SHRIMP & PORK DUMPLINGS # A29 CUTTLEFISH INK DUMPLINGS (CUTTLEFISH,LEEK,PORK) # B4 STEAMED MINI PORK DUMPLINGS (XLB) # A25 CRISPY PAN FRIED CABBAGE & PORK DUMPLINGS # D3 VEGETABLE AND SLICED PORK NOODLE SOUP Overall impression. Lacking the power of wheat in the wrappers - no chewiness. No texture - flabby. Their unique wrapper flavors were not present this time. What happened? Are they trying "gluten free?" The same thing for the noodles (D3) - soggy. The soup was lacking flavor, depth and focus. Veggies and pork were roughly chopped, no delicacy. Also, all the stuffing did not taste fresh. #A1's shrimp was dehydrated like freeze burnt shrimps. #A29's stuffing were pasty with overly fishy smell. We ate only two, left the rest. To be honest, I wanted to remove the dish from the table as soon as we ate a piece. I am a squid lover, but this dumplings' unpleasant smell was not acceptable. Just disappointed. All the more because I loved this place since it was at Midland location. A lot of changes which are not positive.

My favourite dumpling house in the GTA! This spot never disappoints and I find myself always craving their dumplings. The Scarborough location closed and this one opened up in Markham! Bigger, cleaner, newer space - love that! The staff here are always friendly and so busy! The food! Hot and sour soup: 10/10 The perfect hotness and sourness that is just right for your taste buds. It comes in a larger bowl than expected and had to take the rest to go. It's a great starter before you grub into your dumplings! Steamed dumplings: 10/10 Great for sharing as it comes in 15 pieces, steamed to perfection and so juicy/ meaty on the inside. Pan Fried dumplings: 8/10 A little bit on the oilier spectrum, which is understandable for the dumpling skins not to stick to the pan. They burnt the dumplings a little this time I visited, but nothing too bad to be consumed. Beef noodle soup: 10/10 Their broth is super flavourful and the noodles have the perfect bite to it. The beef could be bigger chunks but overall the the dish is fantastic. Soup dumplings: 10/10 My go to use to be the crab soup dumplings which they took off their menu (SAD!). But their soup dumplings are a close second and come piping hot with lots of soup inside each pocket of goodness! Definitely give this spot a try! And if there is one thing you must get, get the soup dumplings! Make sure you don't burn your mouth trying to gobble the entire dumpling at once though! You've been warned ;)

The restaurant name is The Dumpling King. It is a strong hint that dumplings are their proudest dish. I ordered them. I agreed with the management. Dumplings were delicious, fresh, and plump. They were a bit smaller than some restaurants', yet they were still of a decent 2-bite size. Pot stickers were okay. The cold dishes we ordered hit the spots. We didn't order any meat dish, so no verdict on them. Just a tip: the squid dumplings and 5 colors dumplings taste exactly the same as the regular, white dumplings. They are visually interesting, but after the novelty has worn off, you won't want to spend the extra cash for the same tasting dumplings.

    Lamb with cumin spice

Good food at a modest price. We ordered the cumin lamb, leek, shrimp and pork dumplings, fried rice with stewed pork, and the pork belly with garlic sauce. - The lamb with cumin was excellent. Tasty with a nice char flavour. The charred onions were a nice accompaniment. - The fried rice was good. The name doesn't do it justice. It's a solid fried rice and pairs really well with the lamb. I could eat that combo any day of the week. - The pork belly with garlic sauce tasted pretty similar to Korean boiled pork with kimchi. Almost the same but just a bit more vinegary and heavier on the garlic. If you love garlic and vinegar, you'll love this dish! - The dumplings were on the better side of average. Solid clean flavour with a better than average wrapper. Not overly salty. You can tell they're made in house because there were whole perfectly cooked shrimp inside. Nothing to go out of your way for, but a strong craving crusher if you're looking for traditional dumplings. Overall vibe is good. A bit more modern and stylish atmosphere, but still casual enough to not seem too upscale. Will definitely come back for that lamb!

I came here on a weekday, there was no line, hardly anyone on the second floor. I looked at their menu (lots of options) and finally got the attention of the worker inside and pointed to the picture of what I wanted. There was a bit of back and forth with the worker, she kept waving me to look at the menu to tell her what I wanted, but I was clearly pointing to the photo of what I wanted. Service was a bit rude, she wasn't very friendly, nor did she try to understand what I wanted. I didn't think language barrier would be an issue if I was clearly pointing to the photo of what I wanted in my sticky rice. I will say that the sticky rice was very delicious and well balanced. It was VERY greasing on the exterior of their packaging which was saran wrap. The food made it a better rating, but I can't shake off the rude customer service. Questionable if I will be back though.

Apparently this is a very famous restaurant in Taiwan so it's great that we can try it here in Toronto! My Taiwanese friend did the ordering as she was familiar with the popular dishes to try. She ordered two lunch specials. One lunch set was a little pricier for about $25 but if you pay cash there is 10% off on this item. This lunch set was really worth it as this combo included 6 side dishes, a main dish with a soup or milk tea...and for the main dish, you could choose Danmi noodles or Minced pork rice and we picked the noodles since we got the Pork Hock & Minced pork rice for our 2nd lunch set. The two of us shared all the items except my friend insisted that I have the marinated abalone side dish and this was so good! I will definitely be coming back because of this dish! I also liked the Danmi noodles and Pork Hock. Although the food was amazing but the service was lacking. It wasn't busy when we got there just before noon on a Wednesday and we had to wave the staff for help several times and the staff didn't even take our order correctly as we had asked for two tea and they only brought one. I will still be back as the food was really good and I love Taiwanese food!
