    Chinese restaurant serving comfort food, originating in the northern parts of China - Sauerkraut fish is spicy, numbing, sour, delicious, and oh so good when done correctly. Restaurant is located on the North-East corner of McCowan and Hwy 7 across from Markville mall. Plenty of parking spots in this plaza. The decor in this restaurant is absolutely stunning with wooden finishes, very zen vibe and minimalist. I had dinner here last night around 7:30PM; restaurant was very busy but we were promptly served by wait staff. The menu is not massive which is good (quality over quantity, unless you're an HK café) Menu is QR code based on the edges of the tables For 3 people, we ordered quite a few dishes to sample Suancai & Fish - Small (Snakehead Fish) 小份酸菜鱼(黑鱼) - Spicy, Numbing, has vermicelli noodles - decent portion for a single person... flavor wise it is a 5-6/10; it was lacking a bit of seasoning/salt, the flavor was there but there was something missing. My wife and mother in law found it not spicy, so if you have high spice tolerance Sichuan Peppercorn Fish Fillet 鲜麻青花椒鱼 - this was for me since my spice tolerance isn't crazy high; good flavor, umami, same comments as the snakehead fish - missing some seasoning/lacking but overall good dish (preferred this over the other one) Stif-fried Pork Belly Slices 火爆辣椒炒肉 - good wok hay, good flavor, could have been spicier (even for me) Tasty Fried Chicken Wings 二哥爱鸡翅 - really crispy wings as a snack, loved me the mustard on the side, portion comes with 6 wings Mapo Tofu - This was ok flavor too, similar comments to the dishes ordered The Sichuan Spicy Chicken 重庆口水鸡 - decent flavor, good cold dish to offset the spicy and sour fish We did order rice and noodles on the side to enjoy with our dishes Coconut Ching Bo Leung 椰香冻冻清补凉 - tasty and creamy, refreshing Orange drink - tangy, sour, good blance to the other flavors Service was great, the wait staff were attentive and very friendly, they hired the right people for this restaurant. Overall i give this restaurant a 7/10 rating; improvements could be made I feel A little oily for my own palette as i had to bbg today twice - I also enjoyed that it wasn't heavy on the MSG as I didn't feel the MSG thirst after eating at this restaurant. It's great for me cause this spice level I can tolerate but for super spice lovers you may be disappointed (unless they have a super spicy option lol)

    Came here again for their famous soup. It was so good for the winter time. Currently they are having a promotion for the holiday, that you will get a prize after drawing a lucky stick; promotion from Dec 23 to Jan 1.

    If you like sauerkraut fish this is place to check out! they also have a lot of side dishes to try. I would recommend numbing chicken. Also the fried dough are all freshly made to order. The service of the staff are top notch. The ambiance is spacious and very clean. Some notable dishes are Spicy numbing on chicken Sauerkraut fish spicy Chicken Water jelly Spicy squid

    This was my second time coming here. My first experience was good, this time around was even better. We really enjoyed the food, my favourite was the tomato fish fillet. Kids meals are only $4.99 with three options to choose from. Overall their dishes are generous for a reasonable price. It's great that they offer non-spicy options for people like me who can't handle the spice. It was a full house on the weekend so I'd recommend making reservations. Service was a little slow given how busy they were and the restroom needed some serious maintenance.

    Reservations recommended, this place is a well known franchise in China and is quickly becoming popular here too! This spot is known for the 'mala' peppercorn numbing spice in regions in China. The fish is a must have for every table, and really packs a punch! Good for a shareable dish between 3-4 people, and there are some bones in the broth too! There are very few non-spicy items on the menu, so consider yourself warned. If you've never experienced these types of dishes before, it's a great staple to try. If you have, you either love it or you're glad you tried it. One note is that one of the vegetable dishes was sold out when my group had dinner here. Our bill showed the vegetable dish that we never received so we had to ask them to edit it out of the bill, as that dish never came. There is also very little attention from servers here as the menu is on a QR code at the table, and orders are placed through the phone. We could barely ask any questions about whether we could adjust the spice or where we could refill our tea.

    The food is good food but it was not for us (just the flavour profile in general) The service is great!

Lobster roll ($48): 9/10 I've never had avocado in a lobster roll before, and the flavours & textures actually worked really well together! The lobster tasted fresh and sweet. The fries were crispy and plentiful. This spot is on the pricier side, but the quality of the food, service, and ambiance is reflected in the price.

Every dish had its own unique flavour and taste. There was a small mix-up with our order when one of the staff accidentally brought us tofu shrimp instead of the fried rice we ordered. Amy, one of the servers/managers, handled the situation so professionally. Even though it was already last call and the kitchen was closing, she was able to have the correct dish remade for us. She sincerely apologized for the mistake and even gave us a complimentary plum drink along with some butter cranberry cookies. Amy provided exceptional customer service and was absolutely awesome throughout the experience. Despite the long wait, the food and service made it worth it. I would definitely recommend this place and will for sure be coming back!

It was a whole infusion of flavour and had a little kick to it as well! My only complaint is it is a bit on the pricey side (was about $70 per person), but that's expected with lobster and crab.

I wish the staff gave extra plate for me to place the empty oyster and clam shell rather than pushing them to the edge of my plate. The staff never gave us any water until we asked. Getting anyone's attention was difficult. We got a pound of the shrimp and a pound of clams. Nothing to rave about. Not amazing but not horrible. The sauce seemed one dimensional and flat. For this type of meal, I want a flavour explosion but Good Catch fell short. Not sure if this is the place I'd hit again if I wanted a mean seafood boil.

Plenty of seating for different sized groups, and the walls are lined with either wine, cuts of meat or tanks filled with various sea creatures. For dinner, we always have to order the lobster and steak combo. The steak has consistently been a flavourful medium rare (to our preference) and there is so much meat from these lobsters! I can't pick which way I like the lobster cooked more - steamed or wok fried.. both are delicious. For additional dishes, you can't go wrong with the short beef ribs and the pea shoots with king oyster mushrooms are a great option if you're trying to add veggies to a meat-heavy meal. The service staff are always on top of it. They are always coming around to make sure we have enough water at the table and food came out so quickly. I can't wait to come back again soon!

When we arrived, he insisted that we did not have a reservation even after we showed our confirmation, and, instead of apologizing for what appeared to be the restaurant's booking system error, he tried to lecture us about how certain reservation websites do not allow large-group bookings. Rather than taking responsibility or working professionally toward a solution, his attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely inappropriate. Fortunately, the lady working with him was kind, professional, and genuinely tried to explain the situation and find a way to accommodate us. She deserves recognition for her efforts. Our group was in town for an eight-day conference with more than 3,000 attendees. Because of this experience, this restaurant has unfortunately been added to the "not recommended" list for this annual event. When restaurants host business travelers, the way guests are treated matters just as much as the quality of the food. Unprofessional treatment of customers and business partners can damage relationships and cost businesses significant opportunities. To anyone considering this restaurant: the food is excellent, but if you're planning an important business dinner or any special occasion, be aware that the wrong interaction at the front desk could ruin your evening. Great food alone cannot make up for poor management and unprofessional customer service.

My favorites were the sweet soy-braised tofu skin, japchae, and spicy cucumber salad. The hot barley tea also paired really well with the marinated seafood. Marinated Crab The platter comes with six half pieces of soy-marinated crab and six half pieces of spicy marinated crab. The soy-marinated crab tasted very traditional, with a strong sweet soy sauce flavor. Compared with another Michelin pop-up restaurant I tried before, this version was much richer and saltier. The blue crab meat had a soft, jelly-like texture from the curing process, which was impressive. However, the soy sauce became quite dominant after a few pieces, so I highly recommend pairing it with the beef tendon soup or barley tea to balance the flavors. The spicy crab, however, wasn't my favorite. Instead of the sweet, savory heat that I usually associate with Korean gochujang, it leaned more toward the direct heat of Korean chili flakes, similar to the spice level in tteokbokki. I felt the spiciness overwhelmed the natural sweetness of the crab rather than enhancing it. Marinated Shrimp I was worried that eight shrimp wouldn't be enough, but the plate was huge. They use giant tiger prawns, each about the size of my hand, so two or three are already quite filling. Because the prawns are so large, they are only lightly cured, so the meat stays firm and springy instead of becoming soft like the Cantonese-style marinated shrimp I'm more familiar with. The sweet soy marinade penetrates the meat very well, making every bite flavorful. However, after a few shrimp, the soy sauce becomes increasingly dominant and the flavor starts to feel one-dimensional. Personally, I prefer the layered flavors of Cantonese-style marinated seafood, where the freshness of the seafood is complemented by ginger, garlic, cooking wine, and fish sauce. Beef Tendon Soup This ended up being my favorite dish of the meal. The broth was rich with beef flavor and had a wonderful silky texture from the collagen released by the tendon. It paired perfectly with the marinated seafood. A sip of the soup cleansed the palate from the strong soy sauce, making the next bite of crab or shrimp taste fresh again. The tendon itself was tender and well-cooked. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the mustard soy dipping sauce served on the side. Overall, this meal felt more like experiencing two very different marinated seafood traditions. Korean-style marinated seafood emphasizes the deep savory flavor developed through soy sauce curing, while Cantonese-style marinated seafood highlights the natural sweetness of the seafood with layers of ginger, garlic, cooking wine, and fresh aromatics. Even though I personally still prefer the Cantonese style, I enjoyed experiencing this traditional Korean approach.
