This is one of my favourite markham HK cafe. Now they offer malatang. Their prices are still very good compared to what's out there. They have all day breakfast specials as well as tea time. I like how you can get cold soy milk with your combo without paying extra. I tried their Malatang recently and although there is a minimum weight, you're looking at about $12-14 starting which is typical pricing. Spicy broth was delicious!! read more

Decided to try this place out after my mom saw recommendations from a Chinese Youtuber. Decent and spacious Hong Kong style cafe, with wide selections on the menu- from all-day breakfast to combos to simple fried rice/ noodles, we came during the afternoon tea hour (2p-5p) so we picked our meal based on the tea menu. Their afternoon tea choices ranged from simple PB&J to fried noodles/ rice and each meal comes with a complimentary hot drink or soy milk or add $1 for cold drinks. We opted for their homemade shrimp ball vermicelli and Shanghai Noodles, a classic HK milk tea and cold MTC (milk tea and coffee mix- a staple Hong Kong drink). Both dishes were quite decently portioned for an afternoon tea price, especially the Shanghai noodles- we had to bring home half the plate and it was enough to bring as lunch the next day! Flavour wise.... the shrimp ball was quite bouncy, and has a nice firm texture, but tasted a little salt water in it. The soup in the vermicelli has barely any flavors, so an extra dash of soy sauce would be helpful. Shanghai noodle tasted a little sweeter than the flavour we were used to, a little lack in that dark brown colour. Dropped by Kitchen M on a Friday evening with my mom, around 6:30pm and it was averagely busy. It's mostly popular with older people, or small families. The parking lot is very empty, despite sharing it with several other services and restaurants. We were seated in a booth, since we were a party of two. The menu is quite extensive, ranging from all-day breakfast to your regular HK cafe foods, to steamed lotus leaf rice. We opted for the staple baked pork chop rice and the steamed pork neck lotus leaf rice (pictured). Both meals came with a drink. The menu said that the leaf rice would take 15-20 minutes, but it really came about 10 minutes in. The portion sizes are huge, so it's really worth the value. Both of us could only finish half! The service is about average. We ordered a horlick and a lemon tea and despite the server repeating the order back to us, thought we had said a horlick and milk tea. We ordered another meal to go with a lemon tea too and thought we had said milk tea. The server also seemed to be a bit nervous (maybe their first day?) and it took a little while to order. They generally left us alone for the rest of the meal though. 7/10 There are definitely better HK cafes in the area, but it's good for a quick, cheap fix. read more

We were here for the first time and ordered their sirloin steak (3 star) medium rare. It came with parts rare so had them cook it further. We felt that the gravy may have ruined or altered the steak taste to the downside. It tasted well cooked and seasoned. It's just not at par with the steak houses, of course. Soft shell crab rice was ok. We also had their combo (3 choices - at the back of their menu) - sliced beef, tofu and grouper and general tao chicken. All were decent but we d say they are not as good as Bayview Kitchen (Major Mack and Bayview). Again, they don't taste bad. They're decent. There were customers who were taking out as well. We did not try any of their snacks or breakfast ones including the drinks though. We had coffee and it had milk as well on it. It's ok but not the best. read more

The other day, I deviated from my norm. After getting my bloodwork done, I tend to hit McDonald's for my beloved sausage and egg McGriddle combo. After fasting for more than twelve hours, I want food immediately after my bloodwork. I tend to visit the northeast corner of McCowan and Highway 7 often. I like the pho place, with a Baskin-Robbins steps away. The last time I came back from Waterloo for work, I wanted dinner and came here for pho. I looked over at Kitchen M and it piqued my interest. I decided to have breakfast here on Tuesday, after my bloodwork was over and I needed nourishment. I had no problems parking in this plaza. Kitchen M is a Cantonese-style eatery. I don't know what the M stands for. Maybe it was taunting Me, Mary, to come in... haha! I walked in. A woman asked me in Cantonese how many were in my party. It was just me. I sat down at a series of tables mashed together. I got hot water. I felt like a child at home again! The breakfast menu brought back childhood memories of having Hong Kong milk tea and macaroni in soup. I carefully looked at all the yummy options. I did option D from the breakfast menu section. It consists of two fried eggs, sausage, and buttered toast. I then added option 2, which is luncheon meat macaroni in soup. I also ordered Hong Kong milk tea. Growing up, I had Hong Kong milk tea. I got tired of it by the time I hit grade 8 and switched to milk. It tasted just like what I had back then, except that I needed cookies to dunk them into it. My food came super fast. I swear that it was a five-minute wait after I had placed my order when everything came to my table. It was better than getting fast food at McDonald's! These days, I tend to like my eggs overhard. The yolks were runny, which was how I ate them growing up. I swear that I was reliving my childhood by dunking buttered toast to sop up the runny yolky goodness. The sausages were yummy. It was all perfect. I have never had macaroni in soup for breakfast. My mom used to make it for dinner. This bowl of deliciousness is perfect from breakfast. I loved the vegetables in it. The macaroni had the perfect firmness that I enjoy. The soup wasn't overly salty. It was just right. Let me praise the luncheon meat in this macaroni. My love for fried-up luncheon meat came from my mom. I love it by itself, in sandwiches, in soups, ... pretty much everything! It doesn't matter that it's mystery meat to me. I love it. It explains why I love hot dogs, I suppose. This luncheon meat was so good. I would order luncheon meat macaroni on its own for a meal if it were available. I am now craving it. I got all this food for $6.95 before taxes and tip. It was so cheap and so filling. My mind is still blown that I got so much food at an inexpensive price. Why did it take me so long to find this place?! There is a buzzer on each table where you can ask for assistance with your order, get your bill, and more. I didn't use it to get my bill. There were so many staff members walking around that it was easy to flag someone. This place allows you to pay in cash or by debit card. I was so thrilled that the latter was offered. I didn't have enough cash to pay for my meal. You have to go up to the counter to use the debit machine. All went well. I definitely am coming back here to get yummy food fast. I'm a fan, especially when I want to relive my mom's cooking and my childhood. I can see myself being retired, coming here for breakfast, pulling out a newspaper to read, and spending some leisurely time without feeling pressed to vacate the eatery after stuffing myself with decent food. Thought this was just an HK style cafe place... NOPEEEE wrrronnnggg. They also serve Chinese stir fry dishes! Came here before for their cha chaan teng stuff... it's pretty average. Nothing to really write home about. Got their satay rice noodle soup + egg sandwich set as per yoozh. It's aight, better than Cafe Hollywood that's fo sho. My quest for the perfect HK egg sandwich continues tho - their scrambled eggs still weren't fluffy enough. Buttttt... recently, we came here for their dinner a couple times... and I'm shook. It's actually pretty OK food (albeit MSG-laden). Their fried dishes have "wok-hay", super fresh, and are all pretty flavourful (FROM MSG no doubt LOL). Prices here are cheap! Def a joint where locals come to avoid the dinner chaos closer East of Kennedy/7. Also, service is actually really good here! Super surprising for a very moderately priced Chinese restaurant. Food is bad... cleanliness of the restaurant is bad. Saw the waiter clean everywhere using the same rag...-_-". I guess he didn't even rinsed it. One of the waitress had an unique style of taking orders lol. We called out the order using the dish name. She told me to give her the item number. Second dish I ordered by giving the item number then she will ask for the dish name. We went back and forth for several more dishes then I got fed up so I just pointed to the dish on the menu and let her write whatever she understand on her paper. Worst part was when she repeated the orders back to us. She used the item number and expect customers to know the menu by heart??? I was indecisive when studying their menus. They have so so so many choices. I am not exaggerated. Definitely true. It is a great menus which overwhelmingly cause people like me indecisive or mind changing on food orders. It makes you wanna return again for other choices. Love this part as we customers have more options. My Kitchen is an authentic HK style tea and food restaurant. Afternoon menu start at 230pm, small portion for noodle in soup for hungry lady like me. I'm actually ok with this place but recently we had been getting take out more instead of dinning in and there's lots of quality issues with the take out. If you're a ordering take out, Make sure you open your take out before going home. So this time I decided to take pictures and warn people. You can see there's egg shells stuck on the French toast and they still have the sticker on the lemon in the iced lemon tea. This place is my constant go-to for great quality HK food. The menu has a wide range of selection for everyone and their HK milk tea is up to par with real HK milk tea!! The customer service is always consistent and they are efficient, the staff is also very friendly. For dine-in during COVID, they have adapted good physical distancing policies. I've noticed a lot of companies have raised their prices and limited their menu due to COVID, but Kitchen M hasn't done either of those, which is something I really appreciate. While at Ming's Noodle Cafe, my parents noticed a sign on the wall that indicated that there was a "Kitchen M" in Markham. We looked it up later and realized it's located across from Markville Mall, which we frequent. So we decided to check it out. This place is much bigger than Ming's -- I assume they're all run by the same people (hence the ad in Ming's). It's so big that there's little devices on the tables for you to get a waitress to come over to get your order, get the bill, or ask for service. I suppose this is where the lack of service comes in -- if you don't ask for it, the waitresses might even ignore you! Overall, the menus seem more or less the same as Ming's. Food quality seems the same as well so that's a good thing. It's your typical HK cafe fare that is decently priced. Definitely coming back here if I want some HK cafe food before heading over to Markville Mall. read more

2.5/5, +.5 for service The long anticipated stall that used to be Toro Sushi has finally opened. After passing by this place at least 10 times a week, I finally saw the open sign lit on Tuesday. Since I was busy yesterday, I decided to wait until tonight to eat here. For 9pm, this place was ridiculously busy. However I assume it was full of people who wanted to try this place for the first time, so I'm not expecting the full seated load to last. The menu here is very extensive. There was your typical HK style cafe options, as well as dim sum. There are two featured items on the menu which are also advertised outside the restaurant along the wall facing Highway 7. I decided to try one of them, which was the Shanghai style beef noodle soup (forgot the exact term). As we were waiting for our food, one of the employees gave us two 10% off cards, which are valid until January 31, 2015. The meal itself was also 10% off for their grand opening special. The food took a good 15-20 minutes to come, however the iced lemon and iced milk teas both came rather quick. The milk tea here seems to be better than the lemon tea, as my dad found the milk tea to be good and I found the lemon tea to be mediocre. As for the noodle soup...it was also mediocre. Edible at least, but definitely not what I would say memorable. There are a lot of other items in the menu that could be worth trying, but I'm gonna wait for other Yelpers to review this restaurant before considering coming back. read more

Decent Hong Kong style cafe in Markham right next to Markville mall. Their menu selection is pretty big so you are bound to find something to satisfy your craving. In addition to ordering off their regular menu, they offer morning breakfast deals, afternoon tea time deals, all day breakfast and dinner combos. Decent price point depending on what you order. You can get an egg sandwich for $3.50 and a bowl of instant noodles and a drink for $6.50. [Good] Brunch - Pretty good variety of HK cafe food for breakfast and brunch dining. From Western style eggs and sausages to more traditional HK fare such as congee and vermicelli, you should be able to find something you fancy on that particular morning. I've tried a few of the items now and all of them are solid if not particularly spectacular. I liked the Macau style pork chop bun with oatmeal. The meat was tasty and not dry. The mayo was a real nice surprise and brought the sandwich to life. Oatmeal could've been a little more sweet for me but I think it'll suit most people just fine. Value - Being a Chinese place, it's almost a given that you get good bang for buck. [Worth it?] I would say so. I wouldn't say we frequent this place but we do swing by once every little while and so far I haven't had a bad experience. I'd say it's a very "average" restaurant with a reasonably priced menu and average portion sizes. The service was also average, but I wouldn't expect more for a HK style cafe. Sister company of Ming Kei in Scarborough. Same chef. I think it's pretty decent and maybe better than Phoenix. Kept most of the design from previous Japanese restaurant. I got the soft she'll crab fried rice ($12.95) and I thought they would give me tiny pieces of soft shell crab and have to dig for them but there were actually many pieces ans big too. Overall I give this place a good thumbs up. Dine in guests also get free Chinese news paper (either Ming Pao or Sing Tao), that's a dollar savings on its own!! If their milk tea sucks, then I won't be coming back. But I give this place a thumbs up for their milk tea. Nice and strong. Couple be a little bit hotter though. Their afternoon tea menu has gotten better. I remember when they first opened it was a bit lacking and the choices weren't as great. I noticed they improved it... I'm willing to try more.
