To get to the point, this place is a hidden gem in Waterville. I came here for lunch last week…read morewhen I was in town to visit the art museum. I selected Opa because of the other great reviews and I like Mediterranean food. I was greeted with a warm welcome as soon as I came in and sat at the bar. I initially got a Greek coffee which was made to order, hot and delicious. Ava, the bartender, was professional, knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. I couldn't have asked for more. I ordered the falafel dish and was quickly brought a plate of warm bread and olives in oil. Both were outstanding! Looking over the menu, I noticed they had a few Greek wines so I asked Ava about one interesting one that had hints of fig and tobacco. She immediately poured me a sample to taste and it was delicious so I got a glass. My meal came and it too was really outstanding. Every bite was delicious. To add to my experience, Ava put the Bob Ross channel on the TV above the bar so I got my art experience too. Later, the chef came out and talked to me for a while about travelling to Greece to really study the cuisine. He was clearly continuing to immerse himself in the culture to further perfect his already highly skilled craft. I would highly recommend Opa. What a wonderful total experience.

We first tried this place 2 yrs ago- it was good food. When I walked in I kept asking for a menu. I…read moreasked the bartender- a guy - another girl -- nothing. Then I reasked the bar tender and she was too busy - asked a girl again - never came back. Finally a customer grabbed one and handed it to me . We tried it yesterday- absolutely awful - sorry but -- the meat was super fatty - couldn't chew it - show it to my GREEK friend from Astoria Queens cause she couldn't understand- she agreed- way too fatty -- We dumped it - couldn't chew it. We also ordered spanakopita. We opened it up tonight -- Triangle shaped individual with JUST spinach -- the feta cheese was spread out UNDER these triangle spinach thing (4) super tiny like appetizers- not a meal - no salad either like really? This was a dinner? so very very upset over this food. You will say to me it's was Mothers Day - 9 tables isn't very busy for Mother's Day -- a regular dinner crowd. We expected when we drive 1 hr to this restaurant get great food at a place that almost has 5 stars. I can understand we aren't in Astoria Queens NY but come on - this wasn't hard at all. I waited a whole year to drive back & I really wanted to give a great review but the food was just awful. Very are very disappointed . . .

Excellent customer service! If they are busy (which is often all day on the weekends), they will…read moretake your name and number and will call you when your table is ready. Location - Great thing about their location is there are plenty of places to kill time while waiting for your table - local shops or Waterville Creates. We were there on a Saturday and we arrived around 2:30 for an late lunch/early dinner. To our surprise, there was a 25 minute wait! It's a popular family restaurant as well. It's a lot bigger inside than it seems from the outside. When you walk in, there are mostly high tables and a long bar with seating. Walk past the bar and on the right is a dining area with a lot more tables. We had 2 kids and 4 adults and we had plenty of room at a center table. There were booths along the wall. Our server was so great. So patient, and kind. She was great. She checked in regularly, our drinks never went dry. The food was excellent. We had the food for take out during the pandemic and thought it was ok. Having it in the restaurant - HUGE difference. I got the cheese curd burger without the top bun. My nephew loved his chicken wings, my niece loved her mac and cheese. We all loved our burgers and my bro-in-law liked his reuben. I loved the fries, they seemed more the "chips" from the UK - which I loved. Parking - street or on the concourse below Main Street. We will definitely be back.

Good food and service. Generally pleased. Prices not bad. Pretty much consistent with similar…read morerestaurants.

We have had good experiences with our take out orders. They…read moreare a very busy restaurant, given they are really the only Mexican restaurant in Waterville. They are so busy, at times, they do not accept take out orders. We ordered take out and there was a line right to the door waiting to be seated. The tables were full and it was not even 5pm on Saturday. The waiting area is decent, but can get crowded in the front hallways section. The restaurant is a bit dark, in fact, we had a hard time reading the receipt in the waiting area to complete it. Plenting of seating, a lot of booths. Very clean. LOL The staff members were definitely hustling - moving quickly to serve and clear tables and address people getting take out (us). The food tastes fresh and not overly seasoned. I was surprised at how mild, almost dull some of the meats were, with the exception of the delicious chorizo chimichanga. The pulled pork and the chicken, definitely needed the sauces and salsas that come with it. Warning, if you are not fan of cilantro, you may want to ask before ordering, as some of the items have it automatically added and cooked with it. There is plenty of food with every order, including chips and salsa to go. We definitely will be back and hope to have dinner at the restaurant sometime.

Drinks came some time later and for the first time in my adult life - I sent mine back. No hint of lime nor tequila. It was like a flavorless snow cone. Food finally came and the food wasn't what we ordered. Close enough. Blandest "authentic Mexican" food you'll ever eat. Service was sporadic, building needs a paint job, but the waitress was nice. Probably won't go back.

Small operation and the husband and wife team make it feel like you are dining at a family's home. Cozy and welcoming filled with delicious aromas of the food. We called in an order for take out. Glad we did, as there was a few people order at the counter when we arrived. Apparently there is the potential of them selling out, so order early! We ordered the following and LOVED everything, even the 3rd year old: Arayas - Lebanese Pita stuffed with Kofta seasoned Beef, accompanied by Greens and dollops of Zhoug and Labneh. Baked Crispy Spinach Fatayer - Onion, Lemon, EVOO in a Soft Pastry Pouch. Meat Fatayer - A Levantine Cuisine Staple, Ground Beef, Tomato, Onion, Pomegranate Molasses, Lebanese Seven Spice and Garnished w/ Pine Nuts. Chicken Shawarma Wrap - Braised Chicken Thighs, with Tabbouleh, Labneh, Tahini Dressing, and Pickled Onions, Grilled Crisped in Tandoori Bread. Kibbe - This Lebanese recipe is popular throughout the Middle East - made with Beef, Cracked Wheat, Onion, Spices and Pine Nuts. Chicken & Rice - Simmered with Beef, Rice, Pine nuts, Chicken Broth and Lebanese 7 Spice. Lubia b'Zeit - Green Beans, Onion & Tomato with EVVO & Seven Spice over Basmati Rice. (Vegan) The portions were great and we were able to share. My favorite was the Arayas and the Chicken Shawarma Wrap. We definitely recommend and can't wait to eat there again.
