After hiring a consultant who was familiar with many of the options available to us in the Northern Virginia area they compiled a list. After reviewing the list, we started at the very top. Tysons Woods was at the top of the list. We called and scheduled a tour of your location on Central Avenue. Upon entering the location, all of your employees we encountered were very friendly and knowledgeable of the potential needs my wife may require after a brief history was shared. One tip we were given by our consultant was to be aware of any smells when we visited the home. Smells of uncleanliness or cleaning products used to cover bad smells were a warning sign. To our pleasant surprise, we did not find any objectionable smells, no smells of cleaning products, just the smell of fresh cooking food on the stove preparing for lunch. The home looked impeccably clean and neat. When meeting some of the other residents, they looked just as neat. They were clean, dressed in clean clothes, and enjoying their day in the living room. They were cooking lunch and the place smelled wonderful. No boxes or frozen meals here, just good home cooking. We decided to place her in your care and we are very happy with our decision. She was very well cared for. She was always dressed in clean clothes, her undergarments were clean and dry. She really enjoyed the food at your place. We never questioned her safety while at your facility. We rested well knowing that you all were taking care of her. You would be doing a disservice to your loved one if you did not go and check out Tysons Woods as a possibility.

We love this facility. It is an assisted living in a "home" setting with a total of 8 residence. It was a very clean family atmosphere. Our mom was closely watched over and cared for by the most professional ,dedicated and loving staff. We are very grateful for the loving care given to our Mom. They are attentive and responsive to not just the needs of the family but more importantly, ensuring the patience has the right aid to meet their healthcare needs. You can imagine after a major stoke - the needs of my mother being many! However, Virginia Home Care Services met the challenge with several aids conducive to my mother's personality and new life changes. This was extremely important! They held my mother's hand every step of the way! They accompanied her to appointments and provided the necessary reassurance that everything would be ok! From Lovia, Reighn, Sophie, and Hannah (physical therapist) and others interaction with my mother, she's happier, more conversational, and motivated to reach and surpass all goals. I would not recommend Heritage Hall to care for an elderly relative. My father was there for a…read morecouple of months and it was a terrible experience. We had problems with both the staff and the administration. Most of the nurse assistants were very nice and helpful but they are overworked & short staffed and my father would often be neglected by them. I would have to go find someone to assist him in urinating, etc., and that often turned into an extensive search as often not a single staff member was in sight. I am a male and one of the nurse assistants, a black lady named Sarah, made sexual advances towards me on several occasions. She would grab me in a bear hug and rub her body up against mine and attempt to kiss me on the neck. The first time it happened, I just pushed her off me and thought she got the message. The second time it happened I complained to the Social Services Director, a lady named Maureen, and told her what had transpired and that I was offended by it. Maureen was very rude and actually made a joke about it and said that was how Sarah shows affection. Sarah continued to work there even after this. Also my Dad had given Sarah some peanut brittle for Christmas and after it was gone, she started bugging him for more. She was relentless to the point where he really became upset by her persistence. I also complained to Maureen about this but as in the other issue, she just brushed it aside. I had elected to do my father's laundry instead of having it done on site by their laundry service. My father's clothes started disappearing and to the point where we lost about a dozen articles of clothing. Apparently even though I had notified them I would be doing the laundry, his clothes were still being picked up, taken to their laundry area and then mysteriously disappearing. When my father finally left the facility and came home, I wrote Heritage Hall a short letter regarding his missing clothes & that I would like them back but they never responded. Plenty other facilities to choose over this one and I would certainly not recommend Heritage Hall.

I was attempted to have my father admitted into their skilled nursing care facility and they kept…read moretelling me that a 2014 workman's comp claim was halting his admittance as it was documented as his primary care insurance. I spoke to Medicare who confirmed that this claim was NOT his primary insurance. I also spoke with the workman's comp commission, who faxed them all of the pertinent information for him to be admitted. They still swore this was his primary insurer, which it is not! He was hit while driving a work truck and they awarded him a lifetime award for his knee injury, which is out of his control. The only way to have this removed is to have my father engage in a negotiation settlement. He is in the hospital and has been pending discharge for days! How can he engage in a settlement when he needs to help! 48 hours of efforts for them to tell me NO and for them to be unwilling to help- TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Imagine someone without resources trying to navigate this difficult process, they should be ashamed-- they are supposed to help others, not make it worse!

We hired them earlier this year and went through 3 caregivers in 3 months, finally deciding to terminate the agency after the last caregiver quit their agency because they weren't giving her enough hours (which they tried to pin on us). They have a major employee retention problem and I do not believe they properly vet their employees before hiring them (i.e. no background check, in-person meetings or calling references before they send them to clients' homes). We dealt with significant difficulties, including: (1) inexperienced and unprofessional caregivers; (2) caregivers showing up late for shifts or not showing up for shifts at all; (3) unprofessional administrative staff who are terrible communicators -- one would call both caregivers and clients multiple times in a day without leaving voice-mails and when I decided to terminate after citing problems with their agency he sent me a response that he thought their agency was "perfect"; and (4) the agency's inability to find coverage for shifts or replacement caregivers when there's an issue.
