I would not recommend Heritage Hall to care for an elderly relative. My father was there for a couple of months and it was a terrible experience. We had problems with both the staff and the administration. Most of the nurse assistants were very nice and helpful but they are overworked & short staffed and my father would often be neglected by them. I would have to go find someone to assist him in urinating, etc., and that often turned into an extensive search as often not a single staff member was in sight. I am a male and one of the nurse assistants, a black lady named Sarah, made sexual advances towards me on several occasions. She would grab me in a bear hug and rub her body up against mine and attempt to kiss me on the neck. The first time it happened, I just pushed her off me and thought she got the message. The second time it happened I complained to the Social Services Director, a lady named Maureen, and told her what had transpired and that I was offended by it. Maureen was very rude and actually made a joke about it and said that was how Sarah shows affection. Sarah continued to work there even after this. Also my Dad had given Sarah some peanut brittle for Christmas and after it was gone, she started bugging him for more. She was relentless to the point where he really became upset by her persistence. I also complained to Maureen about this but as in the other issue, she just brushed it aside. I had elected to do my father's laundry instead of having it done on site by their laundry service. My father's clothes started disappearing and to the point where we lost about a dozen articles of clothing. Apparently even though I had notified them I would be doing the laundry, his clothes were still being picked up, taken to their laundry area and then mysteriously disappearing. When my father finally left the facility and came home, I wrote Heritage Hall a short letter regarding his missing clothes & that I would like them back but they never responded. Plenty other facilities to choose over this one and I would certainly not recommend Heritage Hall. read more

I was attempted to have my father admitted into their skilled nursing care facility and they kept telling me that a 2014 workman's comp claim was halting his admittance as it was documented as his primary care insurance. I spoke to Medicare who confirmed that this claim was NOT his primary insurance. I also spoke with the workman's comp commission, who faxed them all of the pertinent information for him to be admitted. They still swore this was his primary insurer, which it is not! He was hit while driving a work truck and they awarded him a lifetime award for his knee injury, which is out of his control. The only way to have this removed is to have my father engage in a negotiation settlement. He is in the hospital and has been pending discharge for days! How can he engage in a settlement when he needs to help! 48 hours of efforts for them to tell me NO and for them to be unwilling to help- TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Imagine someone without resources trying to navigate this difficult process, they should be ashamed-- they are supposed to help others, not make it worse! read more

My husband and I were looking for a facility for my father in law and we found this hidden Gem in Leesburg. We were put on a waiting list, which was ok with us. We get a call a few months later and THANKFULLY THEY HAD ROOM!! Natalie is amazing and very compassionate when it comes to listening and showing a HUGE amount of Empathy. My father in law had alzheimers/dementia and was a challenge upon arrival and for the first few months, but Heritage Hall staff made him comfortable and tried all methods to keep him comfortable. We have shown up night/day/weekends/early mornings and the facility has always been clean, smelling great. (Of course when they are changing residents, you will get that smell, but that is all homes/hospitals etc..) They work hard to make everyone a priority and feel as such!! NATALIE TYWMAN IS GREAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTT!!!! ADMISSIONS The food always smells wonderful and the dining room is immaculate. I am very pleased and never concerned when it comes to his health and or safety. Everyone there is top notch and it makes a family feel great when all staff members know who we are and all call my father in law by his name. We are totally satisfied and would recommend this facility to anyone! FYI - He has been there almost 2 years without incident. read more

I was there for rehab for two weeks following open heart surgery. The staff was wonderful and had physical therapy a few times a day. the room I was in was a bit old and needed updates, but I was only a part time resident so no decorations. But they do need to update. The food on the other hand was awful. Perhaps it's beif the dining room was open, but because of covid they had a outside source bring it in? I could barely eat anything they gave me. Not good for health reasons. read more

Great staff. Very thoughtful and caring. The best therapy team. Everyone works together for their residents! They make the transition from home or hospital to the facility seamless. The social workers are amazing and getting everything set up for discharge to home. Overall, highly recommended! read more

My mother in law is happy and well cared for here. We have found all the nurses and aides to be compassionate, very hard working, and full of humor and companionship. Mom is usually happy with the meals and can always get a fresh grilled cheese or peanut butter sandwich if she is hungry or doesn't like what is served. It's not the fanciest or roomiest building - it's a little small and old - but it is always clean. One of the things we like about it is that all rooms are on the ground floor with large windows. There is a really nice courtyard with a fountain and great beds of seasonal flowers that residents can access when they please to get some fresh air. We brought a bird feeder to put outside Mom's window and lots of plants for the wide window sill. She feels like she has her own little garden. read more

If you love your family member - find them a better place - Or Make sure you visit them DAILY Or even a few times a day. And add a nanny cam or 2. Do not have them do the laundry, clothes get lost, ruined, on a regular basis. Meals are abysmal. Little variety or only 1 meal option. If you don't like what they are serving, too bad. And hope you like beets, sauerkraut and red jello with marshmallows because if they don't have it at lunch, then it will likely show up at dinner. There is a reason most hospitals and care centers DON'T serve beets or red jello - they can look like blood, or cover up blood if patient regurgitated and for beets in bowel movements. Staff responsiveness..... SLOW, and VERY SLOW. Mom's roommate was not allowed out of bed without assistance. She is supposed to push the button when she needs to bathroom. One evening while I was visiting Mom, she waited 45 minutes, I went to the desk after 20 minutes to tell them she really had to go and was getting uncomfortable, 25 minutes later they showed up, give her a tsk tsk because she was now soiled (and physically uncomfortable, and embarrassed, defeated, sad). About another 45 minutes later they finally came to clean her. Those 90 minutes were so difficult on her, she went from smiling and pleasant, to miserable and withdrawn. That had an impact on Mom and me, a negative impact. And NO, they were not understaffed, at least from the standard that all the scheduled employees were on duty, and NO they were not busy helping others. The staff seems pleasant enough, but the standards of care and quality of food is really poor. Forget snacks. Forget evening activities. If your loved one has to be there you need to plan to be there DAILY (usually bringing meals, drinks, snacks) if you want them taken care of. Final insult, notified them 7 days in advance when Mom would be leaving - they had nothing ready (paperwork, doctors orders etc) and NONE OF HER PRESCRIPTIONS. The next day I went back to get her prescriptions and instead of medicine they handed me paper prescriptions to go get filled, so I went to the pharmacy, where I was presented with a huge bill because the insurance company refuse to pay because they had just paid the Care Center for her monthly refills. The insurance company told me to go back to the center and get her prescriptions there I went to the center and they refused saying they did not dispense medications. I called Insurance back they did an emergency authorization and filled mom's prescriptions. Then a few days later the center called to say I could pick up Mom's prescriptions but when I went they just gave her a few of her cheap generic prescriptions they kept all of the expensive medications and especially noticeable, they kept all of her pain medications which had just been filled for a full 30 day supply. They did not refund her bill or her insurance company for any of those medications. I'm sure they either sold them to another patient, and the pain medication I'm sure they did something else with. Highly Questionable Behavior and I do not think we are the only ones this is happened to. Someone else I spoke with, her mom had passed away there and a lot of that person's better clothes vanished , and they never sent her medication back home. She didn't even think the medication at the time only afterwards when she saw how much the insurance had paid for it just a few days before her mom died, and wondered what happened to that medicine that had been paid for. Some of it was very special and very expensive medicine. read more

We have had some horrible experiences at other places so I am happy to give Heritage Hall the highest rating. I never would have selected it based on first impressions. As a matter of fact, the first place my mom lived was a brand new one BR apartment. However, the care was completely lacking. At Heritage, the entire staff is miraculous! From administration to nursing staff to housekeeping to dining staff, every person I have encountered has been a Godsend! They all know her and treat her with dignity and respect--and love. Everyone has a smile and a hug for her--and for me! I have complete faith in their care and am more at peace with her safety and wellbeing than ever. The administration just changed after many years in the same hands. Sometimes a change is disappointing but in this case, things are even better. Can't say enough good things. read more

My mother recently spent 2 weeks at the Heritage Hall in Leesburg VA for rehab. As far as these type of facilities go, Heritage Hall really delivered... and unfortunately we have experience due to prior stays at two other rehab facilities in the DC area. We were very fortunate to have a wonderful primary nurse with a great bedside manner, which made my mother's stay comfortable and easy to manage. Our assigned social worker was very responsive to my questions and concerns despite her very busy schedule. My mother was also very pleased with the PT/OT & speech therapists. Often times the experience of being in skilled nursing care is less than perfect, but Heritage Hall in Leesburg really did very well given the grim circumstances that often put our loved ones there in the first place. It's a hard job and I am grateful for their help in getting mom back to the point she could be at home again. read more

My 92 year old father suffered a stroke and spent 30 days in rehab at Heritage Hall Leesburg. The staff is highly professional and provide caring support to all clients. The nurses, CNAs, and therapists are responsive and work diligently to service the clients needs. We highly recommend this rehab facility. read more

My mother-in-law is at the memory care unit at Heritage Hall in Leesburg. The staff is so kind and lovely to her. She is well cared for and they update us regularly with any issues or concerns. They couldn't be nicer to her or us. read more
