Whether it is a haircut, color, or full transformation, she takes the time to make sure it is what you want and that you feel good leaving her chair. Tanya was great working with my curly/wavy hair. Got a deluxe cut which included the scalp message and oil treatment, it was great. The shop is clean and inviting. I love the style she did for my hair as I told her I just let it air dry with root clips for volume the cut she did works great for this. I haven't had my hair cut in over a year and with summer coming up we all know how hot it gets so she cut it the length I wanted. LOVE IT. read more

Do not go to Vanessa for bleach I left with orange crowning and orange bangs she broke off so much of my hair by aggressively brushing my freshly bleached hair, and she didn't even acknowledge it or say sorry after she was carelessly blowdrying my hair she got my hair stuck in the blowdryer TWICE like how did you do that? And when my hair was dry my bangs were standing up like a peacock guess she doesn't know how to style hair either, really wish I drove 3 hours away to my regular hairdresser but will definitely be doing now after this nightmare of an experience. Like just say you can't do blonde and only accomplishing one blonde client right after cosmetology school doesn't count as experience! read more

I wanted to like this place, I really did but 2 months later I'm still so upset that I spent hours and over $250 here. I walked into a cute, clean salon for my appointment with Tanya. She was friendly and made conversation to pass the time. (That's where the 2 stars come in.) I am no stranger to a blonde balayage but this is NOT it! I was left with orange spots and harsh lines. I was reassured that after a few washes the color would blend together. . Never heard that one but here I am many washes later with uneven colored hair. SEE PICTURES. I contacted Tanya after my second visit and let her know I was unhappy and my hair desperately needed to be fixed. Our schedules didn't seem to match so I never went back. I moved back home and I am very happy to go back to a hairstylist that I know wouldn't let me walk it of a salon looking like I did after Tanya did my hair. Good luck ladies! read more

Late review: Got my hair colored here in February. Horrible experience. I had shoulder length hair I had just cut in January (super healthy). I'm a natural blonde color and my hair color was currently colored Auburn. I wanted a natural looking blonde; (think Jen Anniston). Well, at first the color wasn't correct. Still auburn with blonde highlights! Not what I asked at all. So the stylist said to come back and she would "fix" it. Came back in a few days, $200 later it was completely fried and a very copper, ugly blonde. Very disappointing. Tried contacting the stylist and she told me to "lose her number"!! Contacted the salon owner and she said she would review things with said stylist and get back to me. Guess what?! She never did!!...It was literally so bad I went home and shaved my head!!! You can see in my posted photos just how much she damaged my hair and how uneven the cut I had the month prior r now was from the damage of this artist. This obviously shows I wasn't happy. They knew of this and were still not willing to come to any type of agreement. Kelly Stephens is terrible. The owner is terrible. . AND, a separate hair stylist at the salon even personally messaged me months later telling me not to talk badly about the salon! Are you kidding me?! Completely Unprofessional. Truly a beautiful shop inside! I couldn't believe the ambiance for how affordable the treatments and services were!!!!!!! It was my favorite salon in all of Twenty Nine Palms. Not only were the services absolutely amazing, but so was the service. I really bonded with my hair stylist as she shared with me her beauty supply favorites and tips to keep my color longer in between sessions! And my hair!!!!!! The color came out so flawlessly and I know it must have been in my imagination but I swear I didn't notice my roots until 8 weeks rather than the usual 6 weeks. Late review from a year and a half ago: I called, and was excited the owner said they could do my hair the next day at 4:30. I explained that I needed a color correction, and she said that would not be a problem. I showed up 15 mins early, and sat while the stylist (Kelly), who never acknowledged me, finished with another client. 45 minutes later, she turned to me and said "I can't fix your hair, it's too damaged!". She hadn't even looked at it yet. I asked if she could cut it, and condition it, and she rolled her eyes, and said "I'm not going to stay here all night! Who took your appointment?!" The owner told her she had set up my appt. The stylist stomped her foot, and rolled her eyes AGAIN! By this time I was embarrassed, and frankly quite furious! I walked out, and will NEVER go back! I'm surprised at how much I enjoyed my experience here. I am 22 and have a very hard time trusting people with my hair - I have been traveling to SoCal since I moved up here to get my hair done until now. I went in for a hair cut- not just a trim- and made my appointment with Valerie. She knew exactly the type of hair style I wanted, I didn't even have to explain it much, and she cut it to perfection. I am SO satisfied!!! I just wish I would have given this place a chance two years ago. Ask for Valerie- she is up to date and knowledgable with modern styles, cuts, and coloring- you can tell from her own hair and hair stories. She satisfied me completely. Well, I only have my crappy grandma memory to blame, but I cannot remember the name of the fabulous diva who cut my hair! It was either Valerie or Wendi but either way, I left extremely happy and so glad that Yelp did me right. I was visiting for a week and woke up one day with the need to cut my hair RIGHT NOW. Thankfully A Fox was able to squeeze me in the next day so off I went. It is a unique, funky little place and the icing on the cake was that I needed fills and the nail lady was able to do so quickly, uber affordably and with a design that made me sad that I live so far away.. As much as I would love to drive to the desert to get my nails done, I will have to just remember what a lovely job she did. Of course I can't remember her name either but she was shorter and had brown hair and sat on the left side of the nail booths. I had a gift certificate from my aunt right before I was about to give birth, I've never been or heard of this place, but was happy to try it out! Super super nice people, However, I had the absolute worst French manicure I had ever seen... but the lady was so nice I didn't want to come off rude-so I didn't say anything. One of my girlfriends even laughed at them at how bad they looked.. I wish I still had a picture-but to explain; I have to have super short nails for work- so I figured they would make the white tip larger to appear a little nicer.. but long story short she just followed the tip of my nail and it was literally pencil thin! I was referred to go here with the stylist Valerie. She was an awesome person with amazing talent. She took my hair from a medium brown color and played it up with colorful blonde and caramel highlights. My hair turns brassy very fast, but she made sure to take extra care of it. She spent extra time making sure my colors were right. Then, she chopped off more than 7 inches and styled it with amazing technique. So about a month ago I decided to go from looong (lower back length) natural dark brown hair to shoulder length (a-line) blonde hair. It was done by a friend, however, i didnt feel like the cut was done right and she only bleached it and left me with brassy yellow gold color. I left it alone for a month and today i decided i wanted it fixed. So I called A Fox and hoped they could fit me in on a same-day appointment and they did! I was in the salon an hour later and Valerie greeted me and listened to my story and how i wanted an ombre look instead and a better cut. She explained absolutely EVERYTHING to me until we agreed on what to do. She was genuinely friendly and made conversation that helped pass the time while also telling me what she was doing with my hair step by step. All my questions were answered and by the time i was getting hosed down, i was feelin pretty excited to see the outcome. She gave me a deep conditioning treatment and then put some argon oil in my hair, blew it out and straightened it. IM IN LOVE WITH MY HAIR! As a military spouse, it's always daunting to move to a new area and find a new hair stylist. I went to Wendi Davis at A Fox on a recommendation from another military spouse and I am so glad I did. Wendi is amazing! I loved the way she cut my hair and when I decided to do an all over color with highlights (to fend off the premature grey hair - thanks mom - that was coming in at a rapid pace) Wendi got the color perfect! Wendi has very affordable prices and is very flexible with her schedule - early mornings and/or evenings could be accommodated if needed. Rude and condescending , I walked in with my son (because I called and was told to walk in) and we were not a knowledge for about 20 minutes although eye contact was made several times. When we were finally approached I was asked if we had an appointment, I then explained we were told to walk in and she rolled her eyes and said let me check. She looked into a book and then walked over to panther lady and asked if she could get my son in since she had about an hour and a half opening , the hair dresser replied for what, the receptionist replied a standard boys haircut. To this the hairdresser replied "just a haircut"? At this point I was steaming as she said flat out no. The receptionist started to walk over to another hair dresser and before she could ask the gal told her as she begun to gather her things that she was going to lunch. I was told I could wait but wasn't sure if she could get us in. Didn't even offervanother, apology or anthing. Very disappointed that a local business would act in such avway.
