She even pinned the boutonnières on the guys herself to make sure they were perfect! I saw that this shop was open until 1 p.m., which was great because I got there between 12:45-12:50 and planned to run in and grab a quick gift of some sort, definitely getting out of there before they closed up. When I walked in the store the woman (I assume Jenny herself) was on the phone and she hung up quickly and I was hoping she could help me find something quickly. But when she came over she asked "how can I help you?" and after I explained the situation and that I wanted something small to take to my mom, she said that she was about to close and already had her car running outside and didn't have time to make something up. I hadn't alluded to that and didn't actually want to wait for her to make something up (both because I knew it was nearing their closing and because I wanted to get to the hospital to see my mom). She gestured to a plant that she had, but for many reasons I wouldn't get a plant for someone else. I thought maybe she'd have a gift item of some sort, perhaps not a floral item which would be fine. She told me that the florist at Advocate would probably have something. (I wasn't planning to stop and get something from their floral shop, which was good, because they were closed this day and the following). The whole time I was here I felt like I was intruding and that she couldn't wait to push me out the door. When have you ever been to a place where the employee (or in this case owner!) tells you that they have their car running outside?! That isn't meant to make people feel welcome or like you want to help them. I just don't even understand the point of her having been open her regular hours this day or even at all if she was on such a tight schedule. And she followed me out to take down her signs and stuff. I left empty handed, rebuffed by Jenny, and knowing that I'll never patronize this business nor could I ever recommend it to anyone given my experience.
