I had a TERRIBLE experience here. Really it was one of the most astonishingly bad encounters I've had in a long time. My mom is ill and in the hospital, and though we thought she'd be released this afternoon that plan changed. I wanted to get her something because it's New Year's Eve. I saw that this shop was open until 1 p.m., which was great because I got there between 12:45-12:50 and planned to run in and grab a quick gift of some sort, definitely getting out of there before they closed up. Others have had a good experience so it seemed kismet. When I walked in the store the woman (I assume Jenny herself) was on the phone and she hung up quickly and I was hoping she could help me find something quickly. But when she came over she asked "how can I help you?" and after I explained the situation and that I wanted something small to take to my mom, she said that she was about to close and already had her car running outside and didn't have time to make something up. I hadn't alluded to that and didn't actually want to wait for her to make something up (both because I knew it was nearing their closing and because I wanted to get to the hospital to see my mom). She gestured to a plant that she had, but for many reasons I wouldn't get a plant for someone else. I thought maybe she'd have a gift item of some sort, perhaps not a floral item which would be fine. She told me that the florist at Advocate would probably have something. (I wasn't planning to stop and get something from their floral shop, which was good, because they were closed this day and the following). The whole time I was here I felt like I was intruding and that she couldn't wait to push me out the door. When have you ever been to a place where the employee (or in this case owner!) tells you that they have their car running outside?! That isn't meant to make people feel welcome or like you want to help them. I just don't even understand the point of her having been open her regular hours this day or even at all if she was on such a tight schedule. And she followed me out to take down her signs and stuff. I left empty handed, rebuffed by Jenny, and knowing that I'll never patronize this business nor could I ever recommend it to anyone given my experience. read more

They offer flowers for every occasion and also have gift cards, decoration, etc. I love the vibe of the place as Jenny is so cheerful and can always whip up something great on short notice. She has her happy dog in the shop at all times and there is an upbeat feeling to the place. They even have a little gum ball machine which Jenny gave my daughter a quarter to use - how sweet! Jenny can make wonderful arrangements for any occasion. She has basically any type of flower you would ever want and can order the kinds she doesn't have on hand. There is a clear difference between her flowers and what you can grab at Mariano's. They are definitely more special occasion flowers, but aren't over priced. This store basically robbed me of $130. I had issues with Jenny's website while purchasing sympathy flowers - after entering my credit card info, the site froze up and wouldn't take me through to a confirmation or order review page. I didn't receive any sort of confirmation email so I assumed the order never went through due to the webpage issues. So I purchased flowers through a different shop with a functioning webpage. 48 hours later, I received the confirmation email and called the store only to find out that the order had gone through and the flowers had already been delivered, meaning that I unknowingly purchased 2 sets of flowers. Despite the webpage issues and the significantly delayed email, Jenny took no fault and refused to refund me in any way. I try supporting small businesses but I would never recommend this store. They do not know how to treat their customers or right the wrongs they caused due to their poor technology. read more

I know this place has only positive reviews but my one and only encounter with this shop was not that great. I had placed an online order the night before to have some flowers delivered for a coworker who recently got promoted. I called in the next morning to verify what time the flowers would be delivered and was responded with a woman on the other end basically complaining that she was suppose to take the day off and she only had to come in because she received this order. She didn't have the flowers in stock so she had to wait to get the order in so she would get them there by noon, fine. I paid $14.95 to get these flowers delivered and was met with the obviously annoyed woman who says "I'm the shop owner I'm not even supposed to be making deliveries". I ended up delivering the flowers myself because this person didn't have the time to wait for the actual recipient to get her delivery, she was double parked outside with her dog in her car. Mind you my office building has specific parking spots for visitors and deliveries. Getting the flowers there on time was the only good thing I have. Piece of advice if this is how you are going to treat your customers because you couldn't take a day off I suggest next time just cancel the order on your end. read more
