We contacted A Helping Hand to get estimates on a yard cleanup, as well as a few other projects that we are hoping to do soon. Jason was very prompt in contacting us to schedule a time to come out to give us a quote. We were happy with the pricing and his attitude (yes, this is a factor when we are making decisions to hire people) and ultimately hired his company to do the work! So far, we are quite impressed with the quality of their work - they thoroughly cleaned out the gardens along our fence and removed the horribly invasive ivy, which was the bane of our existence! We decided to hire them on an ongoing basis to help us maintain our yard - it's great, especially because my husband and I are both somewhat physically disabled (MS and back problems). Meant to submit this sooner, but would not recommend this company. We hired them back in 2022 to do a landscaping project for us. We paid a deposit, and then were going to pay the balance after project was completed. Jason came to meet with us and gave us a bid for the scope of work. When Jason and crew came to do the project, it was done with poor quality materials and not done as we had discussed. When Jason came back to discuss the project, he was very condescending to me. I let him know that we wanted him to come back to fix it, and then he wanted to charge us more money. Only when my husband came home to be part of the conversation did he become more respectful. Jason was one of the few people(companies) who actually came onsite to see the scope, listen to our goals, discuss options and do the measuring. Based on our goals he suggested us a few options that surprisingly no one else suggested and with one of which we settled at the end. I actually think I was scammed by Jason, the owner of this business. At the end of the job he texted me how much I owed him, I came out right away to pay him but he was already in his car with the engine running. I asked him for an itemization of bill and receipts for the materials (rocks, plants, drain) that he had purchased and he said he was in a hurry to get going but would email them to me. I paid him and trusted that this was true. It's been months now of politely asking and never receiving these. At first he gave me some excuses and then stopped responding altogether. On top of this, the weeding of our yard was woefully incomplete, the landscaping he did was extremely sparse, and the French drain he put in was done incorrectly and will take a ton of work to dig out and correct. I am so upset that I paid this guy thousands of dollars! read more

My wife and I are relocating for my job and needed to get our home ready to list. We needed to paint the exterior and went out and got three quotes. The first two painters insisted on us getting the entire home painted. I was looking for only the trimming and pressure washing the majority of the house. Jason was punctual and did a thorough inspection of the exterior and didn't try and sell me on getting the whole house painted. This led to me also asking him to do some landscaping for us. After reading Yelp reviews, I contacted three painters for estimates on painting a one bedroom condo in preparation for selling. Jason called back the following day, went to the property the day after, and got started on the job the following weekend. He completed the job ahead of time too! All the walls were properly patched - he did not miss a single nail/screw hole, properly cleaned/primed/painted problem areas, and cleaned up afterwards. Earlier this month A Helping Hand Landscaping & Painting did some landscaping and yard cleanup for us and they did an excellent job. We got so many things done, and done REALLY well! The crew was so very meticulous (showing great attention to detail; very careful and precise) and thorough (complete with regard to every detail; not superficial or partial.) :) They weeded, raked, and cleaned up all flower beds in front yard BY HAND (I mean, they really got down pulled each and every single weed out individually-no small task!). They did light pruning and trimming in both front and back yard to recover trails and borders, mowed, weed-whacked and edged front lawn, pruned back growth along entire driveway to regain driveway edge, leaf blew all hard surfaces of debris, did light rake up of entire back yard to pick up debris, removed moss & debris off of our shed roof and picked up and removed all debris piles in yard offsite. We have a ton of cedar trees that drop amazing amounts of debris that we hadn't been able to get cleaned up on our own, but it is all gone now. And now our yard looks amazing! It looked so good when they were done and it's still looking good. I feel like I got a bargain because they did such a great job at exceeding my expectations. I got a chance to speak with the owner and each of the crew and they were all super friendly, too, which is an added bonus. I love that they excel at communicating. We are ecstatic with our home's transformation. We've owned our house for over 18 years and have only painted areas I could reach... It was way past time to pretty up our ugly duckling. I sought the standard three bids. Jason was very competitive, a neighbor, and came highly recommended from multiple sources. While our color scheme did not change, the house is a huge rambling, tri-level with lots of quirks. Jason did a great job with the replacement of rock in our french drains. We worked with him over several weeks to get pointers as to how we can prepare for the work so that we can save money. Jason is very easy to work with and provided tips for maintaining the drains after the work was done. On the day of the job Jason and Corey showed up when promised and asked questions to make sure that the work they performed was what we wanted. He explained the costs up-front and that additional material would be needed to complete the job, so the final bill wasn't a shock. I am very sad to say that I have ended my Business Relationship with Jason Keith. In the past I had used his company for my Rental Properties because they were inexpensive but it was obvious to me that anything beyond a simple job was outside of his capabilities. After giving him business for years as a Landlord, he decided to go off on me yesterday in one of the most unprofessional rants I have ever dealt with. To quote Jason, "I get more petty complaints from you than any other client I've ever had. Guess I should be used to it by now" When I explained I was letting him know, as the owner of the company, that his guys did not complete what we had discussed, since he was not there (I know I'd want to know if I was the owner), he accused me of being rude & sarcastic. Wow. I've never been treated so awfully by any company I've ever worked with. After posting a review on Facebook for his company, he then proceeded to personally attack and slander me (publicly). I haven't even responded to his lies because his reply to my review is way more damaging than my review and tells you everything you need to know about this person. Not only completely unprofessional, but also a spiteful nasty person. Our yard was littered with fallen debris and pine needles, and our gutters were in need of a major cleaning. Jason made our yard look like brand new. With a new baby, there is no way we would have gotten to this clean-up ourselves. He took 1600 pounds of yard waste to the dump! He even got on the roof to spread out the demossing agent. My husband and I were more than pleased with his work. He's also such a friendly, down to earth guy. He kept me in the loop on the status of his work via texts, phone, and email. Landscaping and Company Review Only: (Not painting) If I could review the final product separately from dealing with the owner I would give 4 stars for the final product and 0 stars for the owner. Our experience with Jason, the owner, was very similar to Linda R.'s review from 7/5/15. It makes me wonder if most of the reviews on here were done by friends and family. I cannot speak for Jason's painting abilities, but if your job requires more extensive details than just a paint color, I'd try to find someone with more experience and someone that can handle cooperative interaction about the project's progress without going postal. Jason misrepresented his abilities in landscaping, leading us to believe he was experienced and capable. He was incapable of discussing details of the job that needed tweaking without becoming rude and making outlandish accusations like "you're taking a threatening tone" or "you're making too many changes at the last minute". Every day that he worked he had a different worker with him suggesting that he does not have a stable crew. He miscalculated multiple material orders (sod, dirt, gravel) and did not know how to build a walkway (thankfully, one of his workers did.) He refused to give us an itemized bill showing material costs and labor $/hr. He even claimed to have unnecessarily lawyered up, stating that he wasn't legally obligated to show us receipts for materials. Our final bill showed only the total cost of labor and the total cost of materials. In the end, we gave up trying to get more detailed information because the price difference wasn't worth the drama. The end product, thankfully came out to ~80% of what we had originally planned, but in retrospect I should have listened to the negative review on here and saved myself from having to deal with such an unstable man. He really needs some education in how to treat the customer. read more
