We had Alderwood Landscape Architecture and Construction design, reimagine, and reconstruct our backyard, and we absolutely LOVE it! We are giving ALDERWOOD 5 STARS but we would give them a GAZILLION more stars if we could. Let us just say we fell in love with this company and the dynamic team from the first contact with Nicole (sales and office assistant) and during our first visit from Tim Glass (Head Landscape Architect) to discuss our project. Then we were awestruck again when Devin Vine (site leader) and his AWESOME crew of Jose Sr, Jose Jr and Santos walked into our backyard and immediately put us at ease with their bias for action, attention to detail and customer obsession. Then we met Johnny Struiksma AKA "Iron Man"! Johnny is the backbone of the operation and his background as a landscape architect, skill in leading and managing people and problem solving was central to the success of the project. The Alderwood team had to deal with poor drainage, complex requirements, logistic issues, and many other things. They addressed all these challenges with professionalism, poise, and excellent communication. The result was a beautiful "Zen like" backyard oasis that exceeded our expectations. They built a beautiful entryway to our backyard that ensures a surprise as soon as our guests cross into our yard. The backyard has three unique but connected spaces. It includes a Zen like garden space. A patio that is perfect for entertaining and relaxing on a warm Summer night, And, to finish, a fire pit that is a fantastic focal point that creates an alluring atmosphere to chill and socialize--serving to complement our backyard oasis on a starry night. The overall design is, at the same time, both beautiful and practical. Alderwood's talented team is no doubt a very critical part of their success but the secret sauce is the strength and conviction of their leadership. From the top down, they represent and instill their company philosophy and their extraordinary values and virtues down to every team member and each team member embodies these values back to their customers. The management team reinforces these beliefs through genuine respect and care for their people and values each worker. Because of this, they get great things done on a consistent basis. They all are the best team of contractors and service providers my husband and I have ever experienced, bar none! We just finished up our project with Alderwood and we still can't believe this is our yard because it's better than anything we could have ever dreamed. We first met with Tim the landscape architect because my husband and I were clueless on what to do with our backyard that was overgrown in places and not functional. Tim saw the amazing potential in our yard and came up with a plan to redo the pool area, add an outdoor structure, fire table and entertaining area and new fence for our pups and kids. Seeing it on paper and then seeing it come to life over the last 4 months has been incredible. Tim personally picked every plant for our yard because we know nothing about plants and trees and it feels like a peaceful retreat now. Thanks Tim for everything! When contemplating our backyard transformation, we spoke with many design-build companies. Alderwood wasn't the cheapest...in fact they were at the top of the pricing estimates. That said, we felt like their process, attention to detail and level of communication was worth it for a project of this scope. wow, am I glad we made that decision. I have been in customer service/sales for 20+ years and it takes a lot to impress me. From the infancy, through completion the entire Alderwood team knocked it out of the park! Tim crafted an incredible design, considering all concerns (above standard drainage, sightlines for water feature/covered structure, partially sunken hot tub, etc.). Johnny answered all project questions and coordinated scheduling for all contractors and material deliveries. Both site managers, Jordan and Jose's attention to detail and level of communication throughout the project was incredible. They took time at the end of each day to explain what they had completed that day and confirm specific design details for the next phases of the project. At project completion, Justin has taken over to ensure everything is functioning properly and answer all remaining questions. Additionally, the two subcontractors recommended by Alderwood, Jeff (carpenter building the covered structure) and Kurt (Mason building the kitchen and fire table) have been excellent! Their level of detail is consistent with the standard set by the Alderwood Team. Needless to say, I can't Recommend Alderwood Landscaping enough! If I could give them 1,000 stars, I would! This is white glove service from planning to execution and the team is laser focused on pleasing the customer. I'm completely blown away by the service and hope to be able to use them again. Tim Glass was our architect and not only was he fantastic at building what we wanted within our budget, he also was honest when he thought my ideas wouldn't work out and took time to explain why. He was constantly adjusting plans on the fly when we threw things at him and always had a can do attitude. Tim and Johnny were always available to answer questions or offer opinions about colors, materials, plan changes, etc. Most companies lose their customer service at execution, but here's where Alderwood manages to take it up another level. Nick (you must get Nick!) and his team Jose (another gem) and 2 others have an incredible eye for detail and take great pride in their work and making you happy. Nick seems to think of everything and not only is our new yard perfect, he left our driveway cleaner than when they came, cleaned up after the sub contractors (even after Alderwood was gone), did some cleaning up in areas that were out of scope, ensured the tiniest detail was considered, and chased down the subcontractors. Any tiny change to the plan and he wanted to review with me. He also was sure not to inconvenience our garage bays or us in any way. I've asked him many questions since he finished and he actions them within minutes. If you want a beautiful yard, this is the place to go! read more

We had such a great experience working with Alderwood Landscaping company. Johnny is amazing and always focused on clients' needs/likes. He makes things happen, very professional. Very clear with his clients and very creative. Before meeting Alderwood we had met with a few people about landscaping our yard around the house which was not useable space. We were disappointed every time we met someone as they said were not able to do much. When we met the team from Alderwood we were so happy as they changed it completely. We initially met Bryan (Landscaping architect) who designed the landscaping plan and included everything we wanted and more. It was such a treat to hear possibilities and creativity to make that space beautiful. Jordan and his team did all the work and made the dream come true. We hired Alderwood to redo our landscaping that had previously done by another company. We are so grateful we did. They helped architect not only the landscaping but the entire flow of our property. They listened to what we wanted our property to be and incorporated that into the design. They created a flow from the pool into the house that was more practical than what the design/build team produced. They created a true "back yard". They were practical and efficient with what they suggested and helped us create stages of work so that we could phase out the landscaping since we were doing a remodel and installing a pool at the same time. Their guidance was spot on and I have received so many compliments on the landscaping and water feature. They built us a water feature that eliminates street noise and is the focal of our front yard. They also worked with some crazy constraints that our property had (wetlands, septic, private well, setbacks) and gave us what we wanted. They did such a fantastic job..I just can't say enough positive. We learned the hard way that going with the less expensive option is not always the best plan. My experience with Alderwood has been outstanding from day one to completion. Alderwood exceeded our expectations. Tim understood our vision and created a modern, elegant, and functional design. Johnny's advice on materials to use for the patio, walls and lighting was spot on. I had originally picked a product that I thought would work, however, after our first meeting I realized I made the wrong choice. I was thrilled he provided his opinion. The entire team from Alderwood was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and professional from start to finish. Dealing with our local city isn't easy, but they took care of that entire headache, working with us to adjust plans as needed to meet local code.
