We used Watermark (and Steve Jackson) for what we considered to be a fairly major renovation…read moreproject at our home in North Dallas. My wife and I found a home in our "dream neighborhood," but we wanted to make some upgrades in the kitchen, living room, and master bathroom. Over 3-4 months, we did some major work (i.e. "take it to the studs" in most rooms) and Steve got it completed on time and on budget -- with many compliments from our friends and family. Before the renovation, we met with several different contractors that provided a series of construction plans and budgets. Steve did that too, but he offered so much more. Most of all, we were impressed by Steve's attention to detail and his keen eye for architecture. For example, most contractors "eye balled" the room measurements. Not Steve. On his first visit, he took measurements of every room and could immediately work with us on room design (or re-design) that helped us envision the yet-to-be-completed project. In addition, other contractors "suggested" that we hire an architect to help with the plans. But the bonus of working with Steve was that his architecture background gave us a "two in one" that could help us envision how we would utilize the house (i.e. you'll want the sink here; the oven here; the pantry here; a door here; etc). In my opinion, this was a huge asset to our remodel plan as we were able to review (and modify) building plans before we started work -- and Steve had some excellent input about "the flow" of our certain rooms in our future layout. Before selecting Steve, we spoke to about 5-7 people that worked with Steve on prior projects and they all offered glowing recommendations of him -- and his work. During the renovation, Steve worked hard to keep his sub-contractors on schedule and routinely updated us on their progress. If we had a modification to our plans, Steve was always willing to find a solution. He also worked closely with us to select light fixtures, cabinet designs, and granite slabs. For other parts, he worked with my wife to "create" her dream kitchen and they would routinely share photos from magazines or the internet so he could best understand what we were "looking for." He did some major work. New hardwood floors that look excellent. A new "rain shower" with a built-in bench that my wife loves. Expanding our kitchen by moving the water and A/C to the attic that allowed us to put an island in the kitchen. Removing a massive (truly massive) fireplace and installing a natural gas fireplace. This was not an easy job and his work was excellent. Now that our remodel project is complete, we can offer our highest recommendation for Steve and Watermark. We are truly happy with the final outcome and it was not a surprising result given Steve's hard work and incredible attention to detail that we now have our "dream home."

I called again on two separate occasions, and no one ever seems to answer. What appealed to me about this company was the before and after photos posted by another Yelper. I'm wanting to change the layout of my kitchen, in addition to other extensive interior remodeling. With the architectural background this company has, I thought they would be the best choice. It's just unfortunate that they have poor communication with new/potential clients. Rapport is so very important in huge investments such as home improvement; and so far, I don't have a very comforting impression with how this company engages with its clients.

His workers came over and did a good job in repairing and replacing a lot of items in our kitchen cabinets that needed to be repaired due to mitigation. Nope Then there is a Jeremy Darling saying that I insult them. Since when has a fair evaluation ever been insulting? 98% is excellent so if you want to risk 2% to be questionable aesthetically, structurally and "is this even legal" they'll probably be ok In my case that 2% is a big deal. They are extremely high priced. So with the price tag comes the expectation of awesome high end results. Not my experience.

The job took twice as long as expected.The foreman would show up unanounced so I asked for a schedule time.He will tell you 9 o'clock and a 12 o'clock when I would call him he will tell you 2o'clock.I thought one of my other cabinets was going to be refaced and all they did was put Bondo on it and paint it.When the installers were installing the cabinets I asked if they were having a good day and they said no the drawers were made two small on asking the foreman about this he said don't worry will make them fit. In my living room I had a piece of wood work that was one piece and was put back in as two pieces with caulking in the middle.The seam is very noticeable. Scheduling is very difficult .They don't seem to know when they will have painters available.

Where to begin? Finding a contractor to work on your home can be a scary process. Are they insured?…read moreWill they complete the job? Are they trying to overcharge you? You could take your chances with a random Google listing, or you could call Buford General Contractors and get real professionals. Our job was a complex one. Our house is 40 years old and was suffering considerable wood rot on the deck that had spread into the side of the house. This caused not only a rickety, rotting deck, but water leaks in the house where the wood had rotted through. Not good! What started as a simple deck resurfacing turned into a complex job involving rebuilding the deck stairs, ripping out the old rotten wooden deck surface, replacing it with more durable surfacing that was resistant to rot, and this is the most hairy part.....finding the source of those water leaks and stopping them. One great thing about Buford is that they have great relationships with local subcontractors. If something is not their specialty, they have a Rolodex of numbers they can call for vetted, quality contractors to assist. This job required many specialties, and they coordinated with specialists to give us a great job done the first time. When big storms came after the job and there was still some leaking, they had a man onsite that day who quickly identified the source of an additional leak coming from rotted trim boards above the deck. This was very good and totally not their fault, as the trim boards above the deck were not part of the deck resurfacing, stair rebuilding and wood rot remediation of the deck itself. The price for this additional work was more than fair and it was done quickly and professionally. Seriously, if you live around Grapevine, Southlake, Colleyville or HEB, call them. They were always prompt, professional and reasonable. Not too expensive and not too cheap. You get what you pay for, after all.
