I was referred to A La Mode Bridal by Weddings by Debbie, where I purchased my dress. My initial consultation and first fitting went smoothly, so I had no complaints at that point. Unfortunately, everything went downhill after that. At my second fitting, I noticed a pen stain on the back shoulder of my dress, and instead of taking responsibility, they tried to blame it on me. Thankfully, the stain was removed by the next appointment, but the experience left a bad impression. What was supposed to be my final fitting was even more frustrating. The waist was still two inches too big. I was told this was because I had "lost too much weight," but in reality the dress looked unchanged from the previous fitting, which makes me believe they simply forgot to alter it. Because of this, I had to schedule yet another fitting just 3 to 4 days before my wedding. Even then, the alterations did not come out the way I wanted, and by that point it was too late to fix. The stress this caused so close to my wedding was unnecessary and disappointing. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend anyone use A La Mode Bridal for dress alterations. read more

Amazing! Got my daughters dress altered here and the prices are reasonable and the quality is incredible

This place is alright, but my main issue is the high cost. They charge numerous fees, and I ended up paying $1700 solely for alterations, which is absurd!!!! The initial pricing discussion did not indicate such high costs. When I went to pay after the alterations, the final bill was shocking. Be sure to scrutinize every single price detail. Overall, I don't think the $1700 was worth it because my dress still didn't fit perfectly. I would recommend looking elsewhere before choosing this place, unfortunately. read more

Rosie is the sweetest dress magician! I was nervous when I bought a complicated ridiculously long trained dress on sample sale that was 6 sizes to big! My bridal shop recommended Rosie at A La Mode Bridal and said she was the best! When I met Rosie she reassured me it could be done beautifully which put me to ease. Over the course of 9 months Rosie was extremely patient and accommodating and worked hard to basically reconstruct the dress without disturbing the overall look and lace detail. Her pricing was extremely reasonable and she was a delight to work with. I can't recommend her enough!!!! (FYI - she does better with texting to set up appointments and questions on fittings. Rosie had to almost completely reconstruct my bridesmaid dress because it came in entirely too large and the dress shop basically said "no our problem.." so I was pretty devastated about it..then I met Rosie. Not only is she so good at what she does, but she is one of the most kind, sweet people I have ever met. You can tell she has talent in her work and craftsmanship. This place is the best! They were so accommodating and professional. Angie made me feel like I was the only bride she was working with giving me so much special attention and getting my dress just perfect for me. She was never rushed or distracted. We had several appointments and she was always on time and so quick to reply to all phone calls and texts. With so much going on in the weeks and days leading up to my wedding, it was really nice to know I could count on Angie and my dress would be ready! The lady I was renting my dress from (a different business) was often unavailable and did not answer the phone or call back, but Angie picked up the slack and stepped in when it wasn't her responsibility. Pricing was very reasonable and fair. They were honest and even helped us out for free when we messed up some work they had done on the dress. She even kept in touch after all was said and done, asking to see pictures of my special day and telling me how beautiful I looked! I've been wanting to add this review for a while, and just now getting around to it. Bottom line, Ms. Rosie is a miracle worker. I purchased a great dress on Harwin for my 50th birthday party. It was my "Cinquentanera"! Anyway, I have fat arms and I wanted a dress with sleeves. A shawl (which was really just a piece of sheer material that matched the overlay of the dress, was included. Ms. Rosie was able to use this piece of sheer material and the excess she took from the bottom of the dress and make sleeves that perfectly matched! And, she happened to find some embellishments that matched my dress. It was incredible! Of course, everything was derailed by Covid, so my party was delayed. I put my dress on a few days before my party to make sure I could squeeze into it, and noticed that one of the sleeves had torn from the dress. I'm guessing it happened during my portrait session. Anyway, I hurriedly returned it to Ms. Rosie, and once again, she saved the day. For all of the work that she did, I thought the price was very fair. If I ever needed something custom, this would be the first place I would go. She is truly talented. read more

I don't even know where to start with this review because honestly the service was amazing Ms. Rosita was very sweet lady as well as her grand daughter and the job she did on my dress was really good . She also provided a discount due to the fact that I work for the health care system . BUT pricing wise I just think it was OUTRAGEOUS . My dress was a bridesmaid dress that cost me $200 so I was honestly not looking to spend more the 100 on alterations . we where referred by the brides dress shop and advised the pricing would be fair and also informed by the store that because we had multiple people coming we would get a REALLY good price . The first day we arrived we asked for an estimate to be more aware because obviously as much as everyone wants to say we have the money we do not . We are in a Pandemic and a winter storm that affected a lot of us . This weeding barely even made it to happen. BUT they couldn't even give me an estimate so I said okay well lets proceed I am really not expecting more then $100.00 . I have usually paid else where around the most 30$ but I knew she had to do a little more to make the dress better for me . I was asked to come back to be able to do more measurements and I did she added more stuff to get done on the dress and I asked again for the pricing and nothing could be giving again.. and then I was contacted by the grand daughter and she asked me if I wanted the dress pressed I obviously said yes because I was getting the dress back the day before the weeding so this is already 2 weeks of altering . I once again asked the girl over the phone what the cost would be for the dress she gave me a 25-30 dollar range and I thought that was amazing hoping she understood my question . Well obviously I see there was a miscommunication because now after the dress has been done and 2 days before the weeding I get my invoice FINALLY and my bill is 200.00 . so if you are looking for an affordable store to pay to DO NOT COME HERE or at that make sure you get your invoice before anything . Because the invoice was plain to where that information could have been provided to me from the first day I left my dress . I am not dissatisfied with the work done . This is just a heads up for anyone that its not looking to spend more then 100 on a bridesmaid or any type of dress so simple aside from a brides gown . I am usually not bothered when I know the work speaks for itself but honestly if I would have known the pricing I would have probably not proceeded with this store . BEWARE!! I honestly hate to write reviews, especially negative ones but I feel what this shop is doing is unethical. I stopped by this shop after searching on Yelp for bridal shops in the area to get a veil made for my wedding. I spoke to Rosie and her granddaughter and they were sweet as can be. I spoke to Rosie about having a custom veil made and she seemed to understand my vision which I was really excited about. She then suggested that I bring her my wedding dress for alterations, and that way she could match the veil perfectly. I expressed that I wasn't too sure about it because the bridal shop I bought my dress from guarantees their work or my money back. We talked some more and she began asking my mom and I questions about where we're from, etc. Just being very sweet and friendly. So I finally gave in and asked her for a quote just to compare prices. She could not give me a quote but insisted that I bring her my dress because she would do an incredible job and beat ANY price. She literally used those words and assured me she would give me the best price. She even said she'd give me a discount for being a student! Because it's a mom and pop type shop, I trusted she was telling the truth. A couple weeks later I brought her my dress and we had our first fitting. Once again I tried to get a quote, but she just kept saying not to worry about it because she'd give me a really good price. All my dress needed was hemming, shortened straps, and bra cups. I asked her for a quote on the veil as well, but of course her response was the same. Finally, before I was leaving I told her that I needed to know the price to make sure I could afford it. She finally quoted me and it was MUCH HIGHER than the bridal shop I bought my dress from!! I couldn't believe it! I tried to jog her memory and remind her that she promised to beat "ANY" price. Her daughter came down and said "well we can't beat any price but she does really good work". I told her I just couldn't afford it and with all do respect, why should I pay more with someone who can't guarantee their work? My bridal shop offered a money back guarantee so it doesn't make sense to pay more with someone who I'm not familiar with and can't offer the same promise. I was only going to do it because she promised to beat my bridal shop's price. Even then I was still considering paying the higher price because she had already pinned it. I told her I needed to think and discuss it with my mom. She then got so angry and turned from a sweet old lady to a witch! She said, "you know what I'm just going to take all the pins out". She started taking them all off my dress really roughly! My dress cost me over $2k and she was mishandling it right in my face! She threw the dress in the bag messily and practically threw it at me! I couldn't believe this sweet lady could be so horrible! I still nicely apologized and told her I didn't mean to waste her time but I really believed she would give me a better price. Her response was "well I value my work!" and she stormed off! Her daughter tried to convince me to leave my dress anyway and said Rosie would remember where the pins were. I said no way and got the heck outta there!! I love supporting small businesses, but it's NOT OK to use your charm to take advantage of people. I can only imagine what my bill would have been with the veil. I ended up taking my dress back to my bridal shop and they did an incredible job for a lower price. They found the perfect veil for me as well. Sometimes we try to cut corners and it just isn't worth it. My advice is, don't trust Ms. Rosie's word if you decide to get alterations here. Demand a price up front. Honestly, after seeing the way she treated my wedding dress in my face, I wouldn't trust her with a pair of old jeans. read more
