Ordered a custom length to avoid alterations. Was advised I would not need a hem. Dress arrived 4 inches long but manager claimed it was only an inch too long. Manager admitted they only 'hoped' it would fit and said to just buy different shoes than the ones that I was told would be factor into the dress length. We received excellent customer service. Due to the short timeframe and the closeness of the wedding we had to purchase off the rack. We purchased with the understanding that the dresses were new. We tried the dress on it fit my daughter perfect and it was at an amazing price. They had to sew a couple of buttons on. When we picked the dress up and she tried it on there were multiple stains on the dress the dress was worn in the armpit and we took it to a dry cleaner and clearly the dress has been used and returned. We requested that the store cover the cost of dry cleaner fees and they said it's against their company policy. We went bridal shopping and found the dress my daughter liked at Ventura's. The dress was not clean and Ventura's said cleaning would be an additional charge. The main downside to this experience was the alterations. We were charged $1200 and after 4 return trips, it was still not done adequately. I had to go to my expert seamstress in Bellaire to correct the imperfections. That was an additional $400. All in all, the assistants were helpful and the selections are plentiful, but I cannot recommend Ventura's for your bridal dress shopping. read more

I have debated writing this review, but if I can help at least one bride then this will be worth it. Ventura's Bridal is the worst experience I have had in my wedding journey so far and I owe it to others to describe how disappointed I am. Beginning with the first appointment, we had bad vibes from my sales person, Samantha. She was harsh with my mom and quick to move us through dresses. However, I fell in LOVE with my wedding dress. We paid in full and was notified in September it had arrived and I could come "meet" the dress. To my surprise: Ventura's ordered the completely wrong gown. They tried to pass it off as if I forgot what dress I bought. However, when they checked again, they realized they were the ones who made the mistake. There were no apologies, only that they would re-order the correct dress and it would arrive in December. The wanted me to buy the used sample dress and then made a big deal about paying for the rush shipping, which... of course they should pay for rush shipping. Flash forward to December 29th, I had not heard a word from Ventura's. I called them and Samantha told me via phone that the dress had shipped THAT DAY and would arrive by the end of the following week. Imagine my surprise when two hours later, I received a text from In'Tress that my gown had been in store and was waiting for me to pick up. I understand mistakes happen, but lying to a bride seems to be cause for some discussion. I went on January 2nd to pick up my dress, which was haphazardly hung in a dirty, pink, see-through garment bag (which we paid $99 for). I was not greeted by In'Tress or Samantha, but was helped by a random woman after I asked to try on my dress. Samantha came for about 1 minute to ask if I would be doing alterations with Ventura's. When I declined, I never saw her again, even though the building was empty of customers. I have never run for my life so fast - if I ever have to go back to Ventura's again, it will be too soon. To reiterate, I completely understand mistakes happen. I never once asked for a refund or compensation. However, this entire situation was made for me to feel at fault and for this company to absolve themselves of responsibility. I would never, EVER choose to spend another dollar at Ventura's. Houston Brides, please beware and go literally anywhere else for a dress. I went to David's Bridal afterwards to purchase a new wedding dress garment bags to replace the dirty Ventura's bag. They took better care of me in 25 minutes and $60 then 6 months and $2,000 with Ventura's. read more

BUYER BEWARE: Absolutely worst vendor. My fiancee found her dream dress months ago and paid for alterations. Instead of making the dress fit they completely RUINED the dress, forcing us to have to buy a 2nd dress less than a week before our wedding date. They charged us for the first dress and then charged us to destroy it! Alterations manager Sandra is completely rude and manager of the store is totally ambivalent and unempathetic. I was absolutely dreading the wedding dress shopping experience. I'm not a "sample size" and I've never been someone to fantasize about a wedding dress. I wanted something simple and classic and BOY did Intress at Ventura deliver. I found a few dresses I liked, but Intress asked me to try one she thought would work. I never would have picked it myself but it was PERFECT. Both my mom and I fell in love with it (which is a miracle in of itself). Intress was not only patient and kind, but extremely knowledgable about what dresses they had in my budget and style, and what accessories would go well with it. Not only that, but as Ventura was my first Bridal store appointment of the weekend (and in life!), they held the dress for me for 24 hours to make sure I had the opportunity to shop around to ensure that this dress was the one for me. When I went back the next day to purchase, Intress, as well as the other bridal consultants, were so excited and celebrated with me. Making the follow up appointments for alterations and fittings was a breeze. A good experience shopping for mother of bride dress. Salesperson very good showing me dresses that fit what I was seeking. I tried on size 12 sample of dress I selected: fit just right at hip, a tiny but snug at waist and VERY snug in top. I loved the dress and even as it was tight I could sit and move well. I tried on a 16 for comparison and was swimming in it. Was measured as a 13-14 top, 14 waist and 12 hips. So salesperson assured me a 14 would be ideal and just need to be taken in at hips. All good. Size 14 Dress arrives as promised and as God is my witness it was tighter than the 12!! Sales person assured me that it was indeed a 14 and it is as measured. I actually had lost 4 lbs from when I ordered it so it was not weight gain. My advise is check the actual dress measurement when you pick it up - don't assume just because it is labeled as the expected size doesn't mean it was manufactured correctly. If I had done that I know I'd have been able to have then remake the dress. So my experience was not all that inconsistent with other reviews. Check and double check anything to do with custom measurements and the product you receive! Anyhow Memorial Tailors is working hard to tweak the fit. I may have to just suffer with a too snug fit. **DO NOT TRUST THIS STORE** I am beyond disappointed with my experience at Ventura's Bridal Shop. When I initially purchased my wedding dress, I made it clear to the sales representative what my budget was, and I specifically outlined all the changes I wanted to make to the dress. I was upfront about everything and didn't ask for a discount; I paid full price for the dress, which cost $2,250. During my appointment, the seamstress came down and told me the maximum cost for all the requested changes would be $500. I specified every detail of the changes that I needed to make to the dress. The sales rep knew all about these changes. I felt reassured that everything was within my budget. However, when I went in for my first fitting, I was informed that the cost for those same changes had somehow jumped to $1,200 -- **more than DOUBLE the initial quote**. This is beyond unacceptable and feels like a complete bait-and-switch tactic. They knew my budget and had already agreed on a price, so this drastic increase is not only unethical but borderline abusive. They made a one in a life time experience something very rushed and impersonal, and felt abusive by not disclosing the real price of the adjustments when I decided to buy the dress. On top of that, **they didn't even offer us water** during any of our visits -- a basic courtesy that I would expect from any store. I was willing to take down my bad review if they at least accepted their mistake, they didn't wanted to assist me and told me to pick up my dress. If you are looking for a bridal shop that treats its customers with all pricing upfront, integrity, respect, and professionalism, **Ventura's Bridal Shop is NOT the place to go**.
