Seaforest Bakery is such a cute small Korean-inspired bakery in the South Philly area. It's honestly really exciting seeing more Korean-inspired cafes and bakeries pop up around the city. I tried the gochujang scallion bun along with the banana matcha, and I enjoyed both of them. The flavors felt unique and different from the typical cafe menu you usually see around Philly. I will say it's definitely on the pricier side though, I paid almost $20 just for those two items. However, I still would come back because I did genuinely enjoy what I got and I'm interested in trying more of their pastries and drinks next time. The cafe itself is also much smaller, so I wouldn't really consider it the ideal place to sit and hang out with friends for a long time. Such a cute little spot!! Popped in on a whim walking to my bus stop and really enjoyed everything I got. The space is small, with a few barstool seats at the window, but def more a drop in style place. All of the baked goods are made in house and they all look SO good. I got the orange lemon poppy loaf, it could've used a little more flavor, but it was still awesome. Even with a bit of a line, the barista was getting folks in and out quickly. I always wanted to try this bakery and finally got to try. It is a small bakery with a lot of Korean inspired flavoured pastries. The owner is a Korean American and myself being a Korean I truly appreciate using some Korean ingredients this way. The service was helpful and good; since the bakery is small and popular there was a line going out the store at 9:30am on a weekday. I highly encourage one to go there on the earlier side if you want a good selection. There is not much seating inside (I think few window seatings), and couple of tables outside. I got Hotteok heart rice cake, Black Sesame velvet cake, Makgeolli snickerdoodle cookie, and Doenjang caramel sticky bun. Out of all these I really liked the Doenjang caramel sticky bun - I felt the flavour of Doenjang (Korean miso paste) was used the best. Hotteok rice cake was a bit too sweet for me (although I understood the concept of it), Makgeolli snickerdoodle did not deliver for me since the Makgeolli (Korean rice wine) didn't come through. Black Sesame velvet cake was very rich, and if you like black sesame flavour you will like this. I would definitely go back and try other pastries and drinks (since I did not try their drinks yet). I've seen good reviews and Instagram posts about this bakery, so I decided to stop by on Friday morning around 11. I saw a couple of people waiting outside the door because there's not much room for people standing in lim inside. Fortunately the line moved fast. I got all of the hand pies: mushroom bulgogi, ricotta kimchi, and kabocha curry. All of them have a nice light and fresh pastries. I wish there is more fillings because the flavors are on point. My favorites are the curry and kimchi. The cookies are fresh and sweet. It's sometimes hard to sea the forest through the trees with how many new spots there are in Philly but this Korean inspired bakeshop is worth a visit! Cute atmosphere, a few tables outside and a few seats inside and a case full of super interesting and delicious sweet and savory baked goods you've never seen anywhere else. Everything I've tried has been delicious, from the doenjang cinnamon bun to the gochujang scallion cheese bun, kinako sesame cookie, lemon curd madeleine, and the kimchi ricotta tart. Every time I go I have to restrain myself from getting too many things and remind myself that I can come back. I got a chili pepper based cookie, Black Forest sesame cake, lemon cookie, earl grey tea based pastry, mushroom and bulgolgi pastry, Black Forest like raspberry? Based tart with ?black sesame special. Love the combinations they go for. I will go out on a limb and say that I wish the flavors were bolder but I don't think some people would like that. I would totally come back. The chili didn't come out for me until after I finished the cookie and I didn't taste much of the other Korean added ingredients to the various pastries. Maybe it's my tongue or I just like things too strong. The curry puff pastry I had was incredible. Black sesame cake looked very tempting as well. I think this spot is maybe a bit too popular for the bakery size. It looks peaceful in photos but it's actually very busy. The shop interior was cheery and welcoming with lots of blonde wood and plants. The seating situation was unfortunate. This will be a great summer/ spring spot to visit when they have the outdoor chairs. In winter it's only 4 indoor chairs, right by the door/line to pay - if you do manage to snag a seat you'll be frozen from the constant door opening and stressed out by the line of people anxiously checking if you've finished your pastry. I don't think I've ever had 10 people just watching me eat before. I also had the banana matcha latte which was fantastic with a fresh banana in it. The barista was too generous with my matcha shot and I got the caffeine jitters a bit later. Not sure how many grams was in my latte but it felt like over 4 or a more caffeinated blend than I'm used to. read more

Very cute lil bakery. More of a takeout spot- there's only 3 or 4 seats by the window. The gochujang scallion cheese bun is one of the yummiest things I've ever eaten. Too many good things to say about this cute lil cafe, delicate welcoming interior. There was no a single item we got that we didn't like: black sesame cake, pistachio lime cake, coffee injeolmi streusel cake, pocket lies were all 100. We actually had to come back for the scallion gochujang and caramel dwenjang buns because they were already sold out as their best sellers so we had to wait for the next batch. The lady at the front kindly fulfilled our request to have one of each flavor set aside for us to come back and pickup in another hour, really appreciate it! This shop has so many unique and intentionally curated flavors stemming from the owners Korean American origin. AAHHHH I am thrilled that this long-awaited bakery is finally open in Graduate Hospital! The interior is stunning but where Seaforest shines is in the pastry and baked good department. We went later in the day and grabbed a corn and thyme biscuit and a slice of the sweet potato spice cake. Both were perfect in texture/moisture and beautiful. I'm so excited to try their coffee (they serve Caphe Roasters) as well as their other treats, many of which boast Korean-influenced flavor profiles. This spot is definitely filling a hole in the Philly bakery scene + in the neighborhood. Service was sweet and friendly! read more

Such a sweet spot, the coffee is very good and their homemade sweet potato caramel sauce was perfect. All the pastries and cakes we tried were great, will say some of them felt quite small for the price (the mushroom bulgogi pocket pie was tiny at $7, but very tasty), but the coffee cake and earl grey grapefruit squares felt more generously portioned. adorable new korean-inspired cafe by rittenhouse square! my friend and i swung by this cafe sunday afternoon. we were excited to try the korean-inspired pastries, but sadly there weren't that many available. we shared the gochujang cheese scallion bun which was delicious. even though it looked like a cinnamon roll, it was more of a savory pastry. they did have a sweet version that we didn't try. i really wanted to try the kimchi ricotta pockets, but they were sold out. i'll have to swing by earlier, it seems like the pastries are popular! the reason i can't give this spot five stars is that the drinks were subpar. i ordered a hot matcha with vanilla which tasted grainy and bitter despite the vanilla and sweetener. my friend had the vanilla latte which she also did not enjoy. i would not try another drink here. i love how sunlit this cafe is, but it is rather small and there is limited seating by the windows. the workers here were very sweet and happy to answer our questions! read more

Oh, my gosh! Everything here was delicious, both baked goods and the coffee. My son just moved to the neighborhood and I'd heard about this place, so I sent my husband to get some things to try. He came back with--and I'm sure I'm getting the names not quite right--the black sesame velvet cake, gochujang caramel bun, and a coffee cake. He also got himself an iced coffee, which he raved about, and it was just coffee, a splash of milk, and ice. Everything was delicious. The black sesame velvet cake was just the right amount of sweet, and the caramel bun was complex in flavor and really phenomenal. The coffee cake tasted like a really good, traditional coffee cake. It's probably best I didn't go myself or I would have bought one of everything--and might just do that on our next visit. read more
