    Pistachio muffin
    Arlene B.

Service was great, but unfortunately this is my second time trying this place and again my pastry I got the pistachio muffin and it was stale and hard when I cut it in half. My friend tried an iced latte and she said it was ok. I did get a refund on my muffin i couldn't even finish eating it. The girl was really nice and understanding. The muffin looked yummy tho

    Citrus croissant

I have lost my sense of taste and smell (not COVID-related), so my review is based mostly on my overall experience. During my visit, I had a citrus croissant and an iced almond milk latte. I chose the citrus croissant because I can sometimes taste citrus notes, so I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, the flavor didn't come through, and the filling-to-dough ratio was low, which was disappointing... but due to my condition don't take my word for it on the flavor! The main reason for my three-star rating are the fruit flies. There were so many that my friend didn't even want to order. I only ordered because I didn't see them in the ordering area, it was when I sat down that I realized how problematic it was. Throughout our visit, we were constantly swatting them away until it became too annoying to stay. Aside from that, the place is cute, and I made a friend, so it wasn't a total bummer. However, I wish they would address the flies.

    Pistachio Mousse cake

I have been really looking forward to trying them since I first saw the pictures of their pastries. They all look so pretty. I tried the Pistachio mousse which has really soft texture and the Pistachio flavor really comes through. My husband got the Passion fruit mousse and I thought it was okay - it is almost like you expect that sweet and tangy flavor so it is not really a surprise to the taste buds. We also got the cold Rose and Taro lattes. I wasn't particularly impressed by either because the espresso overpowered both the Rose and Taro flavors - I think it those two taste much better in a Milk Tea format.

Mint and lemon refresher - sooo gross tastes like mouthwash

Only one worker and terrible drinks. We wandered into this cafe thinking it looked cute and were extremely disappointed. The only reason this place doesn't have 1 star is because they have ample seating and a restroom, which can be hard to find in many cafes. There was one person working to both take all the orders and make the drinks, and it was relatively busy with a fairly steady stream of people coming in. Because of this, it took 20 minutes for our drinks, which were just syrup, seltzer water, and ice. He also wasn't friendly at all, but I wouldn't be either if I had his job. I can't really fault the employee for this since he was running the entire place, but it led to one of us being late for a meeting and was overall frustrating. In addition to the ridiculous wait, the drinks were awful. In particular, the lemon and mint refresher. I was expecting a lemon water with some mint leaves on top, but instead it had some blue syrup that tasted exactly like mouth wash. It felt like something that I wasn't supposed to swallow. I've never thrown out a drink before since drinks are so expensive now, but after about a quarter of this cup I couldn't do it and had to dump it out. Do not come here, there have to be better places on the blocks nearby.

Amazing drinks, selections of desserts and ambiance. Came a few times while passing by, and each time, I enjoyed everything I got! ;) I have to come back to try their breakfast sandwiches and their fruity drinks because all I order is their Ube Latte. And their ube latte tastes so authentic. None of the artificial ube taste! Def recommend checking out this super cute shop

Super clean inside! I got the matcha latte which could use more matcha, a bit milky. The ube muffin was moist and unique. Service is quick and attentive.

The food was very pretty and delicious! The workers were also nice. No complaints! I will definitely be coming back.

Super cute cafe that recently opened in Fishtown. I've been to the South Philly location as well. This review is for the cake since I did not order drinks this time. I purchased a passion fruit cake and it was delicious! It was soo pretty, presentation gets an A++ . My asian parents who constantly complain that every cake is too sweet actually really enjoyed it. It is a little pricey for how much cake you get but it was able to feed at least 8 people. I think I got a small cake and it cost around $45 not including tax. I ordered online and the pick up process was smooth. Defintely will be back!

The service the vibe the pastry's and drinks all tie well as the perfect gift for yourself. Love this place it's actually a gem. They have this lychee refresher drink that slaps all the teas and coffees I've had here have all been great and the pastries are amazing. Don't sleep on cake & joe

Chocolate mousse, who moved my cheese, matcha light cake
    Julie K.

The layout and seating inside is nice! Who moved my cheese is a unique taste & experience of just simply.... cheese. I would say it's a one-time purchase. Matcha light cake was super clean in that what you would think would be a vanilla frosting actually tastes like nothing and dilutes the chocolate and matcha flavors. Texture was nice though flavors were lacking. Chocolate mousse was a decent chocolate mouse with a crunchy bottom. The highlights were the refresher drinks! I hear good things about their coffee so maybe I'll try that out with some food and avoid the pastries next time.

The drive down was easy, not too much traffic which was good. In the distance we could see the building and me and my mom both got excited. We are freaks for cakes and sweets and we were already talking about what other goodies we plan to buy when we get there. As soon as we stepped foot in the Bakery- we were hit with the sweet scents of cakes, pies, cookies, donuts, butter cakes and other goodies. Man oh man what a wonderful smell. It was packed with patrons buying their sweets for the day/weekend. We only waited a few minutes before we were helped and greeted by a sweet smile. The workers there do an awesome job with getting the lines down and still have a smile on their face as the place gets busier and busier. (I love that about Stocks- service is always great). We picked up our cake and ended up getting a few donuts cause I never had them from there before, we got a couple danish's, and a butter cake plus a half a pound of cookies including both butter and sugar with sprinkles and cherries, jelly and chocolate with walnut and molasses crunch which were like ginger snaps/spiced wafers. We ended up spending a pretty good amount of money but it was really worth it. If you are ever in this area- you must stop in and grab some goodies to take home. It will not disappoint. This bakery has been consistent with the taste for years and years and I honestly been coming for over 30 years and still love it. It's an old time charm that I hope stays around forever. If the neighborhood continues to change I hope the one thing that stays the same is Stocks bakery. 5 stars across the board for Stocks.

The bagels were fresh and soft with the little bit of tanginess expected from bagel dough, and the additional flavor from the everything seasoning and cheddar blended with the cream cheese well. Cinnamon roll was also softer than expected with just the right amount of icing, like an upgrade from the classic Cinnabon roll. Focaccia was moist and flavorful, great for sharing at my family party. Didn't get to taste pretzel because it was for my boyfriend. Tip 1: Come here before 9! I came too late at 10am one day and everything was already sold out. Kettle Black fans are BIG fans! In warmer months, people might start lining up at 7:30 just before opening at 8 for the best stuff. The second time I came, I rolled up at 8:45 to find a long but reasonable line. Like, maybe a 15 min wait to get inside. Some items (everything cheddar bagel and pretzel bun) were sold out, but many items were still in stock. Tip 2: Get specialty cream cheese. I got a bacon cheese pepper cream cheese, which had thick chunks of bacon mixed throughout and it was much better than expected thanks to the meatiness. There typically aren't sandwiches like lox bagels available. Tip 3: Highly recommend the hot coffee. It's their own blend that they get from a specialty roaster and it's got this mellow flavor without being bitter or sour. I needed to put in extra effort to get here, so I wouldn't come in every week. But it's a nice treat every other month. Other notes: Staff was very accommodating and patient, seemed happy to be there, and gave me great advice. Not a place to sit and eat, more of a grab-and-go.
