Instead they deflect matters to their vendors using "customer service" representatives that are not empowered problem solvers who prefer to blame manufacturers rather than build customer relations & future sales revenues from repeat business. The showroom has a number of things to look at but nothing compared to the Master Guide book, on the counter. Most everything in the Master Guide is available. Stay clear of AM Leonard for your gardening needs. They have items which are made by them - for example telescope arms with saws and pruners, but they are not use-able together. So they want you to buy a separate set of telescope arms for the pruner. Although many other manufacturers have adapters to ensure the interconnectivity of their items, AM Leonard doesn't. Then, when you want to return something, they don't pay for postage (which turns out to be half of what they are willing to reimburse.) Then, when I was trying to get an authorization code to return the pruning head that doesn't fit their telescopic arm, they charged my CC for gloves which I did not order. There are too many other options for gardening needs. No need to add frustration to what should be a pleasurable activity. read more

Ordered on sale item 12/26. Waited reasonable time and no tracking number, no communication, nothing. Texted them. They said weather was bad and shipping delayed. They sent a "tracking number" but by 1/13 (18 days later) still no product. Called today on 1/13. They said they are shipping tomorrow. What??? I actually wondered if the company was legit. We will see. They sent a new invoice saying i owe money but my paypal was charged back on 12/26. Very disappointed. Update: I was not charged twice. Finally received the loppers. Well built and work well for intended purpose. I will say that once AML was aware of lost shipment, they shipped the tool overnight. Credit due for the effort. read more

I bought an Echo CS590 chainsaw from A.M. Leonard. Upon receiving it, I was unable to easily get it started. I pulled the starter cord over 75X and finally got it started. After using it for about 30 minutes, I shut it off, but wanted to use it again later that day. After pulling the started cord about 100X without success, I gave up. I contact AML and asked to return it. They rejected my request and told me to take it to an Echo service center (one they recommended). I did that, but as soon as the service center determined I had not bought the CS from them, they told me they would have to charge me regardless of what they found or did. They managed to get it started. I managed to leave with $125 less dollars in my pocket. I asked AML for reimbursement for these charges, given I had no other option. Again, AML refused. Despite numerous email exchanges, they still refuse to budge. So, how would you react if you bought a new car (spent more money on that car than ever before) and after a day or two, it would not run? And then the dealership says, oh yeah, it's needs to go in for service. Not a comforting scenario, is it? As I said, given AML would not accept a return of a brand-new product, I had no other option that follow their direction and take it to a service center. So, the good price I originally got on it was negated by the additional out of pocket expense I incurred. 3 strikes against A.M. Leonard. read more

Multiple items were ordered on the exact same order via Amazon yet this is the only one with the wrong address. All the other items were delivered to my home. This is not an error on my part, and doesn't seem to be an Amazon error either. Thoroughly look through all the reviews from this company before ordering. I wish I had. Ordered 2 machettes and 2 sheathes as first purchase from them May 12, 2020. I received confirmation of payment email. They immediately sent sheathes. Then...nothing. For 2 &1/2 months. I called twice. They stalled. Birthdays passed. No answer on phone so I emailed request for refund and threat. They processed my refund, then they had the balls to charge me the next day after they looked and found my order. 2020 practices? Is this the new normal? Not for me. I bought a temporary fence from AM Leonard but the fence they sent me was not the same product I paid for. On their website, they feature a fence that you can clearly see through and I wanted to buy it to keep our dogs out of the garden. But the product they sent me was very thick with small oval openings, and when we stood it up we couldn't see anything in the garden. I emailed with them and told them I was returning it and that I wanted an immediate refund. One of the employees said she has the same fence in her yard and all I have to do is pull it and stretch it and we'd be able to see through it. Nonsense. I demanded a full refund and I received it. Why do merchants argue with customers? Arguing with us just makes things worse. read more

I ordered an "in stock" fencing from AM Leonard that was listed to ship in 1-2 days. Online tracking system doesn't work - so repeatedly tried to reach via phone. Day 10 I finally reach a person and was told item was not in stock and "didn't know when they would receive from their supplier and be able to ship to me. Drop shipment was not an option." I cancelled my order. Several days later I received a drop shipment from the supplier. Over the last 10 days I have repeatedly contacted AM Leonard to arrange a return and have been told they would "get back to me with details." read more

For years I used only AM Leonard. I trusted them with the price. I have just realized their prices on equipment I purchased was sky high and could have been purchased for much less elsewhere. But what really hurt me is I spent 50 or 60 thousand dollars in 10 years and last October I called to have them to replace a product I never used except for one time and it had a life long warranty, It was an AM Leonard labeled product. I ordered greenhouse plastic to protect and cover frames I'd built over raised garden beds. I told them I was racing a frost and had to confirm availability and ability to ship the day of order. They put me on hold while they checked with the warehouse as to availability and with the "supervisor" to OK same day shipping. That was a Tuesday. I had planned to install the plastic on the weekend. It did not come. On Monday following, they called to tell me "Sorry, no plastic." They said it like it was the most normal thing in the world and that I should be cool with it. I reminded them of the conversation, where we supposedly checked out everything and got an OK." They actually gave the lame answer: "You've got to understand the way our warehouse works." I told them understanding THEIR BUSINESS is definitely NOT MY JOB, but their job; and that that had failed miserably and are unprofessional and unreliable. Don't count on them. Stay Away from AM Leonard! Wow!What a disappointment. I purchased a product based on their photo and description. When it arrived via UPS, I immediately saw that the product had not been properly assembled in China. It was a completely useless gardening "tool." I called and explained this to the "Customer Service" rep on the phone. She told me that they would be happy to take it back, that I would have to pay return shipping, but they would refund me when they received it. Today a "Customer Service" rep informed me that they had received the item, and that I would not be receiving a refund for the return shipping. I paid MORE for the return shipping than I did for the tool! I could have kept the pathetic little Chinese-built gardening tool, torn it apart, and rebuilt it. Instead, I spent $35 dollars to send it back and have nothing to show for it. The 'Customer Service" rep was completely uninterested in my complaint. I received a catalog from A.M. Leonard on Friday March 23, 2018. The catalog stated there would be free shipping on orders of $99.00 and above. I placed an order later that night for $711.41, and received an email from an administrative assistant that shipping charges of $217.25 would apply. I canceled the order, and look forward to working with a garden supply company that does not mislead potential customers to increase sales. read more

A little over 2 years ago I bought 2 coils of soaker hose. One was just fine but the other kept developing leaks that would spray instead of just drip slowly. I had repaired many sections of the hose and then gave up and decided to just throw it away. I contacted customer service mostly just to inform them thinking it had been a long time since my purchase. Much to my satisfaction they are now sending me a replacement that had not even asked for! So happy just I question and a couple of pictures later my new hose is on it's way! read more

Two of their private label products broke. I spoke to Ashley in customer service months ago. She went through the parts list with me and said she would order new parts and get back to me. Never heard from her. A month later I phoned again and talked again to Ashley. She said she had no record of ever talking to me, went through the parts list again and promised to contact me. Never heard from her. Phoned again, talked to a supervisor Theresa. She said there was no record of my calls. She took the information again and said she would contact me. Needless to say, no call. I was surfing the net to find a better price on Curlex I Blanket to cover my grass seeds so that the birds don't eat them all. Typically the price is around $55-$60 for 4 ft. x 100 ft. I was looking for a better price. AM Leonard has it on-line for $34.99. The product weighs around 3-4 pounds. I saw it at a local garden store and checked out a roll of it myself. AM Leonard has the weight posted at 37 lbs.!!! That makes the shipping cost $27!! This is their way of tricking people into buying it from them at a net price you can get it anywhere else local to you. This place is not reputable and I would not trust buying anything from them on-line. read more
