This is one of my favorite Mexican spots. The green sauce enchiladas are my favorite, in fact so good that I forgot to take a picture of it. Their taco Tuesday deals are great and love their happy hours. Service is always greats and the ambiance is just so cozy.

Delish food, everything fresh, tasty & hot. Wonderful service, Paula was super hospitable, friendly & kind. Amazing ambiance Bad bunny playing 65% of the time!

    Cute lights

Holy moly it was awesome, the food was actually incredible, I ate the cali burrito and the brownie, heavy reccomend! This one server was so freaking cute he was so pretty, and the restaurant has such a cute vibe!

We went for dinner on a Friday and it wasn't too busy so we were seated right away. They have great deals for happy hour so I recommend going for an early dinner. The appetizers and dinner came quickly and it was all excellent. But the real favorite was the ice cream!

Don't sleep on this spot! Cuban/mexican cuisine with amazing fun dishes and great service! I started with a tamarind margarita that was 10/10 (warning: must like sour drinks). Had some chips with three dip choices for appetizers that were great. The corn salsa was delicious. For my main, three hearty ropa vieja quesa tacos (shredded beef with cheese sauce). Crispy and crunchy outside with a rich saucy meat and cheese filling. For dessert, horchata ice cream topped fresh brownie. Service was also 10/10. Got crowded around 7pm on a Tuesday.

I've been waiting to try A-Mari-Mix ever since I saw that they had horchata soft serve and it did not disappoint!! I tried the horchata/chocolate swirl and it was so good! We also shared chips and salsa, and a smothered burrito with chicken. Definitely worth trying out!

I've really enjoyed this restaurant ever since they used to be on Coral Way. They have $2 taco Tuesday and a really cool horchata ice cream. RumChata was also good.

    Weekend Brunch French Toast

Good Mexican food by a Cuban family and thus, there are slight Cuban twists to some of the dishes, but they stay fairly true to the original cuisine. Restaurant was originally located in Westchester area (97th ave and Coral way) and moved here a few years back - this is a much nicer and bigger location. KEY NOTES: CLOSED on MONDAYS and have a WEEKEND BRUNCH until 3pm with a choice of $6 mimosas in 4 flavors - the guava is my preferred. Mimosas are OK, neither here neither there. All of their food is decent. The queso fundido is good - add the chorizo. The enchiladas are good too. However, I don't like their newest presentation in the skillet with the sides on a separate dish - it's hard to work the cutlery in the tight skillet. Originally this dish came in a larger oval platter. I ask for it to be presented in the original oval platter now whenever I have it. I've not had their tacos, but my guests have and they've found them to be very good in general. For their brunch, the Huevos Rancheros are good, but they apparently make the eggs fully OVERCOOKED even though I specifically asked for them over easy and was told no problem. When I saw them overcooked, I flagged another guy/server passing by who said that's how they make them and couldn't promise otherwise. What? The redo came did end up coming out more runny. My server was very nice - they all generally are nice except the guy I flagged (who I've seen there almost ever time before, but has never been my waiter). The girls are very nice as well; I believe they are the owner's daughters. For dessert, I've had the churros, which are better than in most places but are a too greasy and not sweet enough for my taste. I asked for additional caramel sauce to dip for sweetness, but it's too synthetic for myself to be enjoyable, which is unfortunate because the rest of the food seems to be made with decent quality ingredients. They offer a dessert with a soft serve in cherry flavor, which our very waiter very sweetly took the initiative to bring a sample of for tasting so we could decide on it, and while it tasted OK, it seemed made with the left over liquid in which you preserve maraschino cherries - like someone had the idea: let's not waste this syrup, we can use it to flavor a soft serve. The brunch French Toast is their take on a Mexican French Toast if there was one; made with Mexican tortillas in lieu of, well, French toasts. It was OK, taste was good, and most people will probably love it, but I prefer something that has French toast in it if you are going to call it that given that the toast is the key item of the dish. If you order the French Toast you also need to asks for forks to eat it. A restaurant trigger of mine is how few restaurants understand how to properly plate desserts with a dessert fork vs a dessert spoon - I don't know why everyone associates desserts with a spoon. And worse yet in this case, a soup spoon, not even a smaller dessert spoon. Only soft, creamy, liquid, delicate or layered desserts desserts (i.e. puddings, mousses, custards, ice cream, parfaits, etc.) are to be served with a 'dessert' spoon for easily scooping their soft textures. Firmer desserts with a solid texture, like cakes, pies, tarts, cobblers, etc. are to be served with a 'dessert' fork. Fork tines are the only part of the cutlery suited to cut through and lift these denser desserts without tearing the dessert apart. I know this is an overkill rant for a Mexican restaurant, but try eating a crunchy brittle tortilla (90% of the dessert) with a huge SOUP SPOON ‍ Anywho, to close, this place has good food, good service and good prices. You won't be disappointed :)

    Smothered Burrito
    Alejandro S.

Wanted a burrito for dinner and definitely chose the right place. The smothered burrito is one of the best burritos I've ever had. 12/10 coming back just for this. For dessert, the pastel de elote with horchata on top was absolutely amazing - couldn't believe it was the first time I was trying that. Adriana our server was extremely kind and helpful. Feels like we found a new spot in Kendall that we love!

Love the atmosphere! Felt welcomed from the second I walked through the door! Highly recommend. Everything that I ordered was delicious. The horchata ice cream, was a yummy treat.

Been here a few times (old location as well). Food is solid- had the ropa vieja tosones and cubanito tacos as well as a homemade limeade that was really good BUT the star of the show was the horchata icecream. Wow! I ordered the regular but they have an afogato style and brownie concoction which I will be back for. Service is attentive, laid back no pressure.

Yummy Mexican spot. Food was tasty and portions were good. Came for their Taco Tuesday ($2/taco) and they were delicious! The Esquites (corn) appetizer was amazing. Smothered Burrito was huge!Enchiladas were good and came with a side of rice and beans. Horchata ice cream was great! I do wish they served chips and salsa, it's usually a thing at Mexican places but this place does not do that. I also wish they had Birria tacos on their menu. Service was good, our waitress was friendly. Ambiance was nice and the place has a good amount of space and cute decorations.

    Chicken Fajitas (avocado add on)
    Rachel G.

Overall, good experience. My husband and I went to this restaurant on Saturday around 4 pm, there was no wait. My husband got some sangria which he enjoyed. We got the chips and salsa to start... while they were good, the serving was very small. For entrees my husband got the tostada which was well sized for the price and I got the chicken fajitas, I added on guacamole as a side. Delicious, really enjoyed my fajitas! The seating area and bathroom was clean, however, they were out of toilet paper.

Parking was a bit challenging due to the limited number of spaces, but once we walked inside, the experience more than made up for it. We were warmly greeted by Carolina, who also became our server. She was incredibly patient and took her time walking us through the menu, explaining each dish and how everything is prepared. Her dedication to customer satisfaction truly stood out, and we hope management recognizes what an asset she is. Carolina proudly shared that every item on the menu is made in‑house, and it absolutely shows. My wife ordered the Quesadilla de Pollo with a side of Arroz Mexicano and couldn't stop talking about the exceptional flavors. I chose the Tostada al Pastor, a small Tortilla Soup, and a side salad. Everything was delicious, but the Tortilla Soup was the star of the meal--a perfect example of why in‑house preparation matters. Since we're not from the area, we weren't sure where to go for lunch, and we truly lucked out choosing Don Maguey--and having Carolina as our server. Thank you, Carolina. When I looked 20 minutes after at my credit card statement read I had been charged $77 and change pending a potential tip on top of that, even with tip included it is still over approximately $7 what I signed off for. We called to determine the prices of each individual meal and "the manager" was stumbling to tell us the prices for everything. Even with the fake numbers that were given to us it still didn't add up correctly. I remember the prices for the 3 meals my family and I ordered and I remember what the check said. I let it be because maybe they need more than I do. As for the food, I'm born and raised on the border of Mexico and although I must say it does scream authenticity especially on appearance the meat is bland, and that "Mexican rice" is by far the worst tasting rice I've had. For a casual person that likes Mexican food you may like it, but if you know what you're tasting you will not. Also, they didn't have 4 different things on the menu available ultimately leading me to have to go with my 5th option. It is very expensive for what it is, and even more expensive when your waitress manipulates the system.

We went here between January 27 & February 6/2026. La Potranca has five Florida locations, but this cantina does not feel like a chain. Authentic sabor Mexicano with an excellent friendly staff. Family friendly & handi-able accesible from the parking lot. This location gets full by 7pm but there is extended service & seating in the common covered courtyard. Plenty of parking in this strip mall location. Service is excellent, fast, & great choices of tacos & drinks. You can choose from 14 different meats/cuts for your tacos, including birria & al pastor. Bow to the taco! Also gringas, vampiros, & burritos. They have bowls (they're BIG) & brunch. p.s. try the churros with 3 dipping sauces. Drinks are extra special here. The clamato & beer cocktail is very unique. Served in a Tajin rimmed large mug, with lime & a tamarind wrapped straw. Excellante! Also a variety of margaritas served in whimsical glasses & their three house cervazas (beers) on draft. La Potranca pays homage to iconic singer & actor Vincente Fernandez "King of Ranchera". Check out the interesting connection with the staff or online. The staff here is excellent. Very helpful when navigating the menu. Very friendly. True professionals. Both are always very friendly and attentive. This time we decided to sit in the dining room because we were a group of three and had a lot to talk about. The place has 4 TVs and we were able to enjoy the France vs Spain match. We all ordered La Tropical Draft beer, a light, smooth, and very refreshing blonde. In total we had 16 beers . We shared nachos with grilled steak, which were very good (they pour the melted cheese right at the table). We also ordered tripa tacos well toasted (that's the technique) as we requested, and they came out excellent. Note: They have different promotions or offers depending on the day, not a regular happy hour variety, so it's good to be aware of that. The restaurant offers a good variety of 8 salsas: Sirloin, Chips, Guacamole, Verde, Vicente, Pastor, Chilanga, and Asada. Good atmosphere, pleasant service, and tasty food. We'll definitely keep coming back.

When you walk in, you place your order and pay for it and take a table number. You need to find your own table. Our service was pretty quick, despite how busy the restaurant was. My cold brew was very good and a nice start to the meal. Our guacamole came next and it was nicely styled with pomegranate, cheese and cilantro on top. Yum! The real star of the show for me was this unassuming looking House Club Sandwich that was to die for. Seriously ... it was so good. I ordered mine without the ham, and it was divine! I've been going to Koko since it opened, and until now I've always had great experiences…read more Unfortunately, my recent visit during the Mexico World Cup match was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a long time. Before going, we called the restaurant to ask if they would be showing the World Cup games, and we were told they would be showing all of them. Based on that, we expected a good viewing experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There aren't enough TVs, many of the views are obstructed, and we actually had to move to the bar just to see part of the game. Even then, the music was so loud that we couldn't hear the match at all. When we asked the manager about it, he told us that ownership's instructions were to play music instead of the game's audio. That was especially surprising considering this is a Mexican-owned restaurant and the match was a Mexico World Cup game. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. To be fair, the restaurant was only about half full, so this wasn't a situation where the staff was overwhelmed by a packed house or unusually heavy demand. I was there with two female friends. I ordered a martini while my friends simply asked for water. The bartender reacted as if asking for water was somehow an inconvenience. We weren't even served chips and salsa until we repeatedly waved down members of the staff and specifically requested them. The bartenders consistently ignored us. My friends waited nearly 20 minutes before anyone came back so they could order their martinis. We later ordered guacamole and the Leña skirt steak. The guacamole arrived promptly, but the steak never did. When we asked another bartender to check on it, he looked in the system and told us there was no food order entered at all. This was unbelievable because the original bartender had described the dish, asked how we wanted the steak cooked, and appeared to take the order. He simply never entered it. When we complained to the manager about the missing food, he told us the kitchen was already closed but that he would "make an exception" and have the steak prepared for us. That response really upset me because this wasn't us asking for special treatment--it was the restaurant trying to correct its own mistake. I told him to simply cancel the order. He then said not to worry because he wouldn't charge us for it, as if not charging for a meal would somehow make up for the experience we had just endured. I declined the offer, but he responded by saying he would bring it anyway and that if we didn't want it, we could just leave it there. To me, that response was even more dismissive and completely missed the point. Throughout the evening, the bartenders were inattentive, dismissive, and consistently rude. Their attitude completely overshadowed what had always been one of my favorite restaurants in Coconut Grove. By halftime, we had simply had enough. Instead of continuing what should have been a fun night, we decided to leave the restaurant and go home, where we watched the rest of the Mexico match in the comfort of my home. Sadly, that turned out to be the best part of the night. I'm writing this review because I know Koko is capable of much better. My previous visits have always been enjoyable, which made this experience even more disappointing. However, if you're planning to watch a World Cup match there, I would strongly recommend choosing another venue. While they may tell you they'll be showing the game, the viewing experience is poor, the game audio is replaced with loud music, and based on our visit, the service was, without question, the worst I've experienced there since the restaurant opened. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because Koko has always been one of my favorite restaurants, and I'd like to be able to recommend it again. Unfortunately, after this experience, I simply can't.

From the moment we arrived, we were seated immediately. Our server, Francisco, was exceptional, and Exantus, the server assistant, was equally impressive. They worked together like a well-oiled machine. Exantus constantly made sure our table was cleared of empty plates and glasses, and he kept the table dry by wiping away the condensation from our drinks. With the Miami heat, that little extra attention made a big difference. Francisco provided outstanding service. He was friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. He answered all of our questions, offered great recommendations, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The drinks were fabulous--we enjoyed several different margaritas with a variety of flavors, and every one was delicious. Having stayed till closing of two music week events the prior to evenings, this was in my mind a great recovery meal. Despite the name, this restaurant is not just Mexican, but actually fusion with Uruguayan cuisine. The main courses focused on that area, and the tacos had a lot of exotica such as ear and tongue. Given my preferences, and my stomach, the only basic options that I would get were there Al Pastor and chicken tacos, five dollars each. The menu said that they had alcohol, but apparently not on that week, supposedly for some bureaucratic issue. The tacos were served with just the tortilla and the meat, along with a basket of fixings, such as cilantro and line. No complaints of the food really, the tacos were actually well seasoned and for my taste buds made even better with the hot sauce that left a yummy after burn. When I went to the bathroom, the handle on the door was damaged. Besides that, in the end I was not feeling the place especially that there was a mandatory gratuity.

We were starving and ordered quickly, got our food after just a few short minutes along with two trays of sauces and fixings. The quesabirria was INSANELY delicious, and the tacos were too. We enjoyed a glass of maracuya which is always so nice. Friendly and quick service on top of yummy food makes it an easy restaurant to keep going back to.

I have heard so much around this place and I can confidently say it lives up to the hype!…read more Finding parking nearby is a bit tricky as it is only street parking and there's only outside dining available. The music selection is fire though and I was jamming out the whole time while waiting for my food. I complimented them on the music selection and they mentioned the owner is dominican and puerto rican which explained the great music selection. I was helped out by Adrian and his service was helpful in finding what dishes to order. I took my food to go and it was piping hot, definitely made fresh to order which I enjoyed. The nachos were what I was most eager to try as they are all the rage on social media. They lived up to the hype and that nacho cheese is absolute gold. I love that it's served in a pizza box. It just makes it iconic. It travels well and everything was still hot when I got home. The Al Pastor taco was just okay, nothing to write home about but now the steak burrito was really really good. I love that they don't have rice in their burritos and instead replace it with potatoes, which is absolutely delicious. They give two different types of salsas with your order plus limes and the green salsa is unreal. Add it to everything for a flavor boost! All in all this place is fire and if you're craving nachos, this is definitely the place you should come to get your fix!

Ever since I tried their steak Caesar salad I've been obsessed. That was my usual from there for 5 years. 2 nights ago we ordered from uptown and when we got our order I was so angry I didn't want to even eat my food. 1. Steak literally looked like wet dog food 2. They no longer do the frisée salad instead It's just plain old Romaine lettuce 3. For some reason they stopped giving their salsa now which was the highlight of my order 4. The container is so small and the egg was so hot that it melted all the Parmesan cheese and it was just a nasty glob 5. The eggs were so over boiled that they had that grey tint on the yolk and smelled horrible 6. 2 salads cost almost $50 so jokes on us Never again!!! I've literally banned uptown from our house. The audacity to charge so much for a mid salad topped with nasty dog food looking "steak"
