Nails - 8/10 Service - 8/10 I visited this shop today after scheduling a mani+pedi appointment yesterday. Upon entering I was immediately greeted and seated. Within five minutes my pedicure began and the nail tech paused after shaping and again after painting one nail to confirm at both instances it was what I wanted. I appreciated that. My toes look great. After my pedi, I waited about 10-15minutes for my dip powder manicure. Lisa was my nail tech and she was super kind. She did a dip French tip technique I haven't seen yet so points for creativity and efficiency. Overall my nails look great and I'd come back.

Not even length you can see middle finger is now shorter than my small finger stent are not even !

First I told her don't cut my mail I want to keep them long but she filed them to became too short ( her resin was my thumb nail is short ) right now they are not even same length !!!! They might be ok for regular manicures or gel but they are so bad with Deep . She didn't clean my previous one completely so it make uneven nail !!! No I have bumpy nail and worth part there is little color on my skin she try to cut my skin !!! I

A Nail Today is my go-to nail spot in Oakland! I've been going for about a year and a half, and it's a no-frills, quality place. The women who work there are very kind and receptive to whatever nail look I've dreamed up that day. Plus, you can't beat $30 for a gel manicure! I can get them to last for three weeks with no chips at all. I recommend bringing cash to pay them with, especially for the tip.

Being new to the city and in need of a nail tech I came across a nail today, and I WILL NEVER COME BACK. I scheduled an appointment for a full set and pedi, was on time, and still had to wait 35 mins before anyone began my service. The lady that did my pedicure didn't really speak to me but I assumed it might've been a language barrier, and left it at that. When it was time for my full set I showed the manager a picture that I got from this Yelp page of their previous work that I wanted. At this time she was from phone call to phone call, and really wasn't paying much attention to what I was saying or showing her. Aware of this, I grabbed her attention and I asked directly if the design I wanted could be done, she said yes. As she began to build the acrylic she said she could not do the style anymore because of discoloration on my middle finger. I said ok, I'll need to look for another design, and she immediately got irritated and began to complain about her time, wasting her products, and my "lack of preparation". I was absolutely mortified, shocked, and embarrassed by her reaction; and other customers began to look in concern, which only made me even more uncomfortable especially being the only black person in the building. In an effort to remove the discomfort I quickly asked for a solid yellow polish and showed her the a picture of the color I liked. She said she had the color and began my nails in silence (with me), grumbles, tuggs, lack of care, and tons of phone calls. At that point my patience and consideration began to dwindle and my embarrassment turned to irritation, and then it got worse. She proceeded to apply a yellow that was nowhere near the color I asked for. So I immediately stopped her, and changed it to a green that was nearby and requested one nail design. Now we both have an attitude, but she finished. I was not pleased with the polish as some were lumpy, and I was charged the same rate that I was quoted for the original design but at that time I couldn't care less because I was OVER IT ALL and just desperately wanted to get out of there. I could not believe how I was handled. I honestly still can't believe it, because it was truly unwarranted and everyone else that came after me appeared to be handled with care. The level of unprofessionalism, the lack of attention, nasty disposition, lack of BASIC customer service, and audacity I experienced after wasting 35 mins of my time at my "scheduled" appointment was unacceptable. For those reasons, I do not recommend this salon to anyone. They need serious work, a secretary for their calls, and real training on customer appreciation, flexibility,and customer service. Since that experience I have not tried another nail salon in Oakland, does anyone have any recommendations for good salons or nail techs with great customer service in the area.

I had an appointment for 1pm. I was running late, so i called to inform them. I told them I'd be there by 1:15pm latest, and the person on the other end said "ok see you then". I arrived to the salon no later than1:05 pm and was told to sit down and wait. There were only 2 ladies there and they were already working on clients. I get it, sometimes you have to wait. But I didn't get any service till 1:45pm. I was also told it will just be "10 mins" (see attached pic) She had an attitude the entire time i was getting a full set and was not open to me expressing any of my preferences when it came to shape or color. I was a bit unsure of the color I wanted and it was a clear that that annoyed her. I ended up with an awful set that took 2 hours. You can even see the thickness and unevenness of the acrylic in the pics attached. Very disappointed.

I came here to get a shellac manicure and regular pedicure. It ended up being $60 for both (which is a reasonable price) - but please, save yourself the money and wait to go elsewhere. I sat down to get my manicure and the color that I had in mind, they didn't have. At first, they tried to find it as well, which was kind. When it was clear they didn't have it (which is totally fine), I felt very rushed to pick another color. They ended up pretty much picking the color for me. In addition, she was kind of pushy to do this very basic design which I wasn't crazy about, and it is my fault for not speaking up then. The rest of the experience was fine until I was done and looked at my nails. It was not good. The polish was on my cuticle on some nails and very far from my cuticles on others. Some of my cuticles were looking rough as if they were not just tended too, in addition to lint or little dust in the polish as well. Even that wasn't the worst part- In my opinion it was their response when I brought it to their attention that was most offensive- her response was "don't bite your nails". First off, I don't bite my nails. Secondly, that is an incredibly defensive response without taking any responsibility- poor customer service. She then grabbed a file and roughly filed along my cuticle (this did not help). I'm usually pretty agreeable but at this point, I was upset by their response and asked if I could return after my 4 day trip if they lift or chip while I'm gone (which I anticipate they will), to which I didn't get a clear response. I have posted photos below- they just don't look like they were JUST done. Update: Sure enough- my nails chipped after 3 days. However, I did also get Covid, so I did not attempt to come in for a repair. Also, my cuticle became really inflamed from the filing as well.

Honestly I've had better experiences getting my nails done. This was my first time getting my nails done post-COVID quarantine and everyone was nice but my full set was not. I got a full set and deluxe pedicure and I showed the lady (I think she was the owner) what I wanted and she did her best but there was no finesse. I had to ask her to fix quite a few nails and I feel like the way the glitter was put on could've been done with more precision. Also the acrylic didn't go all the way to my cuticles, some were lopsided and when I left it looked like I'd had my nails for over a week instead of just getting them done. My pedicure was fine but again I have had better plus the lady who did my toes was going in with the clippers and made me bleed on one of my toes. I will not be returning to this place nor will I recommend anyone else to do so.

The worst experience I've ever had at a nail salon. she filed my gel off with an electric drill bit and then proceeded to file the top 5 layers of my nails off as well. All with a dirty ass nail file and a used buffer. She damaged my nails so severely it hurts to type this right now. Don't ever go here.

I hadn't been here in months but I decided to come here because they were able to get me in on short notice, which I appreciated. I showed the tech a picture of the acrylic set I wanted, as I had a black tie event to attend the following day. I was looking for a square shape (modified) French tip, which I thought was basic and easy enough to execute well. I ended up having to correct the nail tech and point her in the right direction, I pulled out the reference photo multiple times for clear direction and she still was not able to execute the French tip set I wanted. The lines were crooked and sloppy and the shape was to wide for my fingers. When I asked the nail tech if she could clean up the white tip for a smoother "oval" line, she said no and that it was okay. When I said that it was not okay and the tips look wide and lopsided, she just added more while nail polish on the tips. I would give this place another chance if they get more skilled nail techs.

I went in for a dip manicure and removal. I had a layer of dip and a layer of gel from my previous manicure. The woman doing my nails removed the gel but not the dip, she just filed and shaped with it already on. She proceeded to add 3 layers of additional dip without filing anything down so my manicure was extremely thick and the shapes and lengths were all uneven. I told her it was looking pretty thick and asked her to file it down and reshape. She told me there was nothing she could do about it and it was because there was still a layer of dip on my nails from the previous manicure...which she chose not to take off in the beginning. The entire appointment took 50 minutes, it felt extremely rushed. 4 cuticles were bleeding at the end of my manicure. There are bumps and fuzz stuck under the second layer of gel on some of the nails. Im super bummed about my experience here, I've been in search of a new nail salon in this area and was intrigued by the positive reviews for this one. I will not be returning.

My favorite nail salon to go to. Everyone is very friendly and my gel nails always last two to three weeks. The massage chairs are always a plus and are very comfortable. They also play really relaxing music and it tends to be pretty quiet depending on who is inside. My mom and I strictly only come here now. We love how they treat everyone that walks in and try to make everyone feel comfortable. If you're looking for a nice manicure, pedicure that will last you a good two weeks without chipping, this is your place.

I just LOVE Amy!!!! Such superb attention to detail. I live in Brentwood and drive here for her (my nail tech is also in Oakland.) I am NEVER disappointed. My toes are also done extremely well. Even with gel, the coats are solid but not thick! Every queen's dream When my cousin was preparing for her maternity photo shoot, I arranged for two deluxe pedicures here. Again, Amy and T (the owner) were super accommodating and kind. I was able to pay ahead for two people with the confidence in knowing they would be treated with the same respect I am. I love that I never feel rushed, or quite honestly, stereotyped. I am very comfortable doing business here. read more

They are open right now! Only taking one customer at a time with appointment. But I believe nail salons should be allowed to fully open soon. Tee was my nail technician and she was so sweet and meticulous. I got a gel french manicure ($30) with design (extra $5) which is super reasonable for a that area! Everything was very sanitary and clean with lots of precautions. I felt completely safe being in there the whole time. read more

Looks like I did my nails on my own. I asked T to fix one of my broken nails and she said she knew what was best for my nails and then proceeded to passively aggressively give a poor dip powder mani. Literally never coming back. Update: I noticed their tools were a little dirty but felt it was too late to get up and leave. I regret staying because I now have an infected index finger. Not worth 55 dollars. Crying. read more

Horrible service and quality. I went to this nail salon and showed my nail tech a design she said she could do. I noticed she was having an extremely difficult time I suggested another design and she said it was fine. When she finished it was HORRIBLE the lines were bleeding into each other and I hated it, I asked to take off the design and chose a different one from their Yelp page which I assumed someone there would know how to do. She said NO. She wouldn't even attempt to do the design she FORCED me to get a plain coat on my nails, which I told her over and over I did not want. read more

Terrible service. They don't honor appointments. What's the point of making a appointment if they're going to take walk ins before you. I called them to move my appointment from 1pm to 1:15pm. I even let them know I'm coming from work across the street. I asked if it was going to be busy because if it was I would have to try another time. Whoever I spoke to said it wouldn't be a problem since I'm crunched for time. I walked in at 1:18pm out of breath because I ran there and they were busy with no chairs available. Then one for the lady's there had the nerve to tell me I was 5 min late. NO LADY I wasn't. I would give 0 stars if I could. Bad business. read more

TEE is the best, detailed and makes my nails perfect. Gel, acrylic, pedi, designs. She does it all. Kelly did my toes and it looked very nice! I love the way my nails look after coming here. Staff are friendly, pleasant, and always accommodating. Parking can sometimes be a struggle because of its location on Piedmont avenue but all in all it shouldn't take you longer than a few minutes to find a good spot. I love that they have a matching regular color to their gel colors. Huge perk since the last place tried to match me "manually" and I essentially had red toes and pink hands on my vacation. Boo! Strongly encouraged to bring cash for your tipping! Otherwise there's an ATM down the street (on the gas station premises less than a block away) that charges $3.00 with withdraw. read more

I've been coming here for a while and they've usually done a decent job, but I've always thought the owner/manager seemed a bit mean/rude. The last time I went there my gel polish started peeling off in a few days, but because they're close to my house I decided to give them another try. Well today this same owner was rude as heck. I will not be going back. I hope others have a better experience. read more

I do not usually write review... the customer service of this nail shop is so bad I have to write about it. OMG... where should I start! It was a day before Chinese New Year! Also my mother's anniversary of her death. I was trying to relax and mediate to have a better day. I wanted a pedicure or maybe a change color of my manicure. So I called this nail shop for first available appointment: 10:30.... so I have time to run my errands later the morning. I got there about 10:25.. very welcoming and everybody was smiling and cheerful. (At this time, there were only two ladies) I was in a good mood. As I sat down the chair and start soaking my feet about 5 minutes another customer ( SHOP's VIP), which she showed up early per their appointment book (11:00am) But VIP said she had down 10:30... The nail ladies took her and prepare for her pedicure. Less than 10 minutes of my soaking, two more customers came in (wrong nail shop.., but they preferred to stay) The lady that was preparing my pedicure she got SO preoccupied with getting her VIP customer taking care of, and her two dropped in customers, and calling her back up manicurists to come in for her early shift... I WAS BARELY taking care of. While she still pedicuring my toes, she was constant on the phone trying to get someone to come to take care extra clients that just dropped by. With all that in mind..., she said to me " I will be back in TWO minutes" I looked at my clocked.., that two minutes turned out to be more than 10 minutes wait!!!! What the heck!!!! Patiently as I am.., I finally got mad, angry and emotional. As she come back, I said to her ' that was NOT a two minutes wait". I was fuming!!! By this time, my feet was still even done yet.., but the VIP lady with her shellac toes nails taken off already and were painted with her new color. I've been coming here consistently for a few months now, and they are hands down my favorite nail salon in the East Bay. I've been to so many nail salons and none of them compares to A Nail Today when it comes to customer service and quality of work. I believe there are 4 ladies who work there and they are all very kind and sweet. Most of the nail salons I've been to lack in the customer service department due to impolite mannerisms but Tee, Kim (my favorite; she is so sweet), and the other two ladies are always very welcoming and attentive. The older woman who does pedicures is fantastic. She takes her time and gives great massages as well. I see other reviews that customers have had cuts here but that has not happened to me. I always leave with my nails shaped to perfection and my gel manicures are always smooth, even, and lasts for weeks. My regular pedicures even lasts for weeks. Whenever there is an imperfection in their work, they always fix it right away (without you asking) and make sure everything is perfect before you leave. I highly recommend this nail salon! read more

I stopped in Saturday afternoon for a pedicure and was immediately sat upstairs where Theresa started my pedi after finishing up with another customer. My only gripe with my experience is that instead of asking what kind of pedicure I wanted and told the different offerings it was assumed I wanted the basic spa pedi which doesn't come with much. After it was clarified what I wanted the experience was so pleasant. read more

Before I tell my story let me just tell you DO NOT BELIVE THEY DO WALK INS!! Decided to go in on a Saturday morning, just a little after opening. With a last min event I had that day I was needing to get a pedicure and full set. I got seated right away for a pedicure. So I thought great so far so good. Well, my pedicure is sloppy and my nails are not cut evenly. I asked if they can fix my toes and the girl just added another layer or polish. Once I was told my pedicure was done, I waited almost an hour to be able to get my full set. The girl doing my nails seemed to be rushing through and I asked if she can please fix a nail that was not even! She rolled her eyes and said No it looks fine to me and continued doing her thing. Once she was done i was asked to wash my hands and when I returned to the chair my personal stuff was being moved from one station to another. I was told someone else would be doing the color. At this point was already at the nail salon for a little over 2 hours. The lady doing my color apologized for making me wait. However I was already having to pay for more time for the meter. At check out I told the person I'm leaving a $4 tip to be split between both girls. I felt I shouldn't even tip at this point, but it's their jobs and even after a bad experience I didn't feel right not tipping. The only reason why I decided to leave a bad review is because.... Fast forward to just 4 days later and I'm already missing 2 nails! ABSOLUTELY not right! Typically a full set when done right last me almost 3 weeks! NEVER RETURNING. read more

Best nail salon in the Oakland area by far! I've tried several salons in the area since moving here 2 years ago, and this truly is the one with the best service, clean and enjoyable space, and most important of all amazing nail technicians! My nails are always done exactly how I want them and the owner and staff are all very friendly and accommodating. Additionally they're always great about timing, and if they say it'll be 15 min wait it always is. Overall highly recommend! read more

Lee is definitely price gouging, I was over charged for something I didn't ask for, every two weeks I come the price is different, and they always mess up but get upset when you want them to fix it. I will NEVER come to this nail salon again read more

I moved here from the city a couple months ago and I went to A Nail Today based solely off of the high yelp ratings, just hoping for the best...which is exactly what I got. Everyone who works at A Nail Today is kind and attentive. They make sure to not accept too many clients at one time so you never feel like they're trying to hurry through your service or rush you out the door (a problem I find at most salons tbh). Yes, this causes there to be a bit of a wait - even with an appointment - but it is soooo worth it. I personally would rather wait 15 minutes and be serviced by a tech with their full attention on me than get seated immediately and have them do a half assed job.‍ That being said, I cannot emphasize enough how great the service is. They are never pushy or trying to up-sell you to spend more. In fact, their prices are pretty low compared to what I've paid at other salons. For a gel mani and pedi I only pay $60! Also, when I broke a nail (I have natural long nails I wear with gel polish) I called Tee and she immediately fit me into the schedule to fix it. She glued that sucker back together and the nail looks/feels perfect, like it never was broken! Overall, a great salon with great people working to take care of you. read more

Went here with my SIL for quick holiday pedis. It was a great experience from start to finish. This place is SUPER clean and quite cute. Very clean chairs/basins and tools as well. Good color selection although I only looked at regular polish, not the no chip options. The best part is definitely the staff. They are extremely nice and friendly and were really warm and adorable to both of us. I don't live locally but I would definitely go back again if I did. Highly recommend! read more

So unfortunately within a week of me getting my nails done several broke ( my own short nails by the way). They filed them to thin I believe or the gel nail colors they used were cheap and flimsy. They broke all the way up the corners so my regular nail lady had to cut them very short. Never will return here. 4 broken nails has never happened at the same time to me. Too bad because the ladies were friendly. read more

I've lived in Oakland going on two years and it has taken me this long to find a nail salon that I love, but A Nail Today was worth the wait. Things that I love: -Super clean and friendly environment -Friendly, charming staff -Gel colors have matching regular polish colors as well (!!!) -Friendly, charming staff -Great location in Piedmont with West Oakland prices -Friendly, charming staff Did I mention the staff was friendly and charming? I had a little cough when I went in, and I was quickly offered water and a cough drop. I believe the lady who took care of me was named Tee, and she was attentive, didn't make me feel rushed, and did a KILLER job on my nails and toes. She gives great massages, too, and next time I'm going to pay her extra to give me an extra-long foot massage. From what I understand, A Nail Today is under new management, and whatever they changed is definitely for the better. Whatever reviews you see from over a year ago don't reflect the current business. I will be back with all my friends in tow. Thank you!! read more

It's unfortunate I'm having to write this review, because my nails never chip and last for a good while after coming here. But after 10+ times here, it's extremely frustrating when you call ahead to make an appointment but your appointment doesn't start for at least 45 minutes. The lady only spent 20 minutes on my mail , this includes remove my prior nail gel, clean, did not cut my cuticles and only massage my right hand . Service is very sloppy. She is the one who books the appointment for the business. She told me to be there 1:30 pm and they are all busy just keep me waiting for another 30 minutes. Its more like greedy. She looks more like a owner to me and when she tried to trim my nail, she accidentally cut my meat in my middle finger. It bleeds. She didn't even apologize and just rush the whole process of gel nail and rush me out. I would not recommend anyone to this business and I will not return to this shop! read more

I have been a customer at A Nail Today for nearly a year, and I will never return; here's why. The staff at A Nail Today have difficulty listening to customers and taking accountability when they make mistakes. After getting my eyebrows done and noticing they were two completely different shapes, the staff repeatedly told me they were "perfect" and that I needed to leave. Instead of listening to me, they took pictures of my eyebrows and showed other patrons to get them to agree that they were "perfect." The staff walked away from me in the middle of our conversation and told me that they are busy and I must go. In addition to gaslighting me about their inept work, a staff member yelled at me over the phone and talked about me to other staff in front of my face. Sadly, this is not my only experience of their poor hospitality. If you want to be treated rudely, I highly suggest you come here. I can't help but feel if I were a blond, blue-eyed person who fits the niche of Piedmont culture, I would not have received such reprehensive service. read more

#54 Love this nail shop. It was super rainy last Sunday and me and my favorite person were hanging out doing the usual and we decided to run in and get our mani-pedi while the rain passed after lunch. The place was split into two levels, decorated cutely and full of lively technicians. All the chairs up top were filled with patrons; however, there were a few chairs downstairs that could house us while we awaited our technicians for our treatment. The ladies set us up in two big, comfortable chairs with hot (yeah--hot, hot, hot) water for our feet to soak while we waited. My feet were so swollen from my morning run that I was happy to have the boiling hot water relieving them. I watched the colors change in the basin, the bubbles parade around my feet--all while programming the massage chair for my companion and myself. The technicians were then freed from their duties upstairs and joined us downstairs to begin our relaxing process. They began with trimming the nails, then filing them into shape. I saw my companion's tech bring out a dremmel with a big, round sand paper layer atop and was pretty impressed as she began to remove the years of hard work from his feet. She then massaged him with sea salt and soapy gel. He looked like he was in heaven--and so was I, as my tech was massaging my feet and legs too. Then my technician painted my feet and rewarded me with a wonderful shoulder and back massage. This really was sublime. While we were there, many others entered and were serviced alongside of us. Everyone looked really relaxed. I will be back to this nail salon because of the friendly service and the wonderfully pleasant attitude of the technicians here. I was given a gift certificate for Christmas last year and I decided to use it last night to get my nails filled. Jenny was my nail tech. She was very nice and best of all she did a grrrreat job! I work near here and it's so hard to find a good nail place on piedmont avenue! This place is definitely awesome for the location and the work. I definitely will continue getting my fills here and coming here. I'd say the only thing that was kind of a miscommunication is the timing. I wish they're appointments would run a bit more on time instead of 10-15 min late but, It's understandable why they would be late due to high volume of people read more

Kim is the best!! She is so gentle and kind and very professional. Whenever I get a wild hair and go to another salon.... I regret it and come right back to Kim to fix whatever "ingrown trouble" they have caused. She is a saint!! -1 star because the salon is not warm enough for me, but I like it really warm. And for street parking. (not her fault). You can park at Kaiser and get the first 30 min free!!! She has those nice massage chairs. I prefer Kim, and only Kim. :) read more

So pleased I came across this nail salon within walking distance! The ladies were sooo sweet and very focused on great service. I got a shellac manicure today and was surprised to receive a neck/shoulder/arm massage that lasted almost 15 minutes while they took off my old shellac and prepped my nails for polish! How great is that? I only take off one star because although my gel manicure looks great, it is a little thick which is not my preference. Additionally, it would be great if they had just a few more shellac colors to choose from. Other than that, I can wait to return for another manicure and next time a pedicure for sure! read more

So this is what my lashes look like, straight out of bed, no brushing. This is it and it looks great. This photo is taken a couple days after a fill. Hayley is very good and I get the impression that she takes a lot of pride in her work. She's actually pretty fast given that she lashes almost every single lash, if not every single lash. I would know since I used to get "one to one" lashes with her. I am pretty particular about my extensions. And for me, her extensions last a long time. They still look really amazing at the end of 4 weeks. I also personally like them "not too long" since I also wear glasses and I like a mix of lashes. Hayley is really wonderful at what she does. I appreciate that she allows me to relax and sometimes even fall asleep during the fills. Even at 39 weeks pregnant with a giant belly, she offers these wedge pillows to make you more comfortable so you can lie on your side for the fills--which I think is very thoughtful and kind of her, especially because it seems like an inconvenience for her to be lashing at a weird angle. I actually have tried a few of the other technicians (Sandy and Daisy) and they are also very nice and good at what they do. Hayley is my favorite though so I will be getting my lashes done by her for as long as she is working! I've been with her for four years now. I highly recommend her. I will say the lady was very sweet, welcoming, and kind, and the place was extremely busy with lots of customers coming in and out. I have nothing negative to say about her customer service. Based on my experience, I would recommend this place more for cleaning up and maintaining an eyebrow shape you already like, rather than creating a new shape, evening out uneven brows, or doing a first-time brow transformation. I'm surprise like many here seeing that there are 5 stars reviews. My experience was not the least pleasant. I am giving this place no stars for the following reasons: 1. STAFF: The ladies here are very pleasant except the Susan. She spoke poor English and seems very rude. I know the ladies probably don't get much of a pay seeing how they set their price so cheap. So I bet the ladies working for the OWNER are relying on tips. I personally would always give my tips to the ladies, IF you give it to the owner.. you just know they are not going to get it. Yes it is sad but I can see the Owner snitching her staff hard earned tips. ADVICE: If you like your service, give it to them personally. 2. Environment: It's cold in San Francisco during the winter. Yes California cold not mid west or north coast cold. But it's cold. Regardless, where you are.. a nail spa experience should be comfortable and nice. This place is too cold for a nail shop. I'm not sure why it's so cold. Did the OWNER also getting cheap and rather not pay high heat bills? If this is the case, I can see how she can take her employee's tip. ADVICE: Come dress warm or better yet, go somewhere else that is more warm. Also, OWNER, this is not how you should be conducting your business. 3. I recently moved onto Piedmont Ave and was in need of a pedi/mani. I, of course, went on Yelp and read the reviews to see what other fellow Piedmont-ians are saying. And voila ! They did not disappoint. Nail Today is a cute nail shop located across from Kaiser. It looks small on the outside, but is actually big and beautiful on the inside. They are under new management and redecorated and renovated the inside. The ladies of Nail Today, Helen, Amy, Cam and Diane are angels. It is incredible how they service every client that walks into the door. They are always making sure that you are comfortable and feel at home and makes me never want to leave. They are patient and take their time with the leg massage and arm massage for my mani and pedi. If there are any problems, let them know and they will happily fix it. Clean and calm place but my nail lady (the one who takes phone calls) had such a bad attitude. My bar for poor customer service is high but she takes the cake. Made an appointment over the phone for same day. Went on a Wednesday early evening. Got a gel manicure. She was efficient yes. After the two coats of polish I said I just wanted to add a sparkle finish on my ring and thumb finger and she said "why didn't you choose in the first place ?" I'm like, I didn't know that's how it works, I didn't think it needed extra sparkle until I tried it". I appreciate that the gel manicure was cheaper around $30. And she was quick (15-20mins). This review is not about the service but about the person who provide the services. Be careful with Helen. She is an evil woman. She and other workers there used to work at Galaxy nail but they were fired because the owner discovered that they tried to take over the salon. Moreover, after being fired, they tried to file a law suit against the Galaxy nail's owner. They are really bad people despite their nice appearances. They might talk nice things in front of you but when you turn away, they curse behind your back. Helen is unreliable. Be careful before doing any business with her. I've been serviced by both before, and I prefer the gentleman because he's more gentle, while the older lady accidentally cut my toe in the past. I told the front desk that I would like to wait for the gentleman to finish his current client so I could be serviced by him. I waited for about an hour, and then I noticed the front desk lady speaking to the staff in another language. Shortly after, the gentleman finished with his client and then left the salon. The older lady then gestured for me to take a seat, but I explained again that I was waiting for the gentleman. The front desk lady told me that he had gone home and that if I didn't want to be serviced by the older lady, I would not be serviced at all. I politely declined, thanked them, and left. This was by far one of the most unprofessional and disappointing experiences I've had at a nail salon. The lack of communication and courtesy from the front desk was unacceptable. I will not be returning.

Instead of hearing me out or simply checking my nails, she immediately dismissed me and said, "you should go back to them then." Let me be clear: the salon I went to previously was out of state while I was on a business trip. That response wasn't just unhelpful--it was flat-out disrespectful, especially considering how often Black women like myself frequent this salon and keep their business running. For a tech to so casually suggest I go elsewhere, without offering a solution or showing any professional courtesy, was insulting. This isn't the first time I've felt uncomfortable or undervalued here, but it will definitely be the last. What made it even clearer was walking right around the corner to another salon, where I was welcomed warmly, listened to with care, and received excellent service. They heard my concerns, offered solutions without attitude, and treated me like a valued client--exactly what I expect when spending my money. If you're going to profit off the loyalty of Black women, then at the very least, we deserve to be treated with respect. There are too many talented and professional techs out there who know how to provide both good service and dignity. I won't be returning to Queen Nail.

GelX is supposed to be healthier for your nails anyway, and I didn't notice much of a difference in quality. They had a huge selection of colors and powders. I asked for just a plain set with chrome powder on top, and they delivered! The service was also very good. I initially made an appointment with 2 other friends, but it was in the evening and there were only 2 nail technicians there, so my friends got their manicures before me. Even though it was past closing time, Cindy still offered to stay late to accommodate me. I had other plans though, so I offered to return in the morning, and she let me set up another appointment that worked with my schedule. Overall, I'm very happy with the service and with my nails!!
