I used Ellie back in June of 2010 for my wedding hair and make-up. She did such a great job! Communicating via e-mail, she was always very prompt to reply to my questions. We did a trial run at her salon a few days before the big day to pinpoint the exact look I was going for. Hubby's jaw dropped when I walked out of the shop (destination wedding so I had to tow him around most places with me!), and when we went next door for some lunch, the waiter asked if I had come from a beauty pageant, lol. She took a few photos from different angles to use as reference for the big day, and was nice enough to e-mail them to me so I could keep them :) On the big day Ellie showed up on time to do my hair/makeup as well as my mom's. She was a joy to talk to and very upbeat during our session. She got us done with plenty of time before my bridesmaids showed up to do pictures. My makeup lasted all night and she gave me a little extra of the lip gloss she used so I could reapply it as it wore off from the eating/drinking. I have really curly hair and when I first reached out to Ellie, she immediately asked me pertinent questions about my hair, asked for photographs and recommended some conditioning products to use in preparation for the big day. She looked at all of the hair styles that I had snagged from Pinterest and gave me recommendations on what would look good for the big day. She was basically a gal pal who has an insane talent for hair and make up -- win & win! We had so much fun the day of our trial and she did such an incredible job that I knew we had to book her right away. Ellie is just a master when it comes to all hair styles but she is the one and only stylist I liked who could make my curly hair look amazing in its natural state. She created a schedule for our big day that allowed us to wake up at a reasonable time the day of but also got all of the services done in time for our photographer's arrival. She gave a list of tips/pointers for me to share with my bridesmaids before the day of, including recommendations on skin care/hair care prior to the big day. Ellie answered every text I had promptly and reached out the evening before to confirm her team's arrival. When the day came, not only was Ellie's team on-time but they all wore masks the whole time and made sure that we felt comfortable. The whole beauty team had such calm demeanors and made each of us feel so special, pampered and relaxed (which I heard is pretty rare the morning of a wedding!). Ellie especially took care with my mother and made sure that she absolutely loved her hair and make up and felt confident and beautiful. The whole team did a fabulous job with our hair and make up. My fiancé especially said she did an amazing job highlighting our natural beauty while also making us look glam. Seriously, we all felt so confident and glamorous and all got so many compliments on how we looked throughout the night. To top it off, we all danced the night away and our hair and make up STAYED amazing. We have photos from cake cutting at the end of the night and I looked just as good then as I had many hours earlier in the ceremony. Hours of dancing and my hair was still flawless and my make up looked incredible. It made the night so fun to not worry about make up running or hair falling down. I recently moved back to Scripps ranch and was in need of a stylist. I came across a new twist here on yelp. I checked out reviews and their website. Everything looked great! Especially the part it's in Poway- the salon is only a 10 min. Drive! I was matched with Stacey and I'm so thankful to have met her!! I had a grown out ombré and wanted to get my blonde a silver tone. My actual goal is a full baylage/ombré silver/grey/white color. Well, I visited her twice and my hair gets sooo many compliments!! The bottom half is already a pretty silver toned while the top is still a blonde (I came in with my top grown out -some old ombré brassy blonde and my natural color. Which, resulted in having to bleach with foils all on the top.) I also got a cut on my 1st visit and honestly it was the best cut I've gotten in years! When it's down with loose/wavy curls along with the color(s) it looks amazing! My friends couldn't believe how good my hair looked. My hair is pretty long and w all that bleach it managed to stay healthy. I take very good care of it at home, while Stacey uses Olaplex in the salon. Allows my hair to feel/look smooth and bouncy. Plus, Stacey is sooo much fun to talk to during the process! She's friendly and i never get bored in there. She offers me a variety of drinks some alcohol and others regular. I usually take ginger ale. It's soo refreshing! The salon is super cute and they sell amazing hair products and some cute accessories. Including this spray for the bathroom! Lol. It's must staple in your collection of toiletries! I've purchased a conditioner and the bathroom spray. I do plan on purchasing more. I started going the ending of September or first week of October and I went just last week (the week before the weekend before Halloween). I'm planning on going hopefully next week or the following for my hair can be that much closer to the exact color I want it before thanksgiving and of course just the holiday season period in general . So, I plan to go in as many times as I can to achieve my look. Which, isn't easy considering I'm a natural brunette w long hair trying to get all my hair (except my base leaving that natural) a very, very light blonde-silver, grey and white. If you want an amazing stylist that does great hair and keeps you in the loop explaining what they're doing and why. As well as super fun to talk to while getting your hair down. Go to this salon and ask for Stacey!! You won't have to look any further. I'm usually picky w my hair and always looking for a backup just in case, but this time I'm not even looking into other hair salons because I know Stacey will keep my hair looking amazing! I mean how many times have you went in for a trim or cut w long hair and the stylist cut WAY to much off? It happened to me wayyyy to many times. With Stacey before she cut she told me how much she thought was a good amount without losing to much length and even showed me and I agreed. It turned out to be perfect! I love how she actually perfected the long layers! And she managed to blend in my outgrown bangs. So, now my outgrown bangs layer my face perfectly! Especially with the blonde layering it! It just all falls together. This is a style I'll keep for awhile. I can still make my bessy buns, side braids, and my full head of hair in 2 double Dutch braids w no problem! I called and the lady that picked up was very nice and even after I hung up I got a text confirmation and she even went as far as sending me Susie's number in case I needed to contact her. After reading several positive reviews for A New Twist, I made an appointment to get my hair done. I really liked the fact that you can schedule an appointment by phone or text. Their text replies were quick and they made sure that I knew where they were located. When i sat down in my stylist's section, I didn't have a clear idea on how I wanted my hair done. One of my main concerns was to have my hair cut at a manageable length that doesn't cause my hair to frizz up more. I liked that my stylist, Stacey had great suggestions on how to style my hair based on my hair type, which is long, frizzy, thick hair. That is one of my biggest issues is when a stylist cuts too much off and my hair gets poofy. I enjoyed getting my hair washed. Stacey does great scalp massages. read more

Jalissa is amazing she gave me a new haircut and I loved it. I had been going for the cheap under $20 haircuts from mom and pop shops and the occasional Supercuts of fantastic sams but I fell in love with the hair cut and treatment. She responded via txt for an appointment and waited for me as I was running a tad late. I had originally thought of color and cut but changed my mind as my kids had to tag along and I wasn't too convinced on color. Never once did she become pushy or show any signs of being mad because I was only getting a cut vs the combo of cut and color I had originally scheduled.
