Chicago Winery prioritizes upscale and intimacy but their service is personable and friendly allowing you to feel right at home. On Wednesday they offer a Happy Hour special, $5 off a tasting and $10 wine by the glass. The server as extremely kind, and was able to offer me some suggestions based on my personal palate and wine interests. I landed on the Winemaker's Tasting, which included 4, one ounce pours, including Blancs de Blancs, Albarino, Barbera and Merlot. I paired the tasting with the a BYOB board. From their menu I picked the olives, Afterglow, and the Tempesta Guanciale. The server was educated on the wines was able to walk me through the tasting and pairings but gave me independence and autonomy to enjoy at my own leisure and pace. I highly enjoyed my visit and absolutely will be returning to dine in, as well as to get a winery tour!

We had the date package and ate at the restaurant after. I recommend the pork schnitzel and pierogis. We ordered four shareables but weren't blown away by the butternut squash fondue and gougeres. Loved our hostess for the wine tasting, but wish there was more guidance on tasting notes and wine terminology. I'd recommend though to any wine lovers, I still learned a lot!

This past Wednesday was a packed house to experience Liz Mandeville's Bourbon & Blues show. Liz' hosts the Wednesday shows with her one of a kind guitar driven sultry, sexy and sugar coated storytelling & cutting edge humor. That is the highlight until she brings up her special guests. Last week from LA Blues Angel Brigitte Purdy singing Blues, Soul and Gospel tinged songs we all love (the audience was on their feet), The duo of Darryl Wright and Susan Williams double bass slayed our hearts with Angel From Montgomery. From Germany our new favorite Blues son in Chicago Stefan Hillensheim stirred our souls (his new baby Layla was there) and keeping the beat Stephen Bass on drums. This was more than a jam it was a variety show filled with some of the best talent in Chicago led by one of the most dynamic entertainers here at LePiano. We are lucky to have Liz host every Wednesday night (when she isn't on tour) at my favorite intimate listening room in Chicago. Thank you, Lynn Orman

During the second set, she yielded the stage temporarily to Susan Williams (who backed Liz on bass guitar in the first set) and Darryl Wright, renowned Chicago bassist, who happened to be in the audience -- which felt like a real treat. The brut cava that's on the menu is, in my opinion, undrinkable (it's quite funky). I had complained to the manager about it months ago, so was disappointed to see it still on the menu. I didn't order anything to drink. Later, the server came over to tell me they are currently trying out some other options which aren't yet on the menu and brought me a taste of a prosecco -- which was delish!

We enter the venue. No one greets us and it is fairly empty. We ask a woman who walks through the main space, "Are you all open?" She says "yes", but never breaks stride. Another woman walks into the main space, we ask "Do we seat ourselves?" She replies, "Yes, you can sit wherever you'd like, inside or outside", before walking off. 3. We seat ourselves and wait about 10min for the server to come to our table to water. She provides an overview of the meadery and prepares to leave. We stop her and ask to place an order for the cauliflower pizza in the photo . She replied, "Oh, we don't serve that anymore. We use regular frozen pizza dough now." Wow, just wow. Why circulate false advertisement on the website? We left without ordering anything.

I had taken a winemaking class here, so I also could buy some of their kits if I didn't want to start from scratch with my own juice. Recent, I went to a Sunday brunch session that was really nice. The food was outstanding. And with the weather being nice, outdoor seating was an option that made the afternoon that more enjoyable. I had only been familiar with the wine, mead, and brewing supplies aspect of Wild Blossom. I like their "restaurant" setting. I may get back to enjoy some weekend events.
