I'm in love with A Novel Romance and all of its adorable romance sub-genre vignettes from sports (!) to fantasy (!!) to filth (!!!). It's clear that so much thought went into the crafting of each setup and the rooms truly make this bookstore feel like multiple. Not to mention several adorable staged areas for photos. Staff were super kind and will help you find what you're looking for or happily provide you with a recommendation. The store gets regular visits from writers too - there was a ton of signed copies and various fun author freebies. If you're a romance reader, this is well worth driving out of your way to shop! read more

If you are a fan or romance books, this store is for you! Located in the cute area of J-Town, this bookstore is a large building converted so each room houses a sub-genre of romance books (like sports, YA, Queer, Contemporary, Dark etc.). They have a great selection, and also have a lot of other fun romance themed goodies in store. They host A LOT of author talks, brining in visitors from states away, and host a audiobook walking club on sundays. The staff is so kind and funny, clearly they love their jobs, and the prices are also appropriate. I find the books to be normal priced, but the goodies to be a little more on the expensive side, so more like gifts you would occasionally purchase (like a $8 book mark). I absolutely loved the layout and thoughtful design of this bookstore located in J-town, that is dedicated to romance literature. The store is bright and colorful, with multiple rooms. The shelves are labeled, making it very easy to look for the particular subgenre that one enjoys. In addition to every subgenre imaginable, there is a large multipurpose room with a table and chairs, that is used as a co-working space, craft nights, book clubs and more. There is even a play room for children to enjoy while their parent peruses the stacks. The book selection, bookish merchandise, and novelty items are inclusive, and it is obvious that the owner wants everyone to feel represented and comfortable. In addition to books there were stickers, bookmarks, mugs, soaps, candles, bath bombs, puzzles and more! Parking is streetside and plentiful, and the business is open 7 days/week. Who wants to go to a big-box book store when there is a beautiful, locally-owned store like this? See you in the stacks! read more

Just wanted to update this review now that I've attended an event at A Novel Romance. And this spot very much remains five stars. I attended the midnight release for "Onyx Storm." (Are you into "Fourth Wing" books as well? If so, you have one lady here eager to talk all about them. :-D) Anyway, when A Novel Romance announced it would host a midnight release, I immediately bought tickets for my sister-in-law and I, as well as the special edition of the book they were selling along with the tickets. And what a fun time this was! They really got into the theme of the book, with a parapet for guests to walk when they arrived (though if you fell off you faced much less dire circumstances than what happens in the book), a place to write your craziest book theories and games to play with other guests while we all waited for midnight. After getting our books -- a smooth process once time was up -- we were also given gift bags with "Onyx Storm" stickers, bookmarks and cookies. A Novel Romance has really gotten into the book events, with a full calendar. So if romance books interest you, you should check them out. read more

One business I knew I had to visit when I was in town was this romance book store. As an avid romance reader, it was a no brainer to be able to make a trip out. On the day we were visiting, they were getting ready for a dark romance event that evening. But thy were plenty stocked on books in each room. I love that they support small businesses by selling their products as well. I walked in with no plan and walk out with tons of books, a tshirt and a few book sleeves/ kindle cases later with no regrets. The staff was incredibly friendly and are happy to make recommendations. We stopped here between visiting a winery and heading to dinner. Book stores after wine is never a good idea for the wallet. I absolute LOVE this store. I love that the sections are set up based on the different types of romance books. Want a sports romance? There's a section. Want a dark fantasy romance? There's a small room FULL of fantasy/dark romance books. Want something super spicy? There's a spot in the store for you. I loved wandering through the sections and perusing books. There were several local authors in several of the spaces. Each of my friends and I unintentionally picked up books by these authors and were able to either get the books personalized or at least be able to talk with the author. I also enjoy that there are totes/shirts/bookmarks/cups (you name it) to purchase as well. I'm already planning on heading back soon to pick out a few gifts and presents for friends as well as pick up another book for myself. I will highly recommend this to my fellow readers for the foreseeable future. read more

Love love LOVE this cute store. There are lots of very well organized shelves of books, lots of helpful information for choosing a book, and tons of cute stickers and accessories. They had a place set up for an author signing later that day with a cart of refreshments for the author (very hospitable!). The best part? Omg! I stumbled upon this adorable book store that sells ONLY romance novels but such a vast variety of them. The whole store is like a little house with different rooms for different "genres"! Elle who works there, was super sweet and welcoming. Everything I got was priced well and I love to support local. Super cute merchandise & stickers also. A novel Romance recently moved into a bigger space and WOW, they are doing things there! The bigger space has much more room (obviously lol) but also has many more rooms dedicated to certain romance dramas. I love visiting the fantasy romance room! This new spot also has more space for activities, they have a writers room and it looks like they will be adding more events. Along with more books in the bigger space they have more bookish merch like bags, stickers, cups, etc. And for those of you that love blind date with a book, they have those too! Overall: I love this spot and love that its dedicated to romance readers everywhere. read more

A romance book reader's dream! A Novel Romance is thoughtfully curated and the attention to detail is unmatched. I felt pure joy when I entered the store. It is the perfect size for what it is selling, quaint and colorful. The books are laid out by trope/genre making it easy to focus on what you want to read like sports romance, fantasy, lgbtq, etc. The bookish gifts include cute stickers, cards, bookmarks, candles, mugs, pouches, and jewelry if I remember correctly. Visited for the first time today and I am in love!!! Such a quaint, little shop with a large selection of romance novels. The owner was in and I loved talking to someone so excited to engage with customers! They have so many different things - I got books and stickers but could have spent a fortune. Looking forward to reading a novel by a local writer I picked up while there. Highly recommend a visit here - the store itself and the surrounding area would be a great setting for a romance novel!!! Very nice workers and good affordable prices. It is a very nice area that is expanding more and more.
