I don't know why it has taken me so long (nine months) to write this review. I honestly still haven't processed everything leading up to, and on our wedding day. Having a team there with you every step of the way, from planning and coordinating, to the final execution (pun intended, lol) is probably the most helpful and reassuring thing in the world. Especially if, at the time, your future hubby's favorite saying is "Get whatever you want" or "I think that's a great idea". Add in working full time while trying to finish college and walk at graduation just 6 days prior to the wedding date. Ugh, whoever thought that was a good idea must have been crazy! I first discovered Kelly and her Team from their free wedding workshops. Initially, I was only interested in the service that will assist you in finding vendors. A Perfect Day (APD) will charge a commission fee to the vendor once a contract is signed, making the service free to their clients. However, after attending just one workshop, I was so impressed! Even with the help in finding vendors, I started feeling the pressure and inquired about the full "day-of coordination" service. Julia provided me with information on what that all entailed and assisted me on the spot in scheduling an appointment to meet with Kelly. Kelly is very flexible and has some evenings available either in town or more West. Prior to our first meeting, we were in contact via email. She sent forms with questions about what kind of wedding I wanted, my style, expectations, etc. Our first meeting was at Mr. Tea in Ala Moana, we were both early and she texted to let me know she was there. She came fully prepared with follow up questions to the form I had previously completed. We went over everything again and she took detailed notes to each answer. After, we scheduled our next meeting and she gave me homework, as I still had some vendors to secure. After that meeting, I knew we absolutely needed to have APD's help with coordination. I copied Kelly in on all emails to and from our vendors so she could be aware and update her notes on times as well as the services we would be provided. We met just about every month up until the wedding. Each meeting went smooth and although I was extremely stressed out, she reassured me that we were on schedule with where we should be at this time and reminded me not to worry. Knowing just about every vendor in the wedding industry, I felt like she always had my best interest. She welcomed every single one of my questions and provided me with confident answers. This alone was one of the biggest reliefs, it allowed me to move forward knowing that I didn't have to worry about anything. Kelly attended our "rehearsal" at the site and walked us through the ceremony, teaching us how to transition from walking down the aisle with my dad to standing with my groom at the altar. We practiced A LOT, each time with a smile on her face. Finally, the day of, she and Julia arrived at the hotel at 3:30 am, just before my hair, makeup, and tattoo cover began. Throughout the day, everything was on schedule, the team let me know what was next on the timeline and made sure everything I had listed as a "must do" was done. They set up our reception centerpieces and put out the favors. They were so helpful to move most of the wedding décor and reception items back to the hotel room, and were still there to make sure everything was cleaned up so we could get out on time. APD's team is literally the first to arrive and last to leave. APD's team was so amazing, I had absolutely no care in the world and was able to fully enjoy my big day. I really can't say enough about them. I am forever grateful for all the time, hard work and friendships that have come from this wonderful, memorable experience. Kelly Sugano is an AMAZING wedding planner! She is part ninja, part secret service, and part saint because she makes miracles happen - like our covid wedding, lol. You will never go to bed with an unanswered question. Because Kelly will take care of it. She has some really awesome people on her staff as well. Julia helped us SO MUCH with our timeline, dealing with an insane amount of changes, and making sure to get all the major/minor details all checked. She contacted all the vendors (especially some that went a bit M.I.A. during the pandemic like wtf...) and hassled them to make sure they got back to us with details, contracts, and commitments lol. When you book Kelly Sugano, you kinda get this badge of quality whenever you try to find vendors or a venue. For example, Hawaii Vista Weddings (a small new gorgeous venue in Pacific Palisades) will ONLY work with Kelly (at least for now anyway) since Kelly plays by the rules and makes SURE everything is SAFE (she does not bleep around with covid safety precautions), makes sure all your vendors show up and do their contract job (and I'd be scared to be a vendor that makes her mad haha), and her word is TRUSTED. Well, because of APD and Kelly Sugano's team, I enjoyed every moment of my day and was a well fed bride! PLANNING: I was a mostly AWOL bride who completely procrastinated until the last minute. I work as a surgeon in California but wanted an over the top glamorous wedding in Hawaii, so I left it up to my mom and Kelly to make my dream come true...and boy did they deliver! I am a total type A person and control freak but for my wedding I gave the reigns to Kelly. Her attention to detail put my OCD to shame. If you think you don't need a wedding planner, you are sorely mistaken because Kelly and her team think of questions and details that you don't even realize happens at a wedding. Thinking about her checklists makes my head swim...I don't know how they do it! They recommended the best vendors and can help you to find ones that fit your budget and style. Julia was like my on hand help (a girl can really get spoiled in a day), and I still think of her every time I trip and fall (which is quite frequent). The team's walky-talky system reminds you of the secret service, and they have constant tabs on everyone (so we didn't have any lost drunk groomsmen or fathers missing in action). I've heard of "bridal first-aid bags" but Kelly and her team carry a full on arsenal of emergency items. Any crisis was immediately solved: from my dad forgetting his contact solution (check, in the bag), to one of our groomsmen's pants being about 4 sizes too big (check, tailor kit and quick fixes in the bag), to band aids and blister protectors (check, in the bag). Kelly knew exactly how we wanted the program to run and her team took care of directing guests from location to location. They took care of making sure the night went so smoothly. Kelly must have some ninja in her because you don't see her, but the second you need something she pops up! I wish I could fully express all the ways that we are so thankful to Kelly and her team for making our day "A Perfect Day." A Perfect Day was definitely the reason why I was able to enjoy my wedding ceremony. From even before we began planning, all the way to the end of the ceremony, Kelly was VERY organized and always on top of things. Her attention to detail and the meticulous timeline she created is exactly the type of planning I appreciate. Our world changed after that. Kelly is so warm, helpful, kind, organized, quick, everything you could possibly want in a wedding coordinator and we hadn't even hired her yet. She was helping us before we paid her one dime! That's how much she cares about helping people. We planned our wedding with Kelly and told her everything we wanted to see, feel, and experience. My friend had her wedding coordinated by A Perfect Day, and they were her saving grace on her wedding day- extremely organized, present from the getting ready process all throughout the reception. When it was my turn to get married, my husband and I wanted to use them as well. Our first meeting with the planner was disappointing (she did not show or call, and I had to have the office receptionist call her for us several times to get a hold of her); however, she made up for it by promising us a big discount in our contract. The main reason for the 3 stars then, is for the enormous price this company charges. When I spoke with my friend further, I learned that she still had to do all of the major leg-work on her own (hunt for vendors, go to appointments alone, etc). In the end, the money she paid to A Perfect Day was really just for them to be there for her on her wedding day to keep things running smoothly... As great as this company was at this for my friend, my husband and I could NOT justify spending the amount they required for the services they actually provided. While they did keep all my friend's wedding items on lengthy and detailed lists which helped my friend stay organized, when I read them closely I found them to be unnecessarily complicated and that a simple Excel sheet maintained on her own would have sufficed. The unfortunate part of this is that my husband and I (to our own fault) had already put a $1,000 deposit down with A Perfect Day when we decided to not to use them. When I called the coordinator she said the only way to get my deposit back was if they were able to book another wedding for the weekend of my wedding. While I understand the logistics of this policy, I'd thought that because we were referred by a friend who had used them previously, and because they hadn't technically done any work for us at this point, that they would be a bit more lenient in giving us at least a portion of the money back. I suppose they never booked a wedding on our wedding date, because we never heard back from them after that phone call. read more

We started shopping for wedding coordinators late in the game because at first we thought we could handle all the logistics of our wedding. As the planning became more complicated and the number of vendors increased, we began to think that coordination services would be necessary to make sure that we could actually enjoy the wedding day rather than be stressed about managing vendors. We had planned our ceremony at the Paradise Cove Crystal Chapel and reception at the Ihilani, so there were a few logistical issues to make sure the florists, photographers, videographer, transportation vendors all knew where to be at the right time. So about four months out from the wedding, we began looking. We first met with Kelly in person when she was still running A Perfect Day to discuss her on site coordination package. What blew me away with Kelly was her organization. She showed us a lengthy binder containing a timeline. She talked us through the different logistically issues we may face, and also offered her help (even though we had not signed a contract with her yet) with any questions we may have or her suggestions on vendors. She explained the package we were looking at, where we would secure the contracts with all our vendors and take over from there. While we were impressed with Kelly, what did not sit with us was her price give our budget (but keep reading). We shopped around and met with a few other wedding coordination services. While others would quote us anywhere from 1/2 to 1/3 less than what Kelly had quoted, we just did not feel the level of comfort we had with Kelly when we first met with her. We went back to Kelly (after she switched to Fred and Kate) and it was the best decision we made. Immediately (since our wedding was only 3 months away), Kelly sent us questionnaire forms and other documents to help us with the planning process. And we sent her many, many emails asking her questions about different vendors. We were not the best clients. We had a number of vendors that we had not secured yet, but Kelly was patient, responding to all emails promptly with the right level of detail. We were also not timely clients, but Kelly kept pushing us to make decisions, without being overbearing. She struck the right balance with us throughout the planning phases. She also had amazing suggestions for vendors, including a dress alterations person and a DJ, who were all great and cut deals for us because of the referral from Kelly. I did not think there could be anyone more invested in the success of our wedding than us, but Kelly was. Kelly's presence at our catering meeting at the Ihilani was crucial because she asked all the right questions that we did not ask. Then, the week of the wedding, Kelly met with us again to over additional details, including the exact timing of our ceremony processional. By this time, our timeline had over 45 pages of detail. Kelly had also taken over management of the vendors, working our last minute details with our input. With just a few days to go to the wedding, Kelly also became even more responsive (did not think that were possible), answering emails quicker. We threw quite a few curve balls her way with many last minute changes and she adjusted. We also raised questions with the timeline, but she was there to give her input and adjust based on our comments When it came time for our rehearsal, Kelly was there with her team, coordinating with the folks from Best Bridal to make sure that everyone, including the wedding party, knew what they were doing. She managed that flawlessly, and ensured that the processional (which was important to me) was executed correctly with the right timing to the music. Then, the big day. Including Kelly, there were five from Fred and Kate to assist. As a traditionalist, I did not want to see my bride before the wedding. The team handled this well, keeping track of our locations at all time and communicating with each other to make sure our paths did not cross during photos, etc. All our vendors showed up at the right place and the right time, and all our vendors knew exactly what to do. When the bus company to transport our guests from the Ihilani to the chapel called me to tell us there was a problem with the drop off/pick up, I simply handed the phone to one of Kelly's team members, and she took care of the rest to see how that problem could be remedied. When we took a sneak peak into the ballroom, everything looked like it had been executed consistent with the design that my fiance had in her head. The timeline was executed perfectly. There were a few hiccups along the way during the day of, but that's to be expected. Kelly took care of them. It could not have been the wedding we wanted if it weren't for Kelly and her team. Kelly Sugano and her team were beyond wonderful! I had the BEST day in my entire life. My wedding was perfect. Everything went according to schedule and I am so happy that we hired "A Perfect Day". Our guests still tell us that our wedding was amazing and that they had so much fun! Many guests even told us that our wedding was the best that they have ever attended. I admit that at first we didn't want to hire any coordinator because of our finances. We debated it back and forth. Was it really worth the extra money? When the wedding came closer (4 months away) and more details were surfacing, the wedding day itself seemed more and more hectic. The one thing I wanted most was to NOT BE STRESSED on my wedding day. I've heard so many stories from older friends that they were constantly bombarded on their wedding day with questions that they couldn't eat or even enjoy their wedding. Crazy! My husband saw how stressed I was becoming so he convinced me to seek help for the "Wedding Day Of" coordination. I interviewed a couple of coordinators and Kelly Sugano from A Perfect Day was a great fit. Her organization and personality fit ours perfectly. She knew exactly what we wanted. She was professional and very quick on her feet. She knew how to get things done! Yes, A Perfect Day was more expensive than other coordinators but they were well worth the money. They actually made payments very easy. It was broken down into three payments so it wasn't so painful. If I could give anyone advice about their wedding, I always tell them to hire a coordinator. I don't think my day would have gone so smoothly without Kelly and her huge team. Since my wedding day began at 4:30am and went until 10:00pm, Kelly brought a team of people (maybe 6 people) to help. I knew from when I was a little girl I would have my wedding in Hawaii. So when my now husband proposed to me I was so excited to finally start planning my wedding. To give some background, my whole family is originally from Hawaii but now I live in San Francisco. It might seem strange, it was actually cheaper for us to have a wedding in Hawaii than in San Francisco. We ended up flying out my husbands family to Hawaii which was a nice treat for them. After doing a lot of research I knew hiring a wedding coordinator would def. benefit me. We live in San Francisco, CA so I knew planning a wedding from here would be a challenge. I would say location would be be the first thing to decide on. Then once I figured that out I started meeting with wedding coordinators. I can remember meeting with Kelly Sugano, she was very friendly and I could tell she knew what she was talking about. I also really enjoyed how passionate she was about making sure my day would be flawless. After our meeting I remember having a few questions I wanted to her ask her...after writing her a short email...only a short while later I received a response. From here I knew we would work out just perfectly. I prefer communicating through email and I esp. enjoy when the recipient responds back so quickly! A++! This was the case all the way up until my wedding! Awesome communication!! After a few months...Kelly informed me that Mary Cachuela would be coordinating my wedding instead of her. [It cost you a little more if you only want Kelly to be your coordinator on the DAY of] She let me know that she had full trust in Mary's capabilities and if I still wanted to email her that wouldn't be a problem. So this review is for both Kelly and Mary...but Mary was the one who was with me on my wedding day! Mary Cachuela from A Perfect Day is a WONDERFUL wedding coordinator, and such a breeze to work with. She is very professional, very organized, and really works with the bride to make it her day. I can't find enough words to express how PERFECT my day was! Her and her team provided me with nothing but the BEST! Some wedding coordinators are very pushy with their clients, and dont really listen to what the client wants and needs. Kelly Sugano of Fred+Kate is great! My fiancé and I were planning a destination wedding at Lanikuhonua from San Francisco and are so thankful that we found Kelly. You can imagine that planning from afar is already a challenge and it is even more so when you pick a wedding site like Lanikuhonua which is beautiful, but essentially a blank canvas (meaning you have to order the tents, plates, food, everything). Kelly is exceptionally organized and responsive, responding to e-mails at all hours of the day (does she sleep?). We decided to hire Fred+Kate just for day of services but Kelly was still very supportive throughout the whole wedding planning process giving us just enough information and encouragement to keep us going and applying a little extra motivation when we fell behind. It is clear that Kelly very much cares about providing exceptional service in a professional manner and her experience really showed on our wedding day when she (and the large team she brought with her) had to quickly adjust to the inevitable blips to ensure that we had a amazing and memorable day. Kelly of A Perfect Day truly made my day PERFECT!!!! My wedding was at Lanikuhonua...which, as some of you brides may know, is a beautiful, but stressful place to get married. Stressful because EVERYTHING needs to be set up, and I mean EVERYTHING!!! With Kelly and her staff, I did not have to worry about a thing. She took care of everything, ensuring that the tent, tables and chairs were set up and ready in time, setting out our favors, setting up our decorations, reception table, the bar, making sure the food was ready..... I could go on forever! My day was planned out perfectly and executed without missing a beat. Kelly provided an extremely detailed timeline for the day of my wedding. She pointed out countless things that I did not even realize I needed or needed to do! Kelly, as well as all her staff, were there from the crack of dawn, and stayed until after my wedding was finished. We did not worry about anything, and we were able to enjoy our wedding day completely stress-free! Kelly was always so easy to get a hold of either through email or by phone. This was especially important as the wedding got closer and I was starting to freak out about every little detail. Kelly was always calm and reassured me that everything would be ok and taken care of..... and that it was!!! I always receive compliments from my family and friends about how wonderful my wedding day was and how smooth everything went. I couldn't agree more. I have been to other weddings, and been a part of other weddings that either did not have a coordinator or did, but it wasn't Kelly, and sooooo many things were missed/overlooked/not taken care of.
