This is the first time I have posted but I just had to get this word out. I have moved a great number of times. This time I used a company called "A Perfect Move" in Kittery. They are a small local company. Honestly I could not be happier with them. From the very beginning extremely kind and courteous staff. They gave me a quote and stayed with it. I had 4 quotes and the other 3 were much higher. The movers came and they were the nicest guys, very professional, and incredibly helpful. I had some hiccups along the way and they took it in stride. I would very highly recommend them if any wants a moving company. Moving is stressful so make that part a stress free part. I'm telling my brokers to spread the word too. During a move of a heavy dresser down a stairway, the movers lost control of the piece and it slammed into the wall damaging an original painting which was hanging on the wall (purchased for $10,000). For putting a hole through the painting, they paid me in damages $25. The general cost of damages for items they are responsible for moving is $0.06/pound. Although the painting was not an item they were being paid to move, they took no responsibility for the damage caused. I would need to take them to court to have them pay full damages to repair a one-of-a-kind painting. A Perfect Move is unprofessional and unethical. My advice is to pay little attention to the reviews of the moves that were successful. How companies handle mistakes and conflict is a true test of value, character, and professionalism. read more

My husband and I decided to move from ME to CA in December. As this moving company had been highly recommended by our realtor and her clients, we decided to go with them, without any comparison shopping. From the first contact with Annessa, I sensed that we had made the right decision and that we weren't going to suffer some of the nightmares moving can cause. I explained that there were contingencies that prevented us from locking in a date for the move and a residence in CA. We had to sell our home in ME first. When the house sold in five days in February, we were all of a sudden thrown into a panic about having to find a place to live in CA and organize the physical move, the latter with Annessa's help. Annessa assured us that she would work with us, be flexible and help us make the move with minimal stress. She was detailed, friendly, personally and professionally caring, optimistic, and very good humored, fun to communicate with. The company packed our belongings carefully, with excellent attention to our art pieces, about which we were most concerned. The delivery in CA was timely and done with a same personal touch. Nothing was damaged. That had never happened in any of our other seven moves, three of which had been long distance. Moving cross country is expensive. The value lies in the safe delivery of belongings and the management of the stress and anxiety, some of which can come from the relationships with a moving company staff. Really disappointed at the ordering service process. I bought furniture from crate and barrel and they only picked up one of my two pieces, and then said it was my fault and tried to ask me for more money to pick up the 2nd item. I wish they could do a better job in confirming the order, they could have called me and asked that hey we are at C&B and they have 2 pieces of yours, instead they only picked up one with no communication until the delivery arrived, then when I called they tried getting more money from me to deliver the 2nd piece. Really disappointed, the movers were really nice people and did a great job packing and moving the couch, but ordering process needs have more visibility and improve drastically. read more

If I could, I would give zero stars. We were long time residents of the Seacoast and I thought I had done my research on a moving company. Unfortunately this company broke the footboard of my cherry sleigh bed and the movers did not notify me of this. Less than 15 minutes after they left I discovered the damage and reported it to the owner. I paid extra for the FULL VALUE PROTECTION after being told it would protect my items in case of damage during the move. I have called and left messages for the owner no less than five times without response. In addition, they offer a $50 refund if one makes a POSITIVE review on YELP or other websites. What a scam. Don't use them to move. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and will be sharing my experience on Facebook and with my extended network in the Kittery/Seacoast area. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. We called and gave them all our information they asked what we had to move and I went over all our big stuff and #s of boxes. I told them we had kids and lots of kid toys ect. They never came to look just everything over the phone. Day of the move they started packing everything right away, a couple hours in, they said they wouldn't be able to fit everything in their one truck. They said we had a lot of bulky things (patio table, grill, kids toys, all of which I listed over phone) so then the receptionist calls me because it's not the guys actually packing the trucks fault and she told me I didn't tell them our stuff accurately and that it was my fault everything didn't fit. They would need to get another truck and we would have to pay 1500 more!!!! Are you kidding me? Oh and what am I supposed to do at this point we had to be out of our old house and had no other options now. They had us and our money. Fast forward to the next day, moving & delivery day. They told us around 10am perfect. Guess what only the second truck came at 10am with all our random stuff on it. Nothing for the bedrooms living room or kitchen. So here we all are at our new house waiting to unpack and set it up and there was nothing. Our correct truck the first one didn't come until 2pm!!!! 4 hours after they were supposed to be there. All our help had to leave at that point. Crazy!! Then they started bringing everything in (lamps were wrapped up and taken apart our tv stand had been taken apart our workout equipment. They didn't set any of it back up nothing!!!! Our daughters BRAND NEW bureau was broken. They must have stacked way to heavy of things on top of it because it's all bent. They started to take it up the stairs and dropped it spilling clothes out. They told me it was fine. This is how it looks now the drawers fall out and don't work. This was over $600. They broke 15 of our 16 dinner plates and about 10 cups and 3 bowls. All stacked in plastic bubble wrap. They broke our umbrella stand for our patio. When I called the company and told them all this she said I packed it they were not responsible. Excuse me?!?! She said plates have to be packed standing up vertically and not horizontally. But they never told me that so that's funny. They have me $20.00 back for my broken things. All my dishes labeled FRAGIL CAREFUL ect. The whole box must have been dropped since they were all broken. So so bad. Terrible company. They cost us so much money & then everything that needed to be replaced. Terrible. read more

AN IMPERFECT MOVING COMPANY. This moving business engages in price gouging using last minute trickery and highly impolite demand for Overage payments. Up until a half hour before my move was completed, I would have ratetod this company up to five stars. Regretfully, I was duped from a verbal fixed price cost to the use of price gouging trickery in signing their written forms when I prepaid in full for this move. My recommendation to you: Choose a larger moving company and stay away from this one. Price-gouging is morally wrong. My move, quote, and payment were simple. I had requested quotations from moving wrapped furniture and boxed items boxed by another mover that I had stored for years in a 5x30 storage facility in PA to move into a like-storage unit near my home in Maine. After initial quotes, I decided to go with a PA mover, but was asked by this Imperfect Moving Company what they could do to get my business. Simple. Match my fixed price offer of $2,500 to load from one storage unit, move about 4 rooms of pre-wrapped furniture that had been in my parent's condo (living room, dining room, bedroom, and spare room used as a TV room) and I would gladly run down to prepay for the move with cash. They accepted. I drove over to prepay the $2,500 to an owner (Erin) and sign her paperwork. I was asked by her to assure the furniture was indeed simple condo furniture and did not include anything surprising, like a grand piano. It was indeed regular type furniture. On arriving in Maine, the two moving gents even went so far as to say what a simple move this was for them. All they had to do was load their truck that they pulled up to the PA storage unit, drive it up, and unload it simply into the ME storage unit. No elevators to use or steps to climb, or various rooms to put things in. A half hour before completion my cell phone rang with a woman from the moving company saying I needed to pay the driver $554 additional because the move exceeded their expectation of 4,500 lbs. The call got nasty to include the lady telling me at one point "I've told you several times now that my name is not Jackie. It's __". Hey, I'm 67 and half deaf. So, what's the big deal in not getting that she said her name was something else beginning with a J? Is that a typical way to treat your paying Client. After telling her several times I was not the balance demanded by credit card and would drive over to pay the balance in cash to their office, J kept telling me the truck was not going to unload anything more until payment was made on the spot. What a customer-service-lacking company. Can you imagine how many other choice clients there are who pay for a service in cash before the service is provided like I had done? The movers did end up unloading it all, and I did drive over right over to give the company $554 in cash for their "overage" demand. But hell if they thought I would keep quiet about their price gouging technique from sharing my experience in Social Media to warn others to protect themselves and stay away from this IMPERFECT MOVING COMPANY. read more

The crew was late, unprepared, inexperienced and messy. They broke several items and made a mess of my walls and broke furniture. To make matters worse, when I sent a claim for damages totalling over 1,000, including cracking an antique table, i received a check back for $71. They took a picture of the damaged item and admitted breaking it as well. When I sent an email back to aruge for more of a refund, they simply chose to ignore me. A Perfect Move handled the very difficult task of moving my in laws from their South Carolina home of close to 30 years to senior apartments in Kittery. They dealt with the emotional challenges as well as the physical logistics of downsizing seniors professionally and courteously. When faced with packing to do that was outside what they quoted, the SC crew handled everything without complaint or problem, even when it meant having to be there til 9:00 at night. At the Kittery end, they were sensitive, jovial and went above and beyond the call of duty to make my in laws comfortable and welcome. We had a similar experience as Doug O. where items were missing. They also delivered a mattress that was not ours. I told the delivery man that I loved the brand new king mattress, but i was sure the rightful owner who received our lumpy old mattress in return wouldn't be too happy. They came back the next day to make the switch. It made me wonder...if we received someone else's furniture, wouldn't it be possible that someone else had ours? How could this have happened? I found that a few of the missing items were listed on the inventory sheets, but not all. I tried phone calls, emails, contacting the owner of the company, all met with resistance and challenge. They offered to send someone over to help look for the missing items...how does one not see 2 chaise lounges, a dry sink, and a black cabinet in their new home? The burden of proof was completely on us rather than the company jumping in to work on making things right. They did send me a form to list the value of the missing items, and include the inventory numbers of the items I could find on their inventory sheets. I used fair market value on the items; the total value, in my estimation $800. A month went by, and I finally got a reimbursement check in the mail for...Thirty Six Dollars! And with that, they won, we lost our items and replacement value...case closed! My only satisfaction comes from being able to share my experience on Yelp in the hope that it will help others. Moving is a traumatic life event, whether the move is for happy or sad reasons. I think a moving company's responsibility is to help make the move a positive experience...sadly, this was not the case for us. read more

I'm in agreement with the others that it's a shame there isn't a ZERO star rating. They moved out belongings from our house to their storage and then back to out new house which is just down the street from where we lived. Several items were taken from our house but not inventoried. When the movers showed up to move us in they asked if these things belonged to us! Several items on the inventory list have never been recovered and after repeated phone calls only to be told "how busy they are" my next move is to take legal action. One of the pieces is an old Chinese painting that is 5 feet tall and they tell me they can't locate it. Unfortunately it is a piece of art that I'll never be able to find again as I brought it back from China years ago. I was so dismayed with how they moved us out that I asked to withhold some money from the move back. Chase told me that unless I paid all of the money that day that nothing would be loaded onto the truck. I went to their location the day after the move to find my missing items and report them, but over 3 weeks have gone by and NOTHING! If you use this company you are a fool. I had Perfect Move Inc move me on May 3, 2019 from my home to a storage unit locally. The guys were great and everything was done right. I was having a new home built. I was called several times in the summer to ask when they could schedule the move. New construction was taking longer and finally I scheduled on the 18th of November. I had to change the date to the 20th just 2 days later. I was told by the office personnel that I would lose my deposit and I would have to pay the deposit again. I challenged the deposit. I was told by the girl she had a business to run. She is not the owner and I personally think that should have been waived. So I had no choice but to pay it again. The crew that moved me were very nice but a couple of things were broken and damage to my new driveway which I will have to fix in the spring. I think 2 deposits was very very greedy. By the way I am elderly. I know a lot of people and I will not recommend your company. Not good business practice to charge 2 deposits for 2 days later and no fault of mine. read more

I would never ever use this company. In June of 2012 we were scheduled to do a cross-country move with this company. They led us to believe that they could handle this kind of move. The salesman who came to our home couldn't have been nicer. His estimate ended up being over $10,000 off. Yes, that's right! The day before our move, they called us and said that the driver had a family emergency and that his truck was stuck in Chicago. The day before we were supposed to move! I had to insist that they find an alternative for us. We had 3 kids under 9 and we were stuck with no moving truck. When they finally found a company out of Boston, this cost us $10,000 over the estimate and we had to pay out of pocket for this money. A horrible experience. They were hired to move us out of our house, store the furniture, and move it into our new house. They helped themselves to food in our refrigerator, let our dogs out of the house, moved items that weren't to be moved by them. I think one of the movers was high the whole morning. The charges were different than what we were told. When they moved us back in they couldn't find some of our furniture, brought mattresses that weren't ours. They lost a very important and expensive picture for which I was reimbursed $12.00. The fine print says they are only liable for lost items AT 60 CENTS PER POUND!!! The worst! I was given an estimate over the phone while I walked through my previous residence listing everything that had to be moved, to the salesman on the phone. Not to mention I had no appliances,, no living room furniture,had 2 twin bedroom sets, 1 king bedroom set, 1 dining room set, misc. boxes, 10 med, containers full of clothes, games,kitchen supplies. 6 lamps, which they failed to tell me that I would be charged $ 75.00 xtra per lamp, 1 large tv that they wrapped and 3 32in, that went on the truck as is, 2 bikes. 11 hours, I was charged for.I should also mention now that they have been charging me for 2 men since 9am, 5 pm comes around and they call in a 3rd guy, so now Im on the hook for another set of man hours. The estimate over the phone was for $900, that included xtra time if needed to assist with packing.The men told me that they got a sick call that am so that I of them not sure which one was a fill in, probably not even trained in the business .They finally finished up about 830 pm, by this time I was very exhausted and aggravated.The next morning I was unloading boxes that went into my dining room glass cabinet whdidn'ten I looked down and noticed both front legs I call them were all mangleme d looks like they tied rope around them to tight.. As I continue on I moved the large tv that they charged me to pack to be secure and the bottom part of its all scratched, now it has to be mounted looks horrible all the wires exposed. as you can expect I'm furious contacted the management, didn't hear back called my bank explained the situation to them, I stopped paynent on the check. Since then I have heard from 3 different management reps, advising me first that they have forwarded me claim forms, never did I have all my emails. I finally sent a letter explaining the damages along with pictures, they are claiming they never received it.Now just theotherday I received a email that they are filling charges against me for the check. Be very wary of the estimate they give you for your move and the actual final cost. We were quoted a price nearly $1,000 less than final fee. We were told we'd only need one truck to move and a crew of three. On the day of the move, they arrived with two trucks and a crew of five. We were so frazzled on moving day due to closing mix-up for house, we didn't think to question additional truck and staff. Movers were so-so. We were given an estimate and were expecting possibly 10% over but not 55%. At the end of the day we had to pay up and call the office to discuss our anger at being given an estimate that was ridiculously higher than quoted. Since we needed a second move due to keeping our stuff in storage until our home was finished, I asked for a discount if we used them for the second move. The best they would do was a confirmed quote amount for the second move. Due to the fact that the guys that did the first move packed the storage unit to the max we decided to go with them in case we has a lot of damage. The workers were pretty good, but due to the lack of being allowed breaks by mid-day they were getting tired and not as careful as they should have been. We had some damage to furniture, but overall the guys did a great job. That is the only reason I gave them 2 stars. If by some chance you decide to go with this company demand a written statement that you refuse to pay over 10% quoted. The person who does the quotes after coming to see how much you have should be able to do a better quote or lose his job! It was a total bait and switch as I interviewed a few other companies also. I chose A Perfect Move, Inc., because of the several moving companies I interviewed, they had the most professional presentation and approach. I made the right choice. I was looking for a mover who would pack up my household one day, and move everything into storage the next, with storage items being carefully arranged to ensure we could access necessary items during the next year or so. Everything went very smoothly. The young men who did the packing and moving were polite and well mannered. They worked so hard and fast! I was impressed. Their estimate was far higher than the final price. I think that was my own doing, since after their very professional estimator did her work, I continued the process of getting rid of things, organizing things into categories so they would be packed together, moving clothes and a few other things over to our temporary apartment, etc. Still, the two trucks and number of guys working was absolutely correct, and so my own organization saved me some money. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is that they are pricey compared to other companies. That is the only hesitation I would have in recommending them to a friend. read more

In my case, they sent an employee to do the move from a local labor company, labor ready, who was not a qualified mover. He was not trained, paid by the company Labor Ready, $8.00 per hour. He was slow, broke things and was useless. But I got charged "by the hour". When I call the company now, they do not call back when they say they are going too and now they ignore my calls. BEWARE!!! As others stated if I could rate zero stars, I would. Do NOT go with this company. We moved from New Hampshire to Florida in April 2013. The owner is sweet and gives a great sales pitch. The crew seemed friendly. The office staff were so accommodating. Until moving day. Three days were slotted for our move. Day 1 went ok. Day 2 they only showed for a couple of hours and the packing was not done. I called the office to express my concern and was assured everything was ok. Day 3 the truck shows up to load. Inventory was not done and there were at least 5 hours of packing to do. The truck driver is so mad , he is telling no way we are moving that day. Not acceptable since we were leaving for Florida the next day. . Finally at 10 pm they finished. Everything should have been done by 5 pm. We had no time to clean the house up for the new owners or say our goodbyes. Now on to the unload in Florida. This was by far the worst moving experience. I could not believe the damage to our furniture. Broken pieces. Scrapes and gauges. Missing parts. Breakable Times just thrown I the truck loose. To top it all off, my husband had 5 watches missing from his watch collection, as well as a collectible coin and a gold key chain. I can not express enough to stay away from this company. They are crooks and have extremely poor business practices. We are still trying to get compensation from them.
