I moved my friend to the Fountain View Manor memory care unit last year and am very happy with the…read moresupport he received there. After suffering a quick series of debilitating strokes, my friend rapidly developed symptoms of dementia and required memory care services. I initially placed him in another facility in the Belleville area, but quickly realized that he was not receiving adequate care or supervision. I then moved him to Fountain View Manor and immediately noticed a dramatic improvement in the quality of care provided. The physical facility at Fountain View Manor was far more home-like and inviting and, even more importantly, the staff seemed much more involved and caring. Though all of the staff did a great job, Nurse John and Aide Latrice were especially noteworthy in the level of care they provided. It was obvious by watching them work and talking with them that they both cared deeply about the residents they supported. Both John and Latrice took the time to get to know my friend and learn what he liked and did not like. They showed amazing patience in the care they provided, even as his condition worsened and the dementia transformed my normally polite and courteous friend into a person who became verbally and then physically abusive. Despite his change in demeanor, the staff still treated him with compassion and dignity, while ensuring that he was not a danger to himself or others. Though my friend died earlier this year as a result of his progressive illness, I know that he considered the Fountain View Manor staff to be his friends and I am grateful for their dedication and for ensuring that his final months of life were as pleasant as possible.

He participated in a lot of the activities. Level 2 I would give 3.9 stars. When my father was moved to this unit I realized they don't have enough staff to keep the residents engaged. It's at this level that each resident needs more care but there isn't enough staff to deliver that care. This unit is locked so residents don't wander the facility. Level 3 is downstairs and is a little chaotic. I give this unit 3.1 stars. Not enough care for the needs of every resident exists in this unit too. When you take the tour I recommend spending 15 minutes within each unit so you get the feel for the level of care each resident receives. I do like the level of security they have in place and how clean they keep every room.

My sweet mom who had dementia lived here for 2 years, 8 mos before peacefully passing. I live in…read moreNew England , but was able to visit her every 3-4 months for a few days each visit. What I observed at Dolan is reason for my reviewing. Some of Dolan staff at her house were lovely, but a lot were not. The turnover of staff very concerning, over 30 workers left within my moms short time. The head RNs that ran the house as well. There is a huge lack of training for dementia, huge lack of engagement with clients, a lot of TV time as well. The music people that come in 1-2x a week are excellent and probably best part and the girl who came maybe 1x a week for a craft was lovely and engaging. But the personal care I'd give a zero to. I told management, Steve and Tim Dolan these negatives I saw, numerous times I was visiting and there was NEVER any follow up or changes. Saw the same lack of engagement every visit, weekends being the worst. Beware before you sign your family member up. I think all houses may be different. I'd recommend talking to other families before you sign up, not families that Steve or Tim recommend , but random families. Stop in unannounced see what is really going on,. Beware there is only 1 staff person on duty at house for 12 hours alone with 10 elderly people. They also expect the caregivers to cook and clean WHILE they are supposed to be engaging with your loved ones which I found odd. I was there too many times where 5-6 people lined up in front of TV and the 2 person staff not to be seen. It s difficult job, but please do your homework on the Dolan house your family member will be living before you move them there.

Our family had many issues and wrote emails several times. Never received any response from this company. For the amount of money they are charging these residents things should be much better than they are there. They are having trouble finding enough staff and what staff they have are not trained properly to handle dementia or Alzheimer's residents. We had several incidents where our father was neglected.

I found the "ground floor" staff to be very helpful: caring, dedicated, and attentive. They got to know my father and his likes, and always took time to meet with us during my visits. The facility is new and in good condition, with spacious rooms and a decent layout. My issue with this facility is the executive leadership, and the lack of communication and attention to promised directives. I was told upon signing the contract that there would be an orientation to life at the facility, as well as monthly conference calls with his caregiving team. These never happened. When my father took ill and had to exit, they never processed the paperwork to close out his contract as promised. He left in mid-February, and 2 months later I was getting bills for room rental. To sum, Pro: attentive caregivers who do their best in what is likely a somewhat understaffed environment (this is true for most facilities, IMO). Con: Some leadership issues that make dealing with the administrative side a pain in the rear, and not something you should have to deal with

She was assessed as assisted living and after 2 days was moved to memory care at a considerable increase in cost. They didn't have a 1 bedroom in memory care so she was in a studio. Then a 1 bedroom opened up so they moved her again (this was never communicated to the family). She was there 5 months and in 3 different apts. The communication is horrible. My mom needed help calling us so I called and asked if someone could help her, no return calls. I went over a month without being able to speak to or see my mom. It was obvious they didn't care about keeping the residents connected with their families.

The employees and residents were friendly and welcoming. and the place was clean and organized. On my follow-up visit, I made a point to speak with several residents about their experience at St. Louis Hills. Each one spoke proudly and positively about their home, reaffirming my strong first impression. Now, three months in, we couldn't be more pleased. The staff truly go above and beyond -- not only are they attentive and compassionate, but they also bring a joyful energy that creates the atmosphere we had hoped for. One example of their attentiveness really stood out to me: because my dad is hearing impaired, I was concerned he might not hear aides when they knocked. After I shared this concern, the maintenance team promptly installed a flashing light system to alert him when someone is at the door. My dad is receiving exceptional care, enjoying delicious meals, and benefiting greatly from the outstanding physical and occupational therapy services. I'm deeply grateful to everyone at St. Louis Hills -- thank you for treating my dad like family.

Mom was a registered nurse until she retired at the ripe old age of 83 and the last 30+ years of her career was spent in nursing homes and care facilities, so she knew what she wanted in one for herself. This is the second review I have posted in re to this facility. The first one was two weeks ago when I posted a one star, due to having a loved one in the Memory Care unit, and in a year, especially the last few months saw it seriously decline, and was witness to some disturbing incidences, and lack of any kind of sense. I am now giving three stars due to how quickly and efficiently they responded, and took action. Clearly they pay attention to reviews. Two days after posting my initial review, this unit had done a 180° ! Employees who were problematic had been let go,the staff was working as a diligent team, treating eachother and residents with help and kindness without bickering or complaining, tasks getting done in a routine manner, and more managers present. I emailed them to let them know how impressed I was with what I saw and then had a terrific conversation with the overall director . She took no sides, just addressed and took action professionally. It has been so different visiting my "Nona" this last 4 visits, and I give kudos to them for their attention to addressing their problems .
