I asked for a haircut that I thought was pretty simple a trim at the bottom and little off the top after the haircut all my hair was all over the place and the pic I showed them was myself with the exact haircut I don't know how the lady decide to do my haircut like that but it was obvious that she had no idea how to do the haircut and proceeded to keep on cutting it. Even when I said to stop she kept on making the hair shorter and shorter. At one point I just decided to go somewhere else. Come here if you want to get your haircut fked up. I've been to this shop about 5-6 times. This review refers mostly to my most recent visit. This is definitely a barber shop, not a studio, salon, or the like. The patron next to me asked for a shave and when I was leaving, the barber had placed warm, moist wash cloths on his face. I don't know if they used a straight razor but I don't doubt they did. This shop is operated by an older Asian couple- Vietnamese, I believe- and this place has a mom & pop ambience to it. The older man cut my hair did at the slowest pace imaginable, and even briefly answered his phone in the middle of my haircut. He was in no hurry and fortunately, neither was I. Why do I give this place four stars? One reason is that though I got the slowest haircut ever, it was a good haircut and for $13, was at a reasonable price. Another is that this isn't like a large salon at which the cosmetologists quickly "process" you so they can move onto the next customer. Rather, at this shop the slow pace at which the barbers work gives the feeling that they took the time to do a shop to their satisfaction and yours. read more

My go to haircut place! They take so much time and detail for eveyrhair cut regardless of your style. The barbers are all equally talented and have a very high standard. Lines can be kind of long sometimes but just come during non peak hours (morning or late evening) no appointments all walk ins. I constantly get asked where I get my haircuts after my cuts at a plus and recommend I always recommend them straight to a plus barbers! Detailed haircut for a decent price. Just before I thought I found a new favorite , in that happiness, I fell for the guys request to shave my beard too. I've had bad experiences in the past with barbers shaving my beard and the nightmare happened again. Still I felt this new guy was probably trying to do his best, old fashioned way or something but it hurt real bad. I just can't fathom why they can't offer a simple smooth shave. It takes me 5 min at home and it never hurts. He barely spoke English so it was very hard to communicate with him. I'll still go back there but will never get a shave ever again outside. read more

Stopped in for the first time on a busy Sunday. Had a small wait, but I must say I didn't mind it. AC was on and all the stylists kept attentive to each of their customers. My cut was done well with no rush. The barber did a great job making sure all was well. I was very pleased with my experience and the barber even noted it was my first time. New to Yelp but fairly old timer to A Plus Barber (3 years) My mother and father get cut from here as well and we all are very satisfied with the cut as well as the friendly environment. My cuts are very easy, I get shaved, but I also get my mustache/beard and face trimmed and cleaned up. Leaves me feeling good after. So if you're wanting to look good, & feel good, I do recommend stopping by and let these good folks hook you up. Generally, was not happy with the cut, I just felt like the person did a little sloppy job with my cut and was not really paying attention to the details. I had to asked for clean up a few times, which was frustrating. That was a about 4 weeks ago, and instead of going back I tried another shop in the area. I took my two younger boys to get their haircuts here. We usually go to another place in east side San Jose but the drive is just too far so I took a chance and tried out A Plus. They did not disappoint. My 5 year old received a high fade come over with a hard part.. I wanted his hair short and it turned out great. My 3 year old had a scissor trim all around, she did a great job shaping his hair and keeping it the same style that he had. I've been here before and usually a nice lady cut my hair, but she was busy, so I thought I would give the bald Asian guy a shot since this place has been solid. Yeah not a good idea at all. First off when you tell a barber you want the sides faded or blended and somewhat short then how hard is that to do? Not very hard at all. Tell me why this guy shaved the sides down to practically no hair at all and his fade job consisted of letting the top of my hair hang over. He showed me the back and I almost started to laugh because it was that messed up. It was about as even as Lombard street in SF!! Now let's talk about the top. I asked for it to be trimmed down. This guy didn't even touch the top! Now for the final results. I kid you not this guy made me look like a white version of Kim Jong Un!! I honestly wanted to ask this so called barber if he was trying to make me part of of the North Korean regime. The sad thing is he honestly expected me to pay when even the man in charge admitted he messed up. Needless to say I didn't have to pay at don't plan on coming back. This barbershop is a hidden gem. I stumbled across this one when my other barbershop closed early. The wait was short and the prices were great. I needed a good fade, with trimming on the top and a lined part on one side. It was one of the best cuts I had. The next time I went in, my male barber had a long line, so I chose the young female. I was skeptical at first, but she proved to be better than my make barber!! No more gender biases here! I now go directly to her every time.
