The front desk is exceptional, the service I received from Dr. Elency Valle-Ortega was excellent and I'm very happy with my Phonak hearing devices. I know I'll be working with Eastside Audiology for the years to come. Thank you!

They are in network so I decided to commit to the long drive while in their care over the next few years. The care and expertise from the team was amazing. Unfortunately it's been a billing nightmare for the last seven months. You would think that they would be familiar as an in network provider for Regence and that billing would be a smooth process. The billing department says they were informed by Regence that my benefit amount was 3,000 and that the Regence limit would not apply. My insurance company stated to me that they paid their contracted provider the agreed upon charges for the product and services. Unfortunately this is somehow a surprise to the billing department and they do not believe that they were paid as they thought they were going to be. Next Eastside Audiology tried to balance bill me for $2,500. Regence informed me this is not allowed from their in network providers in Washington State. Seven months later and this is still unresolved. I honestly wish that I had never gone with this provider. Now I understand that east side audiology would've offered me a lesser technology if they had properly understood their contract with Regence. I can't believe this and the next time I need a hearing aid I'll just go to Costco and have it programmed by a local provider.

Actually, life was wonderful when we met, but it quickly went down hill. I went to Dr. Song for dizziness and vertigo last summer. After waiting almost 3 weeks to see her, I was a little thrown off when she spent 5 minutes with me by using a flashlight to look at my eyes. She asked me a couple of questions then told me the reason for my dizziness and vertigo was from my sodium intake. What? I was immediately pissed off and upset, and I let Dr. Song know. She didn't ask me anything about what I eat. If she had, she'd know that I rarely eat processed foods, and I actually look at labels of food almost obsessively. She kept saying, "I can't imagine what you're going through". She referred me to get an MRI, "just in case", but told me to lower my sodium. 10 minutes later, I was on my way out of an appointment I had waited 3 weeks for. I wanted an answer to why I was dizzy and had vertigo. I am otherwise healthy, so assumed my symptoms were due to an inner ear issue. I went to the MRI, but didn't expect what was about to come. They told me I would hear from Dr. Song in a week, unless they had found something. Dr. Song called me the next morning. She said, "yah, um, you have a brain tumor". WTF? And again, "I can't imagine what you're going through" with the same sincerity as before. None. I'll never forget that conversation as long as I live. Nobody wants that call, and I won't bore you with the details other than to say that I am recovering from the serious and painful ordeal of brain surgery, but Dr. Song's bedside manner was absolutely awful at the worst time in my life. I would dissuade anyone from seeing her. I had actually written a letter to the medical director of the clinic conveying my experience, but threw it away when I found out about my brain tumor. I had other things to worry about.

The short version: Do NOT get hearing aids via Optum/Polyclinic. Go to Costco's hearing services!…read more Here are the gruesome details: I had hearing tests in 2019 and 2022 (at the Madison location of Polyclinic's audiology department) that showed a decrease in my hearing over that time, and I was prescribed Phonak hearing aids in 2022. I paid approximately $4000 for the recommended aids. The charger failed after a few weeks, and was replaced as still under warranty. I returned again to audiology to say that the hearing aids were providing volume, but not clarity. Dr. Livingstone made a few adjustments, and then asked whether I could hear her clearly. I could, but we were in a sound-proof room and she was standing right in front of me. I continued to have issues with clarity, and also tried to get online help from Phonak. As a first-time user of hearing aids, I did not know what I should expect from the aids or audiologist. At the recommendation of a friend, I went to Costco's hearing services. Here's the experience there, and its contrast to Polyclinic/Optum: The Costco audiologist spent an hour testing my hearing--twice as long and with more detailed tests than at Polyclinic. The audiologist also checked rhe hearing aids I'd gotten at Polyclinic: She showed me a method of cleaning the aids that I had NOT been shown at Polyclinic She found that the left aid had failed entirel. Given my hearing tests, she was surprised that I was given the Phonak aids. She thought perhaps my hearing had gotten much worse since 2022, but when we looked at my 2022 hearing test, this was not the case. She said that the Phonak speakers had two little power for my hearing loss, and she thought that the in-ear tips were not the best choice. The Costco audiologist suggested different aids (after making sure I didn't want to return to Polyclinic to try again, instead off purchasing new aids from Costco--but after 2 years of frustration, I was ready to try new aids). She recommended some aids, and had me try a demo set that she adjusted on the spot to my hearing. This included walking out of the soundproof room into the noisy environment of the Costco warehouse, and making more adjustments to be sure that these aids would work for me. Less than a week later, my new aids had arrived and I returned for a fitting. The audiologist spent more than an hour on this fitting, making more precise adjustments to the aids, as well as all the pairings and settings needed for the phone app. This was, again, more than twice as long and with much greater detail than my fitting at Polyclinic. The Costco audiologist automatically booked me for another follow-up after I will have worn the aids for about 10 days, so that I can report any issues, ask questions and get further adjustments. At Polyclinic, after the fitting, I was simply told to "make an appointment if you have any problems. THE DIFFERENCE is almost indescribable: My ability to hear and understand conversations, the TV and more is orders of magnitude better. The phone app for the new aids is very effective and user friendly (the app for the aids from Polyclinic was glitchy, often would not connect with my aids, and it was difficult to get online help). The aids from Costco were half the price of what I paid at Polyclinic. In short, I got radically better service and improved hearing via Costco--at half the price. At Polyclinic, I paid thousands for aids that never gave good hearing clarity, whose charger failed within weeks, and with one aid that failed within 2 years (after the warranty had expired). I wish I had known in 2022 that I could do much better than what I was getting.
