I was going to this nail shop prior to covid frequently and even suggested it to several coworkers. Today I called because I wanted to get some information about their practices since things are changed I asked the following questions: 1) how many people do you allow in at a time? 2) do you use the bowl liners now(because prior to covid they didn't use them) The response from the man(owner) to my question was "Ma'am we use all the PPE required. If you're concerned at covid, you should stay home. *Hangs up the phone* I don't believe my questions prompted that type of response where you pretty much tell me what to do and hang up on me. After, I stated that I wanted to come in within the hour. That was very disrespectful and I will take my money to places that can handle simple inquiries. No one wants to drive somewhere and be surprised. This conversation could have had a better response. Even after he said all that I still remained calm and nice, but I will tolerate being dismissed by individuals that I'm investing my money into their business. Update: I went to bellagio across the way. I called they answered my questions and had me come in. My regular salon that I had been going to closed. So, I was trying to find a new salon that I would love. I tried two other salons. I was not impressed so I tried "A plus nails". I live up the street & didn't even know they were there. It's about a 3 minute drive from my house. I made an appointment and showed up on time. They were so busy. It was a Sunday so it's understandable. Only a few nail salon are open Sunday. Kim made sure to check on me & let me know how long I would have to wait. I only waited for about 15 min. I had a great time here. I am only in town for the summer and was a bit nervous about trying a new place, but I am glad I did. My hands are pretty small and my skin is sensitive so it can be difficult to get my nails done comfortably. They were very kind over the phone and able to get me in the same day for a fill on my acrylics! Check-in was easy and the salon was clean and tidy. Alex did a lovely job on my nails and gave me exactly what I asked for. She was precise and efficient. At each step she made sure I liked how they looked. She also made me feel welcome by talking to me while she did my nails. I thought the prices were fantastic, and were way cheaper than they would be back home. The woman that did my nails was very friendly hence the two stars and the nails turned out okay. However the overall atmosphere from the other employees was very unfriendly. On more than one occasion, another employee would walk by, stare at me, and speak to the lady doing my nails. She would laugh and sneer and look in my direction which was very juvenile and unprofessional in my opinion. AM I CRAZY??? I showed the technician this photo. . . and my nails look like this. . . Let me explain, I walked in and was seated down. I asked for a DIP REMOVAL only. The first thing she did was cut my 3 nails until I stopped her and told her "these are NOT acrylics, they are my real nails". I understand why she assumed it was acrylics because I have naturally strong/thick nails and they were super long (thanks to my previous dip). But my problem is, why didn't you ASK if it was ACRYLICS before you roughly trimmed them. Then she soaked my hands following normal routine. She had another client walk in after me and requested acrylics. So she switched to service her while letting me soak. Which is COMPLETELY FINE. But I'm UPSET that she was hurrying to finish my "dip removal" and I felt rushed just because I didn't want to pay for a higher end service. (I am a full-time college student and I have no special places to be, why can't I only have a removal?). KEEP IN MIND, I showed her the first photo and I also confirmed the SQUARE/OVAL shape with her on her "picture chart of nail shapes" sitting on her desk. To guarantee there's no excuse to not get the shape I requested. My nails were super long and I wanted it trimmed to this specific shape AND length. I was tired of my long nails because I'm always typing on my computer. Also, my nails GROW FAST so I wanted them short. I payed and walked out EXTREMELY dissatisfied because they are my hands, so I can't help but look at them all the time. And for the HIGH PRICE I PAID ($20 - for a dip REMOVAL only). I had the worse service. Now I will have to shape them again at home which makes me more upset I spent $20 at the salon when I could've done them AT HOME. Or leave them alone and have it redone/pay again soon because they grow fast. I'm disgusted. The reason I decided to go to a nail salon so I don't have to do them myself. I'm not a hard person, I know I'm not because I am a nail tech myself. I'm just upset I couldn't get decent quality on the BASICS- EQUAL LENGTH AND SHAPE... Now I'm stuck with UNEVEN, longer than I wanted, and square/sharp corners nails. Don't come here. read more

I have never seen someone care about a customer so much! I went back in 3 days later and had an amazing experience and my nails look amazing! **picture is from new set! Thank you, Nick! It was okay. First nail appt the day that businesses reopened after COVID-19. Service was timely, but nail job (acrylic) was quite terrible. He asked if I liked them thick or thin, I prefer a little thicker and told him, but that resulted in him not filing or drilling to smooth them or even them out with my cuticles which resulted in them looking like they were already grown out a week the same day they were done. My sister and I both got the lavish pedicures and the gel manicures. My sister's pedicure and service started about 20 minutes before mine yet somehow I was done with my service only 8 minutes after her. I wish I asked who did my nails because she was very rough in the way she handled me and was trying to speed through the process as if her life depended on it. A pedicure is supposed to be relaxing but all the steps she did were just apply and then immediately removing the scrub or what have you. There was no massage like my sister had. She simply applied the scrub and then removed it. Applied the mask then removed etc. There is still obvious dead skin on the bottom of my foot and toes that any good pedicure would have removed. When she was cutting and shaping my finger nails she kept doing the almond shape although I asked for round and now they are a mix of both round and almond but in varying lengths and shapes. None of the tips are actually centered to my nail. When cutting the nails she was trying to go so fast that she at first pinched my skin and nails in between the clippers a few times almost cutting me several times. Once gel was applied she didn't want to wait until the 30 second timer on the lamp went off either. Even just the way she would grab my hands was so rough. It's a shame because the salon has a wonderful selection of colors and seems to have a nice owner and atmosphere. read more

Someone I know got her nails done here and she took them off. And when you soak off acrylic, it should just flake off if it is EMA monomer, but it was MMA monomer, which is extremely toxic for your nails and skin. It was gooey and took 2 hour to get off. If you want terrible nail health go to this . Many salons buy MMA because it's cheap but it is extremely toxic and bad for you. Be careful read more

I've come to this salon a couple times. I was here yesterday and she says to come back at 430. I told her what I needed. I need my toes filled and one nail fix. When I came back at 430 I still had to wait. Then after she tells me I can fix the nail. But come back at 1030 am. Yeah like I was going to be here right at 1030 in the morning. I was a little late and she refused to do me at all. After I was very nice and accommodating to her and cane back two times. I'll never return again. And she doesn't use the plastic liners for pedicures. I'll be calling the health department on her tomorrow. read more

She asked what length and shape I wanted I told her just like the picture I like a medium/ short length. She asked if the length was good when she was shaping them I said yes. So we're going through it and then after she lays the acrylic she told me the length was to short to do the design and I had to pick a color. I didn't want a color i wanted a cute design. I almost hate to write this review because it will only make this salon busier, but they deserve it! I was looking for someone to do my wedding day nails - gel mani and pedicure, after seeing their great reviews and confirming that they use opi gel, I decided to go to A Plus. They have a huge selection of colors (which is great bc I am really picky about my nails) and also do dip powder, which I have recently come to enjoy lately on occasion. Nick (the owner I think) was able to get me in later that day no problem. When I arrived, he got me right in to the pedi chair with no wait. We started chatting as he was doing my nails and I let him know that this was my wedding nails. Nick was amazingly accommodating and determined to give me exactly what I wanted for my day, even testing out a few shades for me and helping me pick a color, even though they were short-staffed that day due to call offs. I ended up going with a French on my toes and the pink from that on my fingers (no French) Nick even asked if I wanted the pink over the white tips (instead of just slathering it on over top of the white which makes it look dull - like many other nail salons) took his time to meticulously paint each tip and THEN go back in with the sheer pink only at the base - flawless!! For my mani he took his time and beautifully shaped and manicured each of my nails. I asked him to please file down some of the tops of my nails just to smooth out some ridges (a pet peeve of mine when places don't file them enough and then I'm stuck with bumpy polish) My nails turned out absolutely perfect! I'm so happy that I've finally found a local nail salon that I can't wait to go back to! He even gave me a discount at checkout! I am disappointed that I have to give this negative review; however, it is warranted. When looking for a nail salon in the Polaris area, A Plus Nails and Spa popped up with a 4.5 star rating. When reviewing the business on Yelp, there's a link to request an appointment. It also states on their Yelp page that their response time is five hours and that they have a 100% response rate. Well, I requested an appointment for two for 6/13 (my birthday) on 6/10 and never heard anything. So, my friend and I decided to walk in on around 2:30 PM on 6/13 (not knowing that the business primarily functions off of appointments) and was advised that our appointment was not booked and to pick our colors and to sit and wait. The technician seemed pretty perturbed that we didn't have an appointment as well. We waited for thirty minutes before deciding to walk out and leave. We saw appointment after appointment come in and there were only three technicians working that day so we knew that with every person that walked in...that our wait was only getting longer. IF you would like to get your nails done here, I would suggest CALLING and scheduling an appointment to guarantee that your appointment is booked. read more
