It was determined that a handyman we used to fix a leak four years ago must have accidentally switched the positions of the hot and cold water hoses behind our clothes washer. So, when I washed with what I thought was cold water, hot water was really coming out. He even fixed my tub/shower diverter stem I was starting to have issues with. We discussed a few hacks to get some more life out of the toilet as hard water is doing what it does. I then asked about my kitchen sink/drain and he verified that I can get RO and a disposal into that space. Now I just need to budget! I decided to get a second opinion, and the other plumber found that there were no roots in the pipes (confirmed with a camera inspection) and was able to clear the blockage successfully. When I called Mellott Plumbing to explain the situation and request a partial refund, they did issue a refund, which I appreciated. While I'm thankful for the refund and their prompt response, the initial misdiagnosis and incorrect approach caused unnecessary stress and expense.
