I can only give 3 stars. Even though the smog took less then 30 mins and the staff was very friendly and was able to use the coupon for $10 bucks off. The reason for 3 stars is I also needed my DMV tags. Unfortunately Dave wasn't in. I was told to come back on Saturday, I couldn't go back until the following Friday. I got there and was told that I couldn't get my DMV tags because Dave wasn't in and apparently he's the only one that can do them. This is a great place but they need to cross train the employees so if the DMV guy isn't in there's another person to take over. I ended up going to the Petaluma DMV and was unable to obtain or pay my registration was told it needed to to be 90 days late! Was told to go to Santa Rosa DMV and use the kiosk. It was peak traffic hour and Petaluma to Santa Rosa was about a 40 minute drive . Not unhappy service was great! But trying to obtain my tags not so great. Went home and did it on line . Have to wait for snail mail to deliver my tag. read more

3 stars isn't a bad review, it's considered "OK" by Yelps standard & that's what this whole experience was, just ok if even that. I was sent here by 101 Smog as they are not a Star station & A Smog Test Only is a Star station, which is what I needed for my vehicles registration. I called them while at 101 Smog & was told it would be a total of 40 minutes so I rushed over to their establishment which was only about 5 minutes away. When I got there I was told it would be 40 minutes before they would even start working on my car & an additional 40 minutes to complete the job. In other words 1 hour & 20 minutes instead of 40 minutes. The person in the office (who was the same person that I spoke to on the phone) asked for my cell phone number & email & said I would be contacted when the job was completed. So with that I walked down the street as I didn't feel like sitting in their waiting from for an hour & 20 minutes. Well 4 hours later I still had not received any call, text or email that my car was ready so I walked back over, go into the office & no one is there. I'm there for a few minutes waiting, saying "hello, anyone here?" & then left to go to the garage area to find someone. I ask if there's anyone to help in the office & I'm told someone is in there to which I said I was there for a few minutes calling out with no response. Then I said that I'm assuming my car is done since it's now in a different parking spot, and at that point I'm told it passed smog. I looked at this person in the garage & responded with "Really? It's been 4 hours & no one has contacted me to say it's done". The look on his face is of shock & it's priceless! I got back into the office & this time the same office person has returned. I commented to him that it's been 4 hours & he never contacted me to say my car was done. I kid you not, all I got was a blank stare. Would I use this business again? Probably not unless it was an absolute emergency or I wanted to waste half my day waiting around (I actually had plans & had to cancel). read more

Here's the deal. These are hard working people and they got the job done. My year 2000 vehicle passed smog and that's why I came here. But here's the most important info you need to know before you go. If you use your Valpak discount coupon (available via mail or the Valpak web site), you do not get a free retest if you car fails smog. After studying the fine print on the coupon it does indeed say this. But it was an unwelcome surprise and annoying to have to decide whether to use the coupon on the spot. I almost caved in to paying the extra money just to play it safe. Why put your customers through this kind of used car salesman high pressure sales game? People have been complaining about this coupon on yelp since 2017. Don't expect them to make the coupon more clear. But now you know the game and can decide for yourself before you show up. read more

I have visited this business on two separate occasions in the last month for both of my vehicles, and I will continue to. The people who work there are friendly, quick, and there to serve you like family. My first trip, I went on a Saturday morning. There were about three other cars being smogged, so there was a "longer" wait than usual... 30min. I decided to walk downtown while I waited and explored a few shops. By the time I returned, my vehicle had been checked and parked safely by the service provider. They estimated the wait time perfectly. Overall great experience. My second trip, I went on a weekday morning. I was the only car and it took 15min! I took a stroll around the block while I waited. (They have a small seating are inside or convenient benches outside if you prefer to wait that way). It was yet another pleasant experience. AND they recognized me, which made me feel good. This place is a bit more run down than the pictures would have you believe. However if you're picking smog stations on visual appeal then really you probably haven't lived in California long or owned many cars. Besides, I thought it looked like the gas station from Fallout 4. The staff is incredibly friendly, they have a genuine affection for cars, and the pricing is straightforward and clear because it's on a giant poster to the left of the register. They take your info, they state the price, you hand over your keys and 15 minutes after they start you get your car back and a certificate. This is a very painless experience. It is first come first serve so leaving work a little early on a weekday can pay huge dividends if you want to walk in and walk out with no more wait than the time the smog takes. There's magazines but no TV, coffee, water etc... good phone signal though so all set. read more

Don't judge a book by it's cover. Despite the facility looking a little run down the person who helped me was courteous and professional and explained everything very clearly. In this day and age it's surprisingly hard to come by "people skills" like this in the automotive repair business in general. Read every word on their very educational website you will be well prepared for what might happen if your vehicle has had recent work done. They spell out everything you should do to help your vehicle pass smog. If you don't and it fails then you've got no one to blame but yourself. Despite the head gasket and 12volt battery being recently replaced and the computer consequently reset my wife's Prius passed its "Star"mandated smog test AND they were able to process the registration and issue me the tag. All in less than 30 minutes without an appointment. I'll recommend these guys to anyone. read more

My wait was mostly due to a customer, just before my vehicle, who needed to do something simple, drive about 60 miles to reset a code, return to retest same day at no charge....they were extremely patient & kind repeating the machine is the only way you pass or fail, not anything the tester does.
